It has been thirty years since Daedeuk Science Town was established in Daejeon, Korea. As a main purpose of establishing the Science Town was to promote basic research, there have not been much economic impacts with little networks among research and educational institutes within the science park and the city of Daejeon in general. After the economic crisis in 1997, however, there have been increasing changes around the Town. Since then more than 400 technology-intensive firms were newly created, mainly from the research institutes, or introduced to the Park area. This paper analyzes R&D networks of these small firms, based on a questionnaire survey. The paper has argued: 1) to establish technology transfer centers, 2) to emphasize research related to commercialization, 3) to intensify advertizement of research outputs to the potential entrepreneurs, 4) to assist entrepreneural associations of concerned companies.

This study aims to analyse the spatial trends of knowledge-based industries in Gyeonggi-Province. According to the results, the knowledge-based manufacturing industry is expected to relocate to the south and northwest of Gyeonggi. On the other hand, the knowledge-based service industry is to concentrate on five new towns around the City of Seoul because of the easy access to the highly-educated labour and venture capital. Finally. it is emphasized that the concentration of knowledge-based industries in the Gyeonggi Provincei should develop from the industrial clusters to the regional innovative clusters on the basis of knowledge and innovation created by knowledge-based companies, research institutes, and universities altogether in the near future. More importantly, it maintained that the collective learning process is the most fundamental element to achieve knowledge and innovation within the regional innovative clusters.

This paper aims to present a suggestion by examining regional cluster formation and the promotion strategy of the network with a viewpoint of the regional cluster policy in the semiconductor industry of Kyushu Region. The characteristics of regional cluster formation in kyushu are as follows: First, the semiconductor industry of the beginning Kyushu Region has strong character of the branch factory by a large company in the production system. But In the new international economic environment with the rapidly change of the globalization and the information technology revolution a large company might adapt itself to management rationalization through outsourcing. a small company is link to the production system of the semiconductor packages and electronic device, and the growth of many allied industries is supported. Second, the networking support of public sector promotes the strategy of regional cluster based on the Kyushu Silicon Cluster Plan and Kyushu Lager Cluster Plan in the High-tech semiconductor industry of Kyushu. Kyushu's industrial was strengthened R & D function by Larger Cluster of High-tech semiconductor industry. Partnerships are involved in a wide range of industry, academia, government aim to revitalize industry of this region. we suggest to five points in the cluster policy of South Korean.

택시교통사고발생에 영향을 주는 요인의 한계효과

It is sought to develop a proper model which considers a dispersion feature of count data with discrete probability distribution, and simultaneously overcomes the shortcoming of the linear regression model, widely adopted for analyzing traffic accidents. By utilizing the survey data on company taxi drivers in Jeonju, Iksan and Kunsan cities, overdispersion and heterogeneity existing in those data are tested by statistical verification and then the optimal model with higher reliance and accuracy is proposed. Also, Sensitivity analysis, called as marginal effects, is performed to know the change of traffic accidents depending on the change in drivers' socio-economic characteristic and other elements. It should be stressed to analyze primary factors of taxi accidents whose rate is higher than any other vehicle in order to diminish the entire traffic accidents in the cities as well as to gain trust in public transportation. This study is expected to help building fundamental countermeasures to prevent or reduce traffic accidents by analyzing casual relationship of behavioral and environmental aspects influencing taxi accidents.

The purpose of the present study intends to evaluate impacts of high-speed rail transit on population in- and out-migration focusing particularly on Seoul Special City. Does the initiation of the transit result in the population dispersion from Seoul? What would happen to other regions? To answer these questions, we construct a multi-level logit model and carry out simulation analyses to estimate the effects of high speed rail on population distribution. We found that cities linked to the rapid rail corridor have a possibility of population gains from Seoul and other regions, however, other regions remoted from the corridor expected to lose the net migration. We also found that the possibility is closely related to the distance from Seoul. The present study concludes with suggesting some policy implications and future studies.

이 연구의 목적은 1960년대 이후 약 40여년 간 한국의 도시화 과정을 개관하고 이에서 파생한 수도권의 과비대화와 지역간 불균형의 문제를 고찰하여 대도시성장관리에 관한 정책적 시사점을 얻고자 하는데 있다. 이를 위해 1960-2000년에 이르는 40년간의 인구변화와 수도권의 집중을 통계적으로 살펴보고, 우리나라 도시화과정의 특성을 도출한 후 특히 수도권 집중을 방지하고자 했던 역대 분산정책을 살펴보았다. 결론 부분에서 도시화의 특성과 지역불균형, 수도권집중 문제를 연계하여 지역불균형 완화를 위해서는 지방에 대한 보다 강력한 지원과 수도권의 집중 완화를 위해서는 규제중심보다는 간접적인 유인정책이 효과적일 것이라는 것을 제시하였다.
