소비자학 전공의 현행 교과과정 평가와 발전방향

Hunt(1992) identifies the four major stakeholders of university discipline that aspires to be a professional discipline as the society, the students who major the discipline, the potential employers of the major’s graduates, and the academia. The purpose of this study is two folds: 1) to assess whether or not the needs of the major stakeholders of Consumer Sciences are met by analysing the current course offerings of Consumer Sciences departments in higher education institutions in Korea, and 2) to make constructive suggestions for curriculum development for Consumer Sciences programs. Results of curriculum analysis suggests that the current Consumer Sciences programs’ curriculum relatively well responds to the traditional charge of the discipline. However, the curriculum needs to take a step further in order to accomodate the career needs of its students, in the direction of career path in private corporate sector, and several suggestions in the direction are discussed.

The purpose of this study was to develop and establish some standard curriculums in the field of Personal Finance area according to the increasing needs of educators and practitioners in the market. To accomplish this purpose, certificate systems and existing curriculums related to financial planning and counseling area offered in Korea as well as in USA were reviewed and analyzed. A survey was conducted to get information of the preference of professionals worked in financial market for the subjects and certificates related to Personal Finance area as well. Based on reviewed certificate systems and existing curriculums and survey results, followings are concluded; the ideal curriculum should include 7 subjects of Financial Planning Process & Ethics, Risk Management & Insurance Planning, Investment Planning, Real Estate Planning, Tax Planning, Retirement Planning & Employee Benefit, and Estate Planning which are required by CFP Board. An introduction and cooperation of CFP Board-Registered program is strongly recommended. There will be some flexibility in operation of standard curricular according to department conditions.



고등학교 생활경제교과의 운영실태 및 효율적 개선방안

The purpose of this study is to broaden the range in choosing the employment by people who specialized in consumer science and to search for the direction to enhance the status of the consumer science in respect of high school students who can be potential customers in a future consumer science. While the social demand on economy education and the university students' demand on employment in respect of teaching profession are recently on the increase, the opportunity for those who majored in consumer education and consumer science to find their way into teaching career is quite limited. In this regard, this study searched for the method for those who majored in consumer science to find their way into teaching career with a focus on a living economy curriculum. First, the current condition on consumer education at high school and the actual condition in operation of consumer science at the consumer science-related faculties were analyzed. Second, the background in introducing the living economy curriculum and the relevant actual condition in operation were analyzed. Third, the textbook for the living economy curriculum was analyzed. Lastly, along with the method to activate the living economy curriculum, the methods that should be tried by those who majored in consumer science at the consumer science-related faculties to find their way into teacher-training course in respect of the living economy curriculum were suggested.



소비자전문상담사의 취업연계 활성화 방안 연구

The purpose of this study was to find out the problems of the national certificated consumer counselling(2nd degree) and the ways to resolve them. The certificate of consumer counselling began to perform the test by the Human Resources Development Service of Korea since 2003. Those who got this certificate had the difficulties to take a job through using it. The major reasons of the disfunction of job matching were 1) there were nothing about the function and job matching of this certificate as national certificate in any consumer related laws and rules, therefore those who got this certificate nearly cannot take a job as a public servant, 2) the limitations of the test contents, i.e. the deficiency of specialization were for this certificate to connect with corporate jobs, 3) the corporate staffs didn’t have information about it sufficiently, 4) the low recognition of corporate staffs resulted from the lack of networks between consumer counseling scholars and the corporate. Finally, we suggest the specializations of test contents in certificated consumer counselling(first degree), differentiation from other relevant certificates, and promotion of laying down the provisions of this national certificate as public officer in the Consumer Protection Law.



가계신용관련정책 기초자료를 위한 가계부채의 지역 간 비교분석

The purpose of the study was to provide the informations about the debt structures of households in 7 metropolitan city areas including Seoul, Busan, Daegu, Daejeon, Incheon, Gwangju and Ulsan. Utilizing the 2003 Korean Labor and Income Panel Study, the debt structures were investigated by the debt holding, debt outstandings, debt types and debt burdens. The debt burdens were examined by debt ratios to income, financial assets and total assets and subjective debt burden. Debts were analyzed in the context of other household economic components such as incomes, expenses and assets. The results showed that the debt structures of the households were different according to cities where they lived. Debt amount of Seoul was the highest, but the debt status of the households living in Seoul did not seem to be worse than the others. Daegu was found to be the worst city among the cities in terms of the deficiency of household incomes and few amounts of financial assets. The households in Incheon were also in worse status due to the few amounts of financial assets. The results imply that the effective approaches to improve the debt status or to solve the debt problems of households should be taken differently according to the areas and some implications were made in the conclusion.



청주시 소비자의 쿠폰에 대한 태도 유형화에 관한 연구

As the instances of using coupons as a marketing tool have been grown, the number of consumers using coupon is also on the increase. As a coupon is believed to be an efficient means to bring the maximum satisfaction and marketing effect with the minimum cost in both consumers and corporations, the rapid development is requested in qualitative aspect beyond the quantitative expansion. In fact, a coupon is not used only by an economic reason. The use of a coupon itself is recognized as an interesting amusement. In this regard, this study categorized the consumers’ attitude regarding coupon use and analyzed the related factors. The results were as follows: 1. The consumers’ attitude regarding coupon use was classified as three types such as ① negative attitude, ② amusement-like attitude, and ③ economic attitude. 2. As a result of implementing the cluster analysis in accordance with the consumers’ attitude regarding coupon use, the consumer group was divided into three types such as ① heavy user group, ② group using coupon for amusement, and ③ group using for economic purpose. 3. The heavy user group showed the highest degree of coupon loyalty. In addition, it also showed the highest degree of negative attitude about coupon.

This study is aimed to develop a consumer education program applying the instructional design theory of education technology. To take an example of how a consumer education program can be built on the instructional design theory, the research was done by making a credit education program for college students adopting a systems approach. For the process developing the consumer education program, the general ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation) model is employed. At the Analysis stage as the first step, the social needs in the credit education program were found and the elements of educational contents for college students were examined. The second stage is Design. In this stage, a teaching plan for the consumer education was designed. In addition to that, a questionnaire for testing the effect of the education program was conducted and analyzed. In the Development stage, the researcher made a real consumer education webzine according to the teaching plan. As the Implementation stage, a credit education program for college students was implemented by using this education webzine. After the implementation, the effect of the credit education program was tested and learners’ satisfaction level of the credit education webzine was surveyed in the stage of Evaluation. In addition, credit education experts were requested to examine the teaching plan and the credit education webzine. The teaching plan and contents were modified by the results of those investigations. Using this systems approach in developing an instructional program, teachers can get multiple feedbacks from every stage. These feedbacks make a teaching plan more effective, since teachers could check up students' demands for education contents and their knowledge level before implementing a teaching plan.



공동체화폐운동의 소비자주의적 함의 연구 : 한밭레츠에 참여하는 소비자의 경험을 중심으로

The purpose of this study was to explore the meaning of consumerism of Community Currency Movement through an analysis of the consumer experience of Hanbat-LETS participants. Consumerism is also an effort to try to brings to solution of the market economy system’s problem, for example the unequal problem of between corporation and consumer. Hanbat-LETS is the active institution which is the most active in the midst of Korea Community Currency, so Hanbat-LETS is selected by the subject of this study. The analytical methods adopted in this study were the participation & observation method and the Focus Group & In-depth Interview method. Major findings of this study were as follows: Hanbat-LETS participants experienced the following consumer experience ; the creation of value through the exchange trade, the solidarity shared with community, the experience free for the need of competition and ownership, the satisfaction from offering oneself property, the practice of sustainable consumption life. Community Currency Movement imply the following meaning of consumerism. First, the autonomous participation, Second, the practice of environment-friendly value, Third, the development of oneself ability, Fourth, the construction of trust society through belief, Fifth, the realization of community society. Therefore it is proved Community Currency Movement is a complementary institution of the monetary system and a desirable and new-style economical institution that cure the anxiety and relative comparison, alienation. This study is significant as a exploratory work probing the participants of Community Currency Movement and the extension of scope of consumerism and consumption study.

The importance of consumer education is increasingly recognized. The Ministry of finance and economy’s consumer policy plan (2006~2010) sets out a vision of a consumer education strategies to empower the consumers. Consumer education is already an integral part of the developed nations’ consumer policy. Increasingly complex situations of consumer policy mean that we face a real status of consumer education. In achieving this aim, this paper describes the developments of consumer education between 2000 and 2006: consumer education system, consumer eduction activities of stakeholder and education topics.
