This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of urban regeneration projects on local communities in small and medium-sized cities through both quantitative and qualitative methods. Specifically, the qualitative analysis utilizes big data from social networking services (SNS) to evaluate the changes and effects following the implementation of the urban regeneration project. The study focuses on Mokwon-dong, Mokpo, Jeollanam-do, as a case study, conducting a comprehensive review of social, economic, and physical changes through qualitative analysis based on SNS data as well as traditional quantitative indicators. The results reveal that after the completion of the urban regeneration project, there was a significant increase in the volume of mentions and positive sentiment towards Mokwon-dong. Additionally, the analysis of related words showed that the keywords related to the specific projects and objectives of the urban regeneration initiative appeared prominently. The quantitative analysis identified improvements in economic indicators, such as a deceleration in the population decline, and increases in land price change rates and commercial rent. These findings suggest that the urban regeneration project in Mokwon-dong had positive effects. This study evaluates the effectiveness of urban regeneration through a multifaceted approach, combining qualitative analysis using SNS big data with quantitative data analysis. The results offer valuable insights for the formulation of future urban regeneration policies.

The tourque-shear (T.S) bolt method is a method of evaluating that when a designated amount of torque is applied to the bolt, the pintail at the end of the bolt is broken, and the fastening tension at this time has reached the target standard bolt tension. It has advantages in terms of convenience and reliability as it can minimize deviations depending on the operator's skill level and maintain clamping force in bolt fastening parts. However, T.S bolts must be fastened using a dedicated equipment called a shear wrench, and there are disadvantages in inventory handling and cost as T.S bolts of different sizes must be provided depending on the fastening thickness of the joint. Accordingly, this study aims to develop the T.S nut method, which maintains the advantages of T.S bolts and complements the defects.

Since the 1990s, legal regulations were relaxed to prevent urban hollowing, allowing for apartment construction in commercial areas, leading to the emergence of super high-rise residential-commercial complexes in Seoul. This change was driven by the need for efficient land use due to population concentration and residential land shortage. These complexes initially featured one to four main buildings, designed to meet high floor area ratio requirements by combining multiple residential units within a single structure, resulting in high-rise and high-density forms. Their market success was attributed to prime urban locations, secured views, and luxurious interior designs. However, post-occupancy issues arose, including insufficient sunlight, natural lighting, ventilation, and airflow due to concentrated floor plans. To address these deficiencies, mechanical air conditioning systems were introduced, increasing maintenance costs for residents and highlighting the need for eco-friendly high-rise residential buildings. Despite this demand, no domestic high-rise buildings surpass conventional slab-type apartments in residential performance. Current domestic research on eco-friendly high-rise residential planning remains largely theoretical, with few practical applications. This research aims to solve the environmental and residential performance issues prevalent in existing high-rise structures and advance the development of sustainable, high-performance residential buildings in urban areas. This study identifies the characteristics and architectural planning elements of eco-friendly high-rise residential buildings through the analysis of domestic and some international cases. By establishing applicable eco-friendly planning directions, a concrete design example for an eco-friendly high-rise residential building's floor plan was developed, demonstrating its potential viability.

Korea's education is changing from "introduction to basic knowledge" to "improving creativity and inquiry," and it is necessary to respond to various demands and demands for educational facilities as the level of education and economic power improve. There is a need to provide creative facilities and spaces for "maker education" through experience facilities and teaching aids that cannot have specialized facilities on their own in existing schools. Against this backdrop, we intend to derive design elements through expert preference analysis for the Maker Education Experience Center, which is currently operating after remodeling a closed school in Busan, and provide valid data that can be applied in future school remodeling. To this end, a survey was conducted on users, parents, experts and designers to identify differences in the importance of remodeling elements, analyze their weights and priorities, and present effective remodeling design elements and design characteristics.

This study aimed to derive satisfaction levels for each item of the housing repair project and suggest improvement measures for the housing repair project based on a satisfaction survey and expert interviews conducted on the Guam and Sogye districts of Changwon, which carried out urban regeneration housing repair projects. The satisfaction survey results based on the survey showed that both districts were highly satisfied with the selection method for housing repair project support targets. More than half of the respondents answered ‘evaluation’ as the selection method, and the most important factor to consider in the evaluation was ‘economic level.’ The satisfaction level for the scope of possible support for housing repair projects was relatively high, and residents expected more support to be provided for ‘performance improvement’ rather than ‘external landscape improvement.’ Overall satisfaction with the housing repair project was high in all areas, and the evaluation of the degree of contribution to improving the external landscape of the village was higher in Sogye district than in Guam district. When asked whether standard design guidelines were necessary, the majority responded that they were ‘necessary.’

Industrial complexes have played a major role in Korea's economic growth. Starting with the introduction period in the 1960s, the development period in the 1970s, the maturity period in the 1980s, and the rebounding period in the 1990s, efforts began to develop various industrial complexes. Later, as a result of these efforts during the re-leap period, industrial complexes with expertise were created in earnest in the 2000s with various location types and deregulation policies, and industrial complexes have been developing in response to rapid changes and structures. This study is about the utilization of idle space according to the characteristics of industrial complexes that were intensively created in Gangseo-gu in Busan Metropolitan City in accordance with the industrial complex policy in the early 2000s. Industrial complexes show characteristic problems in which each characteristic idle facility and idle space remain unutilized for many years from the beginning of occupancy according to individual characteristics. In order to slow down the decline of industrial complexes and achieve sustainable development, it is necessary to consider the use of idle space that reflects the individual characteristics of industrial complexes and to develop plans that reflect this.

This study analyzed the spatial and constructive characteristics by selecting which is remaining original shapes from a row house ‘Ilryol’ of Refuse Dwellings located in Uam-dong, Busan. The space for one household's residence is estimated to be 15m2 in land area and 12.24m2 in construction area, and later, damage such as cutting structural members occurred in the process of extending the loft due to demand for family space. There was a side extension that occupied the road for both side households in one building, and there was also a type of space extension that combined the two households. The roof structure of row house ‘Ilryol’ used standardized original wood as it was the main structure, but in terms of structural rationality, it seems that it was designed and built uniformly by refugees and residents with knowledge in the construction industry, although there is no structural knowledge. The wood was mainly made of North American Douglas fur, and there is a high possibility of construction materials by aid at the time.

As part of its 2023 green ecological urban regeneration strategy, the city of Seoul has created green open spaces. However, Seoul’s open green space plan focuses only on the sense of spatial openness without considering external thermal comfort. Accordingly, based on a simulation, this study analyzes changes in external thermal comfort owing to the adoption of green open space. To this end, the research scope was set to Mugyo-dong and Da-dong, and analysis derived the following results. When the height of the buildings within the research site is 100m or below, no clear effect of improvement in external thermal comfort due to the increase in building height was observed, but the effect of improvement was more apparent as a result of the form of green space. Moreover, a significant effect on the improvement of thermal comfort depending on green space outside the site was observed. Therefore, to create green open spaces, more attention needs to be paid to the form of green space constructed rather than the height of the building to improve external thermal comfort. This study has significance in that it predicted changes in external thermal comfort in terms of microclimate that is not addressed in Seoul’s open green space plan.

This paper aims to analyze the type and present a systematic framework through consideration of its composition, as many examples of rational system and emotional objects are found in Le Corbusier's works in harmony. Among the works included in Le Corbusier's complete collection, 23 buildings with objects prominently expressed in the outer space were classified and characterized by the composition method of the object divided into parts and whole, whole and object, and analyzed in functional and morphological aspects, The function in the partial motion and object was the composition of threads that required functional connection with the main body, and in terms of form, the use of an incomplete form of an object is attached to the main body of the rational system to pursue harmony with diversity. Most of the functional aspects of the whole and object are composed of threads that can stand on their own regardless of the function of the main body, and the morphological aspect pursues a geometric form with its own completeness to highlight easy cognition. In terms of the morphological completeness of objects, independence, attribution, intersection, and attachment types were discovered and their characteristics were described. In terms of the relationship between the object and the body, it could be classified into independent, dependent, and attribution types. This study is meaningful in that by presenting the frame of the emotional object type based on the rational system, practitioners can use the type of object suitable for the right place.

The COVID-19 pandemic, beginning in Wuhan, China, in December 2019, profoundly impacted daily life, particularly through "social distancing" and "untact" practices. With the official end of the pandemic declared in May 2023, society faced significant disruptions, especially in education, where remote learning became necessary. In architectural education, which relies heavily on face-to-face critiques, the transition to online platforms like Zoom and Google Meet posed substantial challenges. These platforms, though suited for online meetings, were inadequate for the dynamic nature of design education. Students reported communication difficulties, platform usage issues, and video conference fatigue. This study explores the use of the Gravity Sketch program, leveraging Virtual Reality (VR) technology, as a tool to enhance remote design education and address the limitations of traditional online conferencing tools.

Due to the increase in the urban population, large cities today have grown rapidly in a short period of time, and the problem of housing supply has been solved through the construction of new cities outside the city or large-scale housing development projects. This housing supply policy made it possible to supply large-scale apartment complexes, and as a result, it became an important opportunity to show the unique characteristics of cities and regions. These regional differences are the result of several natural and humanistic factors. However, among them, large-scale housing development projects in which large-scale apartment complexes were deliberately created will have a significant impact. Daegu has developed a radial urban structure centered on the traditional eupseong and expanded as it continued to carry out large-scale housing development projects outside the city. Due to the administrative district reorganization, Daegu City has the largest administrative district in the country and has to overcome the challenges of balanced population distribution and housing supply by region. Therefore, this study examines regional characteristic of Daegu Metropolitan City by analyzing the location, layout, scale, and land use plan of a large-scale residential housing development project Districts. This study is a prior study to investigate specific characteristics of each region that appear in the main layout, shape, and appearance of major apartment complexes in the development project district.

As the global market share of electric vehicles (EVs) continues to grow, incidents involving battery explosions and fires are also on the rise. This alarming trend highlights the inadequacy of current evaluation technologies and design standards for facilities and human safety regarding battery-related hazards, leaving safety measures largely ineffective. To address this issue, a blast analysis of EV battery testing facilities was conducted to predict the blast loads generated during battery explosions. Furthermore, pressure relief vents were installed to evaluate their effectiveness in mitigating blast pressures. Ultimately, this study aims to develop a regression-based safety evaluation model that outlines strategies for reducing blast pressure based on the design specifications of the pressure relief vents.

This study aims to identify categories for improvement and maintenance in neighborhood facilities by examining priorities and the relationship between importance and performance of both indoor and outdoor spaces using POE. To achieve this, we analyzed 302 responses (top 30% in terms of average space satisfaction) selected from 1,001 responses collected between 2022 and 2023, along with quantitative data related to site elements collected in 2024. First, through frequency analysis, spatial satisfaction in neighborhood facilities was higher in shapes other than irregular shapes, in sites with an area of 1,000㎡ or more, with fewer number of roads adjoining the site, when adjacent to a small road(So-ro) with the maximum road width, and when it is one-way traffic. Second, The rank of importance and the "Concentrate Here" areas for spatial satisfaction categories differ depending on the site shape, site area, number and width of adjoining roads, and traffic way patterns. Third, it implies the possibility of a decision-making tool necessary for building design by reflecting site elements and design requirements going with user satisfaction on an online platform that can be updated. It also shows the necessity for neighborhood facilities, for which a general methodology for design has not been established. This study is in the process of confirming the possibility and concreteness of an online platform that can be used as a tool to support decision-making in the early stages of architectural design based on user satisfaction. It is expected to be differentiated in that it can improve the lifespan and evaluation of buildings and the maintenance period of rental programs, and respects the role of architects.
