The purpose of this paper is to analyze the status of Built-up Areas and to categorize district unit plans in Jeju city The conclusion is as follows. First, comparing the current status of Zoning with its current use, it is currently designated as 2nd class residual property and Semi-Residential Zone, in spite of the large number of residential areas. Second, the number of buildings in the aiming area is mostly low-rise (1~2 floors), but the recent spot-development of apartment building alone has greatly affected the landscape. Third, considering the age of buildings over 40 years old, it is judged that repair and support of buildings will be necessary if the Urban Regeneration Projects are promoted. Fourth, distinguishing the type of residential areas, the characteristics of the built-up area in Jeju were reflected in the types that can reflect the history culture in residential and commercial areas, the place where land readjustment project district is proceeded, the row house building type was suggested in order to solve the lack of residential area problem. the purpose of factory is sorted by Waterfront since it is including Jeju-port. Fifth, the Mogwan District, which is Urban Regeneration Projects District, should take into account the identity of Jeju’s historical culture, while the Sinsan Maru District and Namseong Village District seems to be need the maintenance and management of residential areas.

The necessity of the certification system for individual buildings, both at home and abroad, is spreading throughout the building industry, and the certification standards of each country are also becoming effective systems through trial and error. On the other hand, complex development, neighborhood design, further urban design and urban development stages have greater impact on the urban environment than individual buildings, and the necessity of an green building certification system is continuously raised. This study examines the LEED for Neighborhood Development (LEED-ND) certification standards for neighborhood development projects, established and operated by the Green Building Council in the United States. By analyzing the detailed criteria of the items with high application rate, we derived the key elements that represent the ultimate purpose and direction of LEED-ND. Based on this, it is intended to provide the basic data necessary for the improvement and supplementation of the concept of green neighborhood in Korea to be extended to the urban environment level beyond the individual building-oriented standards.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the morphological and functional characteristics of horizontal bands expressed in the UNStudio office projects’ façade. For the analysis of this study, it identifies the morphological and functional characteristics of horizontal bands appearing in Mercedes-Benz Museum, and office projects planned for the period similar to those of Mercedes-Benz Museum (1999~2000). Based on this prior investigation, the plasticity of horizontal bands in the office projects after Mercedes-Benz Museum is derived in terms of morphological and color features. In addition, the functions contained in this horizontal band shape and the link to sustainability are analyzed. The conclusion is that the horizontal bands that appear in the UNStudio's office projects can be viewed in their architectural elements and languages based on various references and case studies. UNStudio embodies its design philosophy and identity as an architect through the horizontal band’s design expressed in facade rather than the entire building form itself. The horizontal bands appearing on the UNStudio's office facade give a formative meaning to functionality in terms of health and well-being for users.

This study is about the application of A-RIDE, a program for planning vertical transportation of high-rise buildings. A-RIDE can be used as an ‘alternative assessment’ and ‘design support’ tool in the early stages of planning for high-rise buildings. During the conceptual design phase, A-RIDE is an alternative assessment tool that can be used as a tool for comparative evaluation of each alternative in determining the layout alternative and vertical usage configuration. And as a design support tool during the schematic design phase, A-RIDE can be used as a tool to adjust the form so that more economical and efficient plan can be made along with the progress of form design. In this study, simulations have shown that A-RIDE can play this role in the process of designing high-rise buildings. High-rise building design fields are being proposed with new design method based on various digital tools. Recent high-rise building design fields are being proposed with new design method based on various digital tools. If A-RIDE, developed as a web-based computer program, can be linked to these digital-based design tools, it is expected that it will serve as a stronger design support tool.

This study aims to investigate the transitional process of townscape from the 1960s to 2018 focused on Nammun-ro 2ga dong in Cheongju city. The process was examined through the 3D digital restoration model of 1971, 1979, 1987, and 2018. It will be able to interpret the past and present urban landscape, while contributing to the prediction of the new urban landscape. The results of this study are as follows. This place had preserved the low and densed townscape until now, being filled with medium-rise buildings on the existing roads and lots. In recent years after the urban decline, as the reconstructions and small scale steel structures are built up, the size and form of buildings are also reverted to the former state. In addition to this, the buildings based on the existing urban structure reused and considered for shop houses, the historic townscape of Nammun-ro 2ga dong will be naturally sustained to the future.

The purpose of this study is to explore the feasibility of low-rise townhouses as an alternative for the regeneration of old detached residential area in large cities Korea. Another aims of the study is to diversify the current polarization of urban dwellings and to come up with ways to respond to the needs of many home buyers who want to live in homes with private gardens without leaving the city. The case study to verify the validity of the this study was focused on the BeomEo-dong area, an old detached residential area in Daegu City. As a result of planning through two cases of individual site and block type site, it was found that the small townhouse types for the urban middle class has many advantages as an alternative to the redevelopment of old residential areas that have reached the limit. At the same time, it was found that in order to activate such a redevelopment method, it is necessary to solve some problems and a countermeasure is needed to supplement this problems.

The demand for the interior industry is on the rise due to the increasing proportion of aging buildings, increasing income levels and quality of life. In the public sector, the number of interior construction projects is continuously increasing due to facilities improvement and institutional transfer. In the public sector, when the interior construction is carried out, it is largely divided into design and construction stages. On the other hand, in order to place an order in the public sector, it requires institutional conditions such as business type, price criterion, award criteria, and guarantees. In the case of interior construction, it is possible to place an order according to the ‘Framework act on the construction industry.’ However, in th case of interior design, it is necessary to establish a basis law to be applied for ordering. Therefore, this study analysed the necessity of improving the system related to the interior design order in the public sector and suggested ways to improve the system. In the future, we will continue to conduct research based on this research, and if institutional improvement is made through the proposed methodology, it will be possible to apply effectively not only in the public sector but also in the private sector.

When it came to the creation of modernity in the realm of building art, it goes without saying that a foremost pioneer figure was Frank Lloyd Wright. About the intimate triangle of the Orientalism, Universalism and Froebelianism for modern ‘creativity’ particularly in regards to the significance and influence of Froebel, Wright realizes and acknowledges very accurately on that more than others. By extension, Wright understood the fact that such three elements are fundamentally as religious, which also are related to the new religion of humanity. But, ironically, his creative originality as strong insistence of only his own was badly hidden according to his relationship with the Far East, particularly with the Japan, moreover, it seems that a philosophical or religious implication of his idea ‘Organic’ was not easily grasped in popular recognition. Therefore, this study focuses on Wright’s discourses on a religious philosophical meaning of existentialism as universal thoughts in spirit of modernity, included not only on the Eastern but also on the Western, that is, focuses on a religious philosophical thought inherent in both, so-called Panentheism. Because the all that Wright searches for belong to so-called legacies of romanticism which are intimate with modern existentialism and thought of humanity that are plainly objects in long discourses under category of modern universalism. Ultimately, which triggers him make an existential time-space as his ‘Organic’ idea. As a result, Wright is capable to reach naturally to more broaden and profound understandings than anyone else at that time because he have a faith in Panentheism from his religion of Unitarianism and have a training by Froebel.

This study aimed to suggest an analysis model quantifying spaces vulnerable to evacuation situations such as a fire accident in general hospitals. Overall study procedure included the legal understanding of emergency exit, the search for frequent fire accident spots and space analysis of hospital. In evacuation simulation, two exit conditions were considered: one was to block walkable spaces around frequent fire spots, and the other was not to block them. User conditions were varied with the use of a crutch, wheelchair. In the application of evacuation simulation model, blocking walkable spaces around frequent fire spots had agents use bypasses and revealed vulnerable evacuation spaces from the result of unblocking condition. In the case of the simulation considering the user’s walking behavior, delayed evacuation result appeared. Finally, this study suggested an analysis model finding spaces vulnerable to evacuation with consideration of bypass and a patient’s walking behavior.

Ground-Source heat pump(GSHP) system uses geothermal energy to provide space cooling or heating. GSHP makes use of energy stores in ground as heat source or heat sink. It is more energy-efficient way of heating and cooling buildings. That is because ground temperature is lower than air temperature in summer time, and higher than air temperature in winter time. Moreover, ground temperature always keep stable during years. But, when the GSHP system runs long time, ground temperature will be changed. and the performance of the GSHP system will be affected. GSHP also can be used as domestic hot water(DHW) system. But the lower temperature of the heat source makes it difficult to get high temperature hot water. Therefore, a GSHP Cooling & DHW combination system was proposed in this study. In the proposed combination GSHP system the condensation heat from the condenser of GSHP cooling system is reused as the heat source of the DHW heat pump. Hence the drop in ground temperature caused by the long time operation of GSHP cooling system will be improved. In order to evaluate the performance of the combination GSHP system, mock-up experiments were conducted. as comparison, the performance of GSHP cooling-only system and GSHP DHW-only system in the same experimental conditions were evaluated too. As experimental results, the coefficient of performance(COP) of the cooling heat pump of the combination system is about 12.93% higher than GSHP cooling-only system, and the COP of the DHW heat pump of the bombination system is about 15.47% higher than GSHP DHW-only heat pump system.
