The purpose of the study was to investigate the evaluation items and importance of urban regeneration planning elements by using historical and cultural resources. This study found its subject site in Uichang-dong, Uichang-gu, Changwon where its urban regeneration project was in progress after it was appointed as a project of urban vitality promotion in 2016. The findings led to the following conclusions and results of importance based on the AHP weight with regard to the urban regeneration project of Uichang-dong, Changwon. The evaluation indicators of the planning elements were divided into four groups. The planning elements were incorporated in to the plans based on historical and cultural resources in the subject site of urban regeneration in Uichang-dong. Both the expert group and local residents gave a top priority to the "rising economic effects for local residents" of the evaluation items of urban regeneration, but there were differences in the frequency of priority answers between them. The analysis of the significance of the plan indicators by sub category shows that it is important in the sub-classification related to economic effects such as “improvement of shopping environment” and “provide financial support system for urban regeneration”.

The purpose of this study is to figure out the characteristics of the rural centers change appearing due to population decreases in Jeollanam-do. The results of the study are summarized as follows. First, it was identified that rapid population decreases and aging have progressed together centering on myeon areas. The rates of population decreases in myeon areas were at least six times higher than those of eup areas and the rates of average ages changes were also shown to be higher in myeon areas than in eup areas. Second, the central place functions of myeon areas have been weakened very much while the central place functions of eup areas have been strengthened. Third, some differences in changes in the functions of the rural centers appeared according to regional characteristics. The center functions of surrounding areas of large cities and small cities tended to be strengthened or maintained and the phenomenon of declines or stagnation of center functions could be more frequently observed in island and rural areas farther from urban areas. Fourth, the functions of center related to expertism & technology, which are higher central industries and the basic living services for residents were bring weakened. It could be seen that following the population decreases, the spatial structures of rural areas were changing in much different ways from the past. In the long run, it is expected that the hierarchical structure will be simplified and converge into one or two center forms. Therefore, it is necessary to seek the development direction of rural areas to establish bases for the provision of living services such as welfare, culture, and various convenience functions in line with such changes.

In the past, our country has developed based on production-oriented heavy industry and light industry. However, due to the change of industrial structure, the industrial complex which was the center of the city lost its function and was left stationary. In order to solve this problem, many urban regeneration projects have been carried out through the regeneration of the industrial complexes. As a result, they are confirmed that the remodeling, cultural arts, and residents' participation programs are focused on. However, the ongoing cultural and arts programs did not contain local characteristics, and they were able to confirm the lack of local win-win and self-sustenance. As a result of analyzing the characteristics of the cases with some economic effects, it is found that the characteristics of place-based and industry-based programs were combined with the arts and culture. Based on these results, it is considered that this thesis is meaningful as a basis for future regenerating direction of waste industrial facilities and idle space.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the constructing process of the Ddeulzip in Yeongyang, which is located in the middle east side of Andong. The Ddeulzip is a kind of noble house belonging to the Chosun Dynasty in the Andong cultural area. The constructing process of various branched families into the local village is largely divided into three time periods. They are divided into the Early(15~16C), Middle(17~18C) and Late(19~20C) periods. There are various reasons for the migration of many branched families into the local village of Andong and these include : political escape, war, shelter, and fengshui. As time progressed, these branched families were connected by study and marriage relationships. During the Early Period, only two houses of the Ddeulzip were built. At the Middle Period, various branched families built Ddeulzips. At the Late Period, most of branched families built the Ddeulzip constantly. At the time of late 20C, they still built some of the Ddeulzip. It's unusual case. Thus, they maintained the traditional noble culture of house by the Ddeulzip.

Throughout the process of modernization around the world, architectural and urban planning of most of cities has been planned on the basis of quantitative expansion. Therefore, it has obvious limitations in terms of mass production of uniform cityscape that does not reflect regional personality. In order to improve the disadvantages of the existing urban planning and zoning system, the newly proposed〝Form-Based Codes〞are based on the characteristics of the buildings and the space that reflect the regional characteristics. It is presented as an alternative to offset the shortcomings of the plan and is being introduced in many cities overseas. In this study, the Transit Zoning Code of Santa Ana City, which was established on the basis of Form-Based Codes, was analyzed based on the urban criteria that directly affect the composition of the building and the scale of street space, size, and height of the building, and it will suggest implications for the development of a urban space in many cities in Korea.

Securing the quality of the temporary structure at the construction site is a very important factor in securing the quality of the structure and safety of workers. Nevertheless, a considerable number of construction materials are reused without proper quality control, which threatens not only the quality of the structure but also the safety of the construction. In particular, the degree of defective pipe supports is very serious. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to present a reasonable method for repair or supplement quality control to ensure the quality of reused pipe supports through performance tests. As a result of the study, the pipe support is composed of a combination of various parts, and it is necessary to dispose of the product which is worn out significantly by the male screw, and to repair the inner pipe, it is difficult to secure the overlapping length. In addition, quality control through repair and supplementation seems to be more important than replacement or repair of any part.

The purpose of this study is to suggest an architectural planning method of the youth activity facilities in community to support youth activities. The Study conducted a survey on the Youth who are the main users of the youth training center and derive the importance factor. Recently, various organizations are making an effort to support healthy youth activities. However, based on the result of the survey, most of the Youth were found to spend their free time on using digital media devices, resting at home, staying at school, singing at karaoke room, or visiting PC room. The majority of the Youth showed low interest and awareness on the youth facilities and their policies. In addition, there were few youth related facilities in use actively. Moreover, the Youth who participated the survey requested more on the youth facilities for leisure activities. Therefore, it is expected that the facility and the special support should be urgently provided. The functionality is the most important part of the overall architectural classification of the youth training center, and the public space for resting and social interaction should be the key factors in designing the space program of the building. The factors affecting the importance of the youth training center are as follows. In the 'Education & Training Space' category, the club room had the greatest influence on the architectural space programming according to the importance, followed by the astronomical observation room, library room, and education training room. In the case of the 'Social & Sports Space', the indoor gymnasium had the greatest influence on the architectural space programming according to the importance, followed by rock climbing, swimming pool, outdoor sports facility, and weight training room. And, the indicators affecting the importance of the ’Cultural Space' sector are as follows: audio-visual room, singing practice room, grand performance hall, and cultural center. In the 'Office/Management Space', mechanical & electrical office, director’s office, maintenance room & office, and education program development room were derived as indicators of importance. Lastly, in the ‘Public Space' category, roof gardens, cafeteria, rest area, book cafe, and parking lot were derived as important factors

The purpose of this study is to secure the basic materials as reference to operate and maintain the proper architectural award policy in the future by understanding overall condition and problems of architectural award policy for buildings completed by Korean local governments. I investigated the operating condition of architectural award policy via the internet surfing, telephone interview with public officials and analyzed the findings. The results are as follows: 1) From January 1971 to December 2016, the architectural award policies were run in 15 out of 17 metropolitan cities and provinces (88.2%); 40 out of 226 cities and countries (17.7%). 2) As of December 2016, the number of the cities taking effect the architectural award policy is 11 (73.3%) for metropolitan cities, and 12 (28.6%) for cities and countries. The reasons why the policy was interrupted are: short number of the entries, the consolidation of the awards between metropolitans and provinces, violation of election law, absence of legal basis, short of budget and so on. 3) Among the local governments with the architectural award policy, the number of those that had the regulation (ordinance) related with architectural award was 12 (80.0%) for metropolitan cities and provinces (80.0%); 20 cities and countries (50.0%). 4) The names of the awards are usually ‘grand prize, best prize, excellence prize’ and ‘gold prize, silver prize, bronze prize’. 5) The type of the contest is usually categorized into ‘residence, non-residence’ or ‘general, public’ buildings.

In this study, the system classified by the Cultural Heritage Administration was reanalyzed according to the disaster characteristics that are occurring every year in the building cultural properties. In addition, the causes of the existing damage classification were investigated and the direction of the future vulnerable research areas was to be presented. The research was largely divided into midand long-term focused research areas and the following conclusions were drawn. 1) As there is no specific case study of damage to architectural cultural assets, it is urgent to find out the cause of each type of damage, and if the damage occurs, a scientific investigation at the exact site should be conducted, and related data should be established first. 2) It is difficult to clearly define the cause of the damage due to ambiguous criteria and classification of disaster types of building cultural assets. 3) Damage cases were analyzed by distinguishing natural disasters of architectural cultural assets into heavy rains and typhoons, and common words(keywords) were derived by reviewing related research papers, patents, and reports, and restructured data related to research with this word. 4) Based on the data analyzed, the suggestion was made for the mid- to long-term research field of architectural cultural assets. In other words, major activities before natural disasters occur and activities to respond to disasters in the midst of natural disasters, and long-term recovery plans for damage should be comprehensively studied after natural disasters occur.

This study focuses on the completed expression of square that is centripetal, which is conflicted with the emphasis of ‘function’ and its ‘free plan’ that is centrifugal, in modern private housings designed by a lot of avant-garde who have a new creative free-will at the turn of the century, and tries to relate it with the meanings of modernity, and finally to comprehend the meanings with the cognition of individual ‘self’ as existential contexts. As a result, like scientists, philosophers or theologians in the process toward a new modernity, modern avant-garde artists undoubtedly seems to find fundamentally new existential self in common since the beginning of intellectual quest on the underlying problem of God and Humane. Thus naturally, they were awakening themselves as human having ‘free-will’ ultimately like God, and they reached a new recognition and confidence in the ‘divine’ creativity of modern existential self.

Space is divided from the beginning into public spaces and historical spaces depending on usage and function, but in reality there is also an intermediate area between them, or a 'Third space'. "Third Space" has spatial characteristics that are shared together and in the process promotes social cooperation. The "Third space" was found in the traditional Chinese residential complex, Sahap. These spatial characteristics are not necessarily the same. It has been confirmed that it also exists in the residential spaces of informal modern Chinese cities such as Longchang-Gongyu and has played a role of uniting and strengthening the community through analysis of residents' living behaviors. Community life is carried through the structure of space where public space and private space form an organic relationship. In China's big cities, these existing spatial structures are disintegrating due to massive development. But in the meantime, you can find unique dwellings of an introverted spatial structure that maintains a flexible communal spatial relationship. In this example, the flexible relationship between public and private space can be explored and the meaning of alternative spatial structure in Chinese metropolitan dwellings can be found.

Recently, Korea and the U.S. have undergone a major change in the Architect Registration Exam. Korea will abolish the preliminary examination in 2019, and starting next year, only those with a KAAB accredited degree will be eligible for the Architect Registration Exam after three years of architecture experience training. In the U.S., the ARE 4.0 which had been in operation since 2009 was terminated and the ARE 5.0 has been tested since July 2018. At this point in time, this study focused on the Architect Registration Exam and the Architecture Experience Program in Korea and the U.S.. The study found that, Korea's Architect Registration Exam and related systems need to be interlinked and the Architecture Experience Program needs to be improved in terms of detailed regulations and the designation of a minimum number of days for each training item. In addition, it is desirable that the Korean Architect Registration Exam is converted into a computer-based test and automatic evaluation system while improving the method of testing and verifying the training contents covered by the Architecture Experience Program.

South Korea faced a low birthrate problem. This created a problem of reducing the use of educational facilities among many problems. However, the infant intake rate of kindergartens is steadily increasing compared to the declining birthrate. The increase in the number of nuclear family members and women entering the society, and the in crease in the number of children without working together, is attributable to the increase in the number of kindergarteners. Even if they want to send their infants to public kindergartens, they can’t afford to send their babies due to the lack of public kindergartens and acceptance rates. Due to these problems, it is suggested that unuesd classrooms, which were created by a decrease in the number of elementary school students, be used as public kindergartens. Therefore, study on the public kindergarten of using unused classroom of elementary school. To improve the educational space of Attached-kindergarten using idle classes in elementary school, that case study on the public elementary school utilizing unused class in Jinju City.
