I investigate the relation between owner-family ownership and corporate productivity (performance) using the 317 non-financial and non-construction firms listed on the Korea Stock Exchange. I find owner-family ownership is both prevalent and substantial ; owner-families are present 90.5 percent of sample. Contrary to my conjecture which owner-family firms perform better than non-owner- family ones, the owner-family ownership is not a significant determinant of the corporate performance. Accordingly there is not accepted the results of the prior studies which owner-family firms are more effective business structure than non-owner-family ones in Korea.

One of the most serious problems facing Korean economy is the erosion of international competitiveness since wage rate increases high and wage payment system is inferior. We know that the factor market responses the changes in product market. However, both price and employment adjustment mechanisms are not working properly in Korea. Thus factor market responds through the overtime adjustment. However, due to the shortening of legal working hours, even the overtime adjustment is not properly working,During the 1976-2004 period, nominal wage increased 14.9% in nonagricultural sector and 15.4% in manufacturing sector, however nominal labor productivity increased 12.6% and 14.7% respectively. Even after the IMF bailout, wage increased faster than labor productivity except in 1998.We find that the major problems in the process of wage settlement are as follows:When labor and management negotiate over wage increase, they utilize the data based on economic forecast, resulting in huge gap in perceiving appropriate rates of wage increase. Furthermore it is noticed that rate of wage increase is higher than productivity increase. In order to resolve this problem, we suggest that both labor and management agree moderate wage increase and they may adjust wage later in the form of extra bonus, considering profit and labor productivity by the end of year as Japan and Singapore adopted the system since 1980s.

This study examines whether physical attractiveness influences raters expectation of performance and intention to cooperate. After seeing the portrait photos of 15 insurance agents, subjects rate high expectation of performance and intention to cooperate on photos with high attractiveness than those with low attractiveness. The study also investigates the relationship between physical attractiveness and actual performance. The result shows attractive insurance agents perform higher than less-attractive agents.

This research examined the relationship between employee personality and psychological contract type, perceptions of contract breach, and feelings of contract violation. 4 personality characteristics(self-esteem, self-efficacy, locus of control, and needs for achievement) are considered in this study. Except self-esteem, 3 personality were revealed to reported psychological type, and it was failed to predict perceived breach and violation with personality characteristics. It seems to be led to large restructuring in Korean firms. And breach and violation is more associated with intention to quit than perceived performance.

The present study analyzed the effects of dysfunctional factors in mobile commerce, based on the performance variables of mobile commerce such as utility and usability, and identified critical failure factors that have significant impacts on these performance variables. In addition, this study investigated the differences of customers' expectation for the expansion of mobile commerce according to their perception on the performance of mobile commerce. In the first group of hypotheses, regression analysis was performed to test seven hypotheses related to the dysfunctional factors of mobile commerce and performance variables, and in the second group of hypotheses, ANOVA was used to analyze the differences in customers' expectation for the expansion of mobile commerce among performance variables groups.According to the result of analysis regarding the utility, the major dysfunctional factors hindering the activation of mobile commerce were ‘the limit of the performance of mobile hardware’, ‘the limit of the function of mobile software’, and ‘the problem of mobile cost and standards.’ Major dysfunctional factors with regard to the usability were ‘the limit of the performance of mobile hardware’ and ‘the limit of the function of mobile software.’ In the analysis of differences in customers' expectation for the activation of mobile commerce according to their perception on the performance of utility and usability, those who recognized the higher performance of mobile commerce showed the higher expectation for the expansion of mobile commerce than those who recognized the lower or modest performance of mobile commerce.

There is a growing preference for committee-type organization to respond properly to diverse and complex change of public administration demand. Particularly in the Participation Government of Korea, 11 presidential advisory committees are involved in policy making process deeply with presidential support. Considering the hyper level of status and distinctive role of them in Korean administrative context, it is necessary to study their status, role, behaviour and problems during policy making process in terms of its contribution to the governmental productivity. The objective of this article is to analyze presidential advisory committee focusing on National Balanced Development Committee from the viewpoint of institutional aspect and empirical aspect to qualitatively and exploratorily evaluate its potential influence on governmental productivity.It is found from the research that the committee has an ambiguous role in the process of governmental decision making and, thus it is likely to hamper governmental productivity. As a conclusion, it is suggested that presidential committee should be either advisory committee or administrative committee to have a adequate position in the process of governmental decision making to contribute to improvement of governmental productivity.

The purpose of the study is to compare the satisfaction between the Korean exporters and Japanese exporters by the contract results of each conditions(price, quality, quantity, payment, shipment and insurance, etc.) after conclusion of the international contract.General conditions in front page of the contract which mentioned above are regarded as very core factors between contracting parties. After the contract, Korean and Japanese exporters would be satisfied with the results of the conditions in the contract. However, they would not be satisfied with same conditions in same gravity.Thus, as a result, in non-product factors such as shipment, payment, insurance and package terms, it is found out that the satisfaction of Korean exporters is bigger than those of Japanese exporters. On the other hand, in product factors like price, quality and quantity terms, it is proved that there are no differences of satisfaction between them.Finally, when non-product factors compare with product factors, both Korean and Japanese exporters are samely satisfied much bigger in contract results in conditions of product factors than those of non-product factors.

This paper presents how to develop an environmental reporting guideline in the digital format using XBRL(eXtensible Business Reporting Language), which is an XML language specialized in business reporting. XBRL allows for writing business reports in a consistent and flexible manner by defining concepts and relationships. The Korean environmental reporting guideline is used as a reference example for demonstrating the potential of a XBRL taxonomy for the digital-format guideline. Based on the experience, we discuss the applicability of XBRL to environmental reporting and review how to prepare for the standardization of such a taxonomy in the near future.
