This paper examines Comenius’ educational theological thoughts in the light of Pansophia and Pampaedia. First of all, I take a general review on Comenius, then look into his basic educational concept, ‘characteristics of God, Man, and Nature.’ Lastly, I deal with ‘Pansophia,’ ‘Pampaedia,’ and ‘a method of Pampaedia’ as a pedagogical principle. Known as an educationist, theologian, philosopher, and sense realist to the field of education, Comenius is, most of all, a renowned master of modern pedagogy. Among his numerous works, ‘The Great Didactic’ and 􀁲The Analytical Didactic’ provide wisdom of teaching method to teachers involved in school education, and 􀁲Pampaedia’ introduces his philosophy and method of education. Comenius systemizes a correlation among God, Man, and Nature as a theological theme that promotes whole-person education and development of community. Especially, the three intrinsic abilities of man - thought, language, and behavior - enable every man to realize the essence of knowledge and truth of every object, and eventually to manage a rational, ethical, and godly life. The center of his philosophy is Pansophia, and Pampaedia can be understood as a way to actualize Pansophia. By reaching knowledge, virtue, and piety through Pampaedia of Pansophia, Comenius is eager to be close to God, and to achieve peace in the world.

Many Bible scholars and well-intented Christian have argued about the Lord’s Supper for the recovery of Biblical worship because of crisis of worship in contemporary church. One of essential components is the Lord’s Supper what Jesus commanded at the table with his disciples. After observing His last Passover feast with the disciples, Jesus said “This cup which is poured out for you is the new covenant in My blood”(Lk 22:20) The first covenant God made with his people was sealed with the shedding of blood. The new covent too was to be sealed by shedding of blood of Jesus Christ. When Christians take the Lord’s Supper, they affirm their participation in a new covenant between God and His people, covenant where the blood of the Son of God has become the basis upon which one appeals to God’s grace and experiences the forgiveness of sins. The aim of this paper is to explore the Lord’s Supper as covenant meal to revitalize worship in the Korean church. The first part of this paper presents the covenants of God, the Lord’s Supper as a seal of the New Covenant and a meal of kingdom of God. The later part of this paper will examine the Lord’s Supper as covenant meal from the Old Testament background(covenants meals in the Clan, at Mount Sinai, in the Sacrificial Systems), covenant meal in the Church(covenant community), and covenant meal in the Eschaton.

This article studies a communicative perspective for the Evangelization in the multicultural context. For this academic purpose, this study examines how to understand the communicative relationship between the Christian Gospel and culture under the multicultural context, how to overcome the cultural shock during the gospel communication process under the multicultural context, and how to achieve the successful gospel communication through the Christian missiological and homiletical perspective. In order to communicate the Christian gospel in the multicultural context, evangelist should perceive the fact that the Bible, evangelist himself/herself, and the gospel receiver all belong to the specific cultural contextual boundary, and are confined by it as well. In the biblical interpretation process evangelist need to pass the de- contextualization step in order to separate the universal and general significance of the text from the specific biblical cultural context, The following step is to re-contextualization through which the general meaning of the text may acquire its relevant significance congenial to the receiver's cultural context, In order to accelerate the gospel communication in the multicultural context, the Korean church should seek the Christian education and preaching for the paradigm shift about the multicultural context, offer the Korean Christian various learning opportunities to experience the multicultural environment in Korea, and carry out social welfare policy for the multicultural emigrants who belong to the minority group in Korea.

The aim of this study is to investigate and to evaluate the late Rev. Min Youngwan’s life and ministry from a practical theological perspective, and to apply the findings to contemporary ministerial settings. Having participated in the Non-shrine Worship Movement against Japanese militarists, Rev. Min worked for 45 years as a pastor of the Presbyterian Church in Korea(PCKK, Kosin). With a view toe valuating Rev. Min’s spirituality and ministry, this study discusses a prac` tical hermeneutical perspective of marginality, discussing two elements constituting pastoral ministry in the introduction, i.e. the contextual element and the theological element. His spirituality of marginality is revealed in selfdenial and allegiance to the Lord, resistance to the coercive Shinto shrine worship by Japanese militarists, participation in the truth movement of a minority group with pure faith and holy conscience, self-sacrifice and the pursuit of God􀁳s glory. His spirituality accompanies not only the vertical, personal dimension but also the horizontal, communal dimension, that is to say, a future-oriented, adventurous aspect, union with others and concern for the weak. Rev. Min’s view of ministry can be viewed as a ministry led by the praxis of the Word(God), the subject of ministry. Rev. Min’s spirituality of marginality and his ministry led by the Word are significant praxis model suggesting the theological paradigm regarding the essence of ministry in the contemporary ministerial settings in which ministry directs towards the centrality of worldly powers.

Korean churches have been making remarkable progress in world evangelism not to mention domestic evangelism. This is the fruit of sacrifice made by early missionaries who came to this land of darkness, planted the seed of the gospel and disappeared from the earth without a name. They could expand the Kingdom of God in a foreign land thanks to the financial support along with the spread of the gospel. In other words, they had collection of offerings from their worship service. Offering is substance that a Christian dedicates to God through worship. The reason we give offering is because it is the response to the eternal life, remission of sins and salvation that Jesus Christ has fulfilled. People wouldn't feel burdened during the time for offering if they understood what the Bible says about offering. Conversely, people would be excited and thrilled to be a part of the offering if they knew the right meaning of offering. This paper intends to inform Christians that restoration of biblical concept of offering can bring so much joy to the time of offering during worship􀀏􀀁Based on the awareness of ministers and Christians, the following will be discussed.

Today, the family that is the oldest and most important institution is collapsing seriously. And this situation is becoming a challenge demands countermeasures of churches and society as a whole. ‘Mutual care’ is one of the newly formed paradigms in the realm of pastoral care. Historically mutual care has existed in the early church and it is re-emerging as a paradigm in the recent years. Nevertheless there has not been many attempts to clarify mutual care theologically. Taking note of these, the author introduced the theological concept of ‘perichoresis’ that can encompass the concept of mutual care relatively well. Perichoresis is the concept used in the immanent trinity, one of the representative discussion about the trinity. This can be translated into the ‘mutual penetration.’ It is the providing a space for one another to participate while respecting the autonomy of each participant. This concept can show how mutual care should be done in the pastoral care. Therefore the author suggested three measures to achieve this relation: ‘provide space for others,’ ‘participate in the lives of others,’ and ‘respect one’s autonomy.’ My discussions is expected to reduce negative consequences resulted from the pursuit of volume growth in modern church growth and to bring positive impact on building a healthy church in the Bible.

The purpose of this article is to study the foundations of the missional ecclesiology from a theological perspective in order to lead diverse efforts to the growth of the true church. Even though the Korean Church grew rapidly in the past, it is undergoing a serious stagnation since the 1990s. It is because most of the Korean Church has pursued church growth only in a just pragmatical angle. Theologically right angles have been ignored from the beginning. Seeing church growth from the viewpoint of missional ecclesiology, we cannot recognize all kinds of church growth to be positive unconditionally. Local churches must be born again to be the missional church to grow rightly. The growth of the missional church is based on four signs?unity, catholicity, holiness, and apostolicity􀁮of the true church that were fixed in the creed of Council of Nicaea. Those four can be admitted as criterions for evaluating local churches from a standpoint of the true church. This theological work of church growth makes us overcome the limitations of pragmatic approaches and can provide a new paradigm of church growth.

The purpose of this article is to introduce the academic discipline called "congregational studies" and to discuss its possible contributions as well as limitations to pastoral care within a congregation. To do this, the essay first briefly introduces the history and research trend of congregational studies, and then discusses its relevance to pastoral care. By engaging in this discussion, this article examines congregational studies possible contributions, both in general and to Korean churches, and limitations to pastoral care within a congregation. Congregational studies that mainly investigates single or multiple local congregations using qualitative and ethnographical descriptions helps understand and broadened local church’s caring ministry. Particularly, congregational studies uncovers the implicit ways a caring ministry happens within the congregation. Despite its positive contributions, however, congregational studies has limitations; it provides how to understand congregations does not provide how to change people. The article, thus, concludes that congregational studies in relation to pastoral care in congregation needs to provide strict assessment which provide concrete suggestions to specific caring ministry in congregation.
