The Analysis of Trade Show Industry in Beijing

This article tries to make an in-depth and comprehensive elaboration on the Beijing’s trade show industry in 2008, through analyzing the number of trade shows, scale, industry type, the composition of organizers and exhibitors, the opinion of exhibitors and trade visitors, etc. There are several important conclusions. Firstly, the trade shows declined in numbers; Secondly, the industry types are steadying; Thirdly, small and medium-sized enterprises and private enterprises are the main body of the exhibitors. Fourthly, the exhibitors’ and trade visitors’ evaluation of the trade shows were poor than before. On this basis, the article puts forward some countermeasure and advices, such as carrying the reform of trade show industry steadily, improving the facilities of the venues, strengthening the invitation of buyers and elevating the quality of the exhibitors. Through the analysis, the article can draw the following conclusions:(1)Influenced by some restrictive policies and the loss of some exhibitions, the number of exhibitions decreased.(2) The number of exhibitions in the main industry was stable, and education, training, art exhibitions have the distinct advantage, consumer leisure exhibition and other exhibitions related Beijing industry are equally significant.(3) The organizers of exhibition were diversified, and industry organizations played a predominant role.
The Influence of Export Support Program of Government at International Trade Fairs

This research examines characteristics of supporting programs for overseas exhibition which assists export of the government and measures the effect of programs on supported exhibitors' performance at ITFs. The study is to identify the multi-dimensional attributes of ITFs support programs of government. Attributes of supporting programs for ITFs reflected multiple dimensions, such as selection of export-effective ITFs, the amount of supporting money for attending ITFs, pavilion booth design and pavilion booth position at ITFs, and on-site management and post-show promotion supporting for the exhibitors. Performance variables are identified by two dimensions, including selling performance and non-selling performance. The study identified three dimensional attributes of government's supporting programs such as institution factor, policy implementation factor and booth factor. From multiple regression analyses, it is found that the institution factor and the booth factor have a positive effect on both the selling and non-selling performance of supported exhibitors, while the policy implementation factor has no positive effect on the selling or the non-selling performance. It is also found that both selling and non-selling performance have positive effect on their overall satisfaction with participating the ITFs, but only the non-selling performance has a slight positive effect on the intention of re-participation of the ITFs.

Although exhibition space has sharply increased in recent years, there is no study on how these increases affect the exhibition industry. This study examines the relationship between the increase in exhibition space and the growth and change of the exhibition industry. Key findings are as follows: (1) With the increased exhibition space, the number of exhibitions held each year also rose steadily from 132 events in 2000 to 354 events in 2007 (2.68 times of increase over 2000). (2) Exhibition share by region has greatly changed due to the influence of increased exhibition space in the region out of Seoul. Seoul has experienced the on -going decline in share from 72.76% in 2003 to 64.29% in 2005 and 52.82% in 2007. On the other hand, exhibition share by other regions are on the increase. (3) In spite of sharp increase in exhibition space, average operation rate of exhibition center has been maintained at the level of 50-60% along the overall uprising trend. This means that the increased exhibition space not only accommodate the potential demand but also promote it actively. (4) The exhibition space in 2007(37,213,432㎡) jumped 150% compared to 2001(14,704,305㎡) and Compound Annual Growth Rate(CAGR) for the last 6 years since 2001 was 16.74%. This means that increased exhibition space had an effect on the growth of the exhibition industry.

The purpose of this study is to find the ways to stimulate the exhibition and convention industry in Incheon through connections within the exhibition and convention industry of Northeastern Asia. The exhibition and convention industry of an area is reflective of the level of industrial development and potential market scale of that area. Therefore, market integration in Northeastern Asia region will be essential to concentrate its advantage and crate synergistic effects for strategic partners. To carry out this goal for Incheon, the paper discusses four suggested strategies. First, develop specialized trade shows in northeastern Asia. Second, Incheon can go for road-shows with these specialized trade shows when they reach the level of well-known branded exhibition. Third, with China's continuing economic growth, a number of Korean and Japanese firms aim at entering the Chinese market. Ideally, Incheon will develop a trade show and co-organize it to increase matchmaking opportunities for exhibitors and buyers looking for new business. Finally, Incheon should develop key relationships to share information and know-how for better ideas, and have more meetings and seminars for education within the industry.

The purpose of this paper is to grasp the present situation and obstacles of export marketing of the Korean cultural contents industry including animations, music, character, cartoons, games, and mobile contents, and suggest the activation devices of overseas marketing. As the result of analyzing domestic and foreign companies cases engaged in the cultural contents industry, the main obstacle factors of its export marketing were the problems of public relations and precedures, the information capacity for overseas market, export experience, export market diversification and logistics including law and system. Therefore, in order to activate the overseas marketing of the cultural contents industry, the government and related companies should take measures such as the enlargement of specialized manpower, the construction of integrated information networks, promoting active cultural exchange, strengthening international joint development projects including improve-ment of distribution channels. In addition, the government should help the cultural contents industry develop global marketing strategies and also assist the related companies to enter foreign markets through the analyzing trends in the domestic and global market, collecting statistics, and policy development.

This paper analyzed relationship between service quality of exhibition and visitor's satisfaction. Visitors' satisfaction is affected by exhibition program and event, physical service, PR activities. And service quality has a decisive effect on visitors' behavioral intentions - words of mouth, recommendation of exhibitions. Therefore, this paper informed that show organizers and exhibitors will realize the importance of visitors satisfaction. And if they want to hold and participate exhibitions successfully in the future, they will identify and serve the positively influencing factors on visitors' behavioral intention.
