Design is related to every area including art, engineering, science, and humanics but has its focus areas alternate according to the technological advancements. The movement has been accelerated in the information era. Today design concentrates its attention to the user demands and needs rather than science and technology. Ubiquitous fashionable computer is one of the natural flows stemming from that paradigm change of the times. But even that kind of new design can't escape from the conventional framework if the modules and WearNet, which are the hardware of UFC, are not detachable. Thus there is a need for the structural design of multi-functional clothes by utilizing reconstructable modules and detachable WearNet that's communication route among modules. By taking advantage of detachable modules and WearNet, one can lead the infusion of next generation IT technology and fashion and open the door to a new UFC era that's human friendly and fashionable. Thus this study set the following goals; first, to develop UFC design guidelines by reflecting the user demands and needs and using detachable modules and WearNet; second, to take a survey to identify the evaluation items for the guideline items and suggest a new UFC design to meet the user needs based on the detailed improvements; and third, to suggest a UFC modular system using detachable and thus reconstructable modules and WearNet according to the user's taste. Chapter 4 covered the following sections of the entire design process: scenario development→concept development→design progress→prototype development→test of the integration between clothes and hardware→making UFC clothes→incorporating hardware into UFC clothes. The process of making UFC clothes was divided into clothes design and product design, and the research contents and design directions of each stage were examined in terms of technology and design. As a result, one piece of each male and female UFC clothes that could be worn on the college campus or at a conference was made using detachable modules and WearNet. The third generation UFC clothes is based on the modular system that can attach and detach modules, WearNet, and the constituents of clothes and presents the UFC design of a new concept as a flexible clothing system that can change many ways according to the situations of daily life. It's significant that it's a new design approach to establish a UFC design process in the viewpoint of fashion and define such UFC design elements as silhouette, material, color, and technical detail in terms of clothes and products design.

Young generations have a lot of effects on fashion in the 20st century and the influence is being increased gradually. Specially, punk style had a great deal of effects on fashion and its role comes to more spotlight than any times since the style is one out of high-fashion design sources. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to grasp characteristics of punk couture through its analysis and to propose the possibility of new design creation applying such elements. The study analyzed theoretical background and work cases of punk couture and manufactured punk couture fashion illustration. As the results of analyzing the fashion design of punk couture, they were as follows. First, punk was introduced to high fashion after 1980s. As the results, its inner meaning disappeared and only imitation of its style was distinguished. Second, punk couture was expressed by mix & match between cutting and textile and coordination of punk-style elements. Third, as the results of analyzing work cases of punk couture in modern fashion, the resistant element as low-class culture was changed to polished features answering modern finality by being recreated and amended. Fourth, on the basis of the above results, the study manufactured works. As the results, punk couture proposed the unlimited possibility, giving arts or fashion pursuing only beauty a fresh impact.

The aim of this study was to examine new materials and images in fashion collections of the 2000s to reveal the relationships between society, value, material, style and image and predict the fashion materials and images for the future from a fashion design perspective based on these analyses. Collections of the 2000s were selected from style.com. In case a new material was used for clothing, the social, fashion and value backgrounds for the new material were examined, and the intended image extracted. New fashion materials in the 2000s were found to be much lighter and softer and machine- washable. There were intellectual materials with particular functions and newly treated leather and silks. The images of the fashion collections of the 2000s can be divided into luxurious image, minimalist image, feminine image, ethnic image and futuristic image. In the future, demands for intelligent materials are expected to increase in a society of information. With globalization complete, ethnic style will only adopt traditional images but probably use new materials. Materials are expected to become even lighter and softer as technology advances and people pursue a healthy lifestyle, and with the importance of brands and designs, a variety of materials will be applied, mixed and matched in fashion.

For the progress of the fashion industry, we need to seek high quality and differentiation of the wears and one of the way is to develop design motif. The purpose of this study is to make creative designs by selecting inspiring paintings from the abstract painting in the first half of the 20th century, analyzing their artistic beauty and introducing their motif. The methodology of the study is composed of document study and manufacture. To design fashion that I researched papers regarding abstract painting and surveyed the concept, back ground, orgin, and development of abstract paintings. Based on this study, I studied design cases which took motif from abstract painting. The result of this study is as follows. The seek of pure from which was prevalent in every area of Art Vivant in the first half of the 20th century, was present in Cubism, Futurism, Fauvisme, Purism, Neo-plasticism, Suprematism, Constructivism, and Expressionism. Each school has its abstract idea in various ways and it gave inspiration to creative fashion design. The color and simple forms of the early 20th abstract paintings was appropriate for functional dressing and modern art. The design concept is casual feminity in luxurious mood. Motif of abstract paintings was expressed with design factors such as line, shape, and pattern and feminie sense was expressed with creativity and current trend. The motif was taken from the painting of Hemri Matisse, Wassily Kandinsky, Robert Delaunay, Piet Mondrian, and Paul Klee who made a great contribution to abstract painting history in the early 20th century. I analyzed their color and shape and retranslated them into the motif of my works. As a result, the vivid color of abstract paintings was appropriate for modern sensibility and the shape of abstract paintings was appropriate for creating simplicity and functionality of modern art. As fashion is evolved to reflect the current culture, I also suggest the potential of design as high value product in the 21st century by combining functionality and art into my work.

Acculturation is incessantly taking placing in the process that globalization is making a rapid progress. And it occurs beyond space and time. In this stream, orientalism and ethnic look have been in the limelight in several fields, such as social, cultural, artistic fields, as they have become the principal themes of contemporary fashion since the 1990s. In keeping with this stream of the times, this study attempted to present traditional Korean embroidered patterns, especially the geometrical pattern, against the cultural consciousness of the ‘globalization of traditional culture’. The reason is that traditional Korean embroidery has a long history and reflects even the national characteristic to an extent that it is not an exaggeration to say that it emerged at the same time with the fomentation of Korean people. Accordingly, it is thought to be easily accepted in several parts of the world, which can be said to be the potential possibility of the geometrical pattern. This study adopted the following research method: First, it attempted to make a diachronic investigation of the concept, characteristic and evolutionary process of traditional Korean embroidery through the descriptive study and analyze the concept and kind of geometrical patterns. Second, it sought to examine that geometrical patterns are the design shown in national costume in several parts of the world by reference to empirical materials such as collections, photos, design and the like in the museum and investigate the plasticity of traditional Korean costume and ornaments. Third, it attempted to introduce the case that geometrical patterns are applied in the world fashion circles, analyze the works of Korean designers with a focus on traditional Korean embroidered patterns and investigate the scheme for its application. And this study were much helped by the previous studies groping for the combination of traditional pattern and contemporary fashion. This study has its significance in that it proposed the method to apply the geometrical pattern of traditional embroidery to contemporary fashion. It is expected that the results of this study will lay the foundation for recreating the Korean image and globalizing the traditional Korean pattern.
