This study analyzed the reason why the use of youth facilities among teenagers in Seoul is decreased after investigating cases of teenagers using youth facilities. As a result, we found that youth facilities in Seoul have uniformed architectural space organization, programs, and institutional strategy and fail to meet the demand of trend-conscious teenagers. Moreover, this study looked into problems of current youth facilities, and these problems include that they fail to reflect regional characteristics and lack flexibility with variability of space organization include programs both externally and internally. Through analyzing these problems, this study suggested a future direction for architecture of youth facilities.



청소년의 국민정체성이 다문화수용성에 미치는 영향

The purpose of this research is to identify the degree of adolescent’s national identity and multicultural acceptability and to check the impact of adolescent’s national identity on multicultural acceptability. First of all, the studies on multicultural acceptability and national identity are reviewed. Based on the reviews, the concept of national identity is divided into ethnic factor and civil factor. Korean Multiculturalism Inventory for Adolescent(KMCI-A) developed by Ministry of Gender Equality & Family Republic of Korea is used for the concept of multicultural acceptability as the dependent variable. The research subject boy’s and girl’s high school is selected by random method in Incheon area and 620 students answered the questionnaires. The survey period is from Mar. 11, 2014 to Mar. 21, 2014. Only 571 ones are analysed because of unanswered or unreliable response. The result of analysis shows that only ethnic identity negatively impacts on all 5 multicultural acceptability factors(stereotypes and discrimination, intention of mutual exchange, global civil action, cultural openness and sentiment of rejection and avoidance) and the degree of impact is relatively strong. However, civil identity positively impacts on only cultural openness and global civil action.

This study aims to investigate the perceptions of the field workers and experts in education welfare area on the controversial policy issues raised in the institutionalization of education welfare in Korea. Systematic survey analysis with multi-stage cluster sampling of field workers and experts tells that the scope of education welfare should have more focus on solution of educational gap than assurance of national minimum, and more focus on educational input(condition) and process(opportunity) than output. Current educational welfare programs have significant limitations, such as shortage of human resources, contraction of essential education function, and rigidity of school organization for meeting variety of needs of disadvantaged students. Design of human-centered flexible system, application of local-based and bottom-up approach, and establishment of clear role and responsibility among governments, institutions, and experts are suggested for future institutionalization.

Research purpose was to investigate the influence of elementary school students' smartphone addiction on their academic grade and to examine the multiple mediating effects of their empathy impairment and school adjustment on the influence of smartphone addiction. Research data were gathered from 802 4-6th grade students of four elementary schools in Seoul and Incheon. Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) was employed to analyze the data. Particularly, bootstrapping analysis using phantom variables was implemented to examine the multiple mediating effects of empathy impairment. Results were as follows. First, smartphone addiction gave negative influences on school adjustment and academic grade, and also increased empathy impairment from elementary school students. Second, the smartphone addiction gave negative impacts on school adjustment directly as well as indirectly through empathy impairment. Third, smartphone addiction gave negative influences on academic grade indirectly through school adjustment and the path of empathy impairment and school adjustment. This study shows the process of how smartphone addiction can give negative impacts on academic grade directly or indirectly through empathy impairment and school adjustment, and provides basic data to develope educational and counseling programs for reducing the side effects of elementary school students' smartphone addiction.

This study is to suggest the direction of future facade design in kindergarten from the view point of evaluators for urban scenery, focusing on facade design in kindergarten among the typical buildings built considering the visual preference of user group. From the literature review, component elements of facade design in kindergarten were classified into mass, opening, material, color, pattern, graphic. In sequence, typical 18 samples were extracted of which design elements decide the image of facade for each component elements of design, and then the visual preference was inquired for architecture majors, general publics and kindergarten students. The preference of kindergarten students was concentrated on the samples of which color and graphic were exaggerated. On the other hand, for the facade design in kindergarten which architecture majors and the general publics prefer, the design principles which dominate entire facade design such as mass form, materials' texture or pattern were acting as upper evaluation standards.

This study examined the longitudinal effects of bully/victimization on the change of social- emotional development during adolescence, using 3-years longitudinal data from Korea Youth Panel Study. Latent Growth modeling(LGM) was used to evaluate potential current and lagged effects of bully/victimization on the adolescents` social-emotional development. The results of analyses present: (a) current effect of bully on change of body symptom is evident at the second grade of middle school, (b) current effects of victimization on change of depression, social withdrawal and body symptom are evident at the second grade and the third grade of middle school, (c) lagged effects of victimization on change of depression is evident during the period from the second year to the third year in middle school, and (d) lagged effects of victimization on body symptom and social withdrawal are evident during the period from the second year in middle school to the frist year in high school.

The purpose of this study was to identify effects of high school students' fear of negative evaluation and self-soothing ability on suicidal ideation and to examine whether effect of fear of negative evaluation on suicidal ideation was moderated by self-soothing ability. For this purpose, data were collected from 941 high school students; and, the results were as follows. First, high school students' fear of negative evaluation and suicidal ideation showed positive correlation whereas self-soothing ability presented negative correlation with fear of negative evaluation and suicidal ideation. Second, both fear of negative evaluation and self-soothing ability predicted suicidal ideation. Third, effect of high school students' fear of negative evaluation on suicidal ideation was moderated by self-soothing ability. These findings are applicable in developing suicide prevention programs as the basis, offering implications for adolescent counseling.

Until now the urban railway stations as the most representative mass-transit system covering various users with different social classes, ages, circumstances have achieved to get an attention from the society, and the improvement of its facilities' environment by establishing construction standard for the handicapped, elderly, and pregnant. But it still lacks design consideration for various users and their behavior characteristics those are derives from various situations. Especially it lacks design considerations for adolescents' use. In case of adolescent population, their physical, behavioral, and psychological characteristics are expressed in quite different way than that of other user groups, therefore adolescents' behavior characteristics and pattern of facility use shall be considered with significant importance. This study has researched movement facility in 8 urban railway stations in Seoul particularly where adolescents population heavily use these facilities near their schools with the mind of user behavior point of view and universal design principle. This study also has analysed and evaluated properness of related laws & regulations, and accordingly proposed construction standard for movement facility in urban railway stations.

The purpose of this study is to examine influencing factors on the outcomes of field work practicum for college students major in social work. The followings are results. Influencing factors on the aspects about knowledge and skills are the satisfaction of field work practicum and the degree of participation themselves in field work practicum. And influencing factors on the aspects about considering and thinking of social work identity and social worker are the roles of school, the satisfaction of field work practicum, the satisfaction of faculty and the experiences of volunteer works before the practicum. The common influencing factors between university students and college students is satisfaction of field work practicum. The different influencing factor on the outcomes of field work practicum between them is supervisor factor. College students are influenced by more the school and the faculty than supervisor. Through the results, the strategies are suggested to improve the outcomes of the field work practicum in college students major in youth work as well as major in social work who are in the former period of post-adolescence.



한국 청소년의 공동체 의식과 다문화 수용성 간 상호 인과관계

This study examined the interactional relationship between possessing a sense of community and multicultural acceptance among Korean youth by utilizing data from a Korea Child and Youth Panel Survey using autoregressive and cross-lagged modeling. The cohort from 2011 to 2013 used in this study consisted of 2,280 middle school students. The results of the study are as follows: The autoregressive effects of having a sense of community and multicultural acceptance appeared stable. However, the cross-lagged effects between having a sense of community and multicultural acceptance were different. Only the cross-lagged causal effect of multicultural acceptance on sense of community was significant. It shows that multicultural acceptance had a significant influence on developing a sense of community among Korean youth. Consequently, multicultural acceptance is shown to be an influential factor in evolving a sense of community. Based on such findings, schools should play a key role of developing multicultural acceptance among students since Korean youth spend most of their time in school. Suggestions for future studies are also discussed.



다문화청소년의 ‘진로발달 경험’에 대한 현상학적 연구

The purpose of this study is to provide expanded perspective and opportunity of self-reflection about multicultural adolescents’ lives through career development experience and meaning. Question of this study is 'how are multicultural adolescents’ career development experience?'. A total of 14 multicultural adolescents living in Seoul, Gyeonggido, Chungchungdo were selected for the in-depth interview. Data were collected from June to August, 2014. This research utilized Colaizzi's phenomenological method. Data analysis was based on the 7 steps presented by Colaizzi. The participants provided 18 themes on the essential structure of experience, 7 theme clusters and 4 categories. The final 18 themes that were are as the following: guiding lectures and practices help to career deciding, spending career camp, vague yearning, parents’ affect, right aptitude, protecting self, knowing my merit and demerit, I’m Korean, undifferentiated I, benefit of dual culture, acquisition of bilinguistic, unhelpful dual culture to career, my powerful source of family, advisors of out of family, altruism attitude, material abundance, surfing the dream, rushing the dream. And the final 7 theme clusters that were are as the following: previewing career, opening the eyes of career, my powerful supporters, meaning of career, peculiar me, dual culture’s brightness and darkness, suitable clothes to me. The 4 categories were looking the career, finding own color of career, hardening career and approaching career. Based on this result, It is suggested to acknowledge importance of positive motive pursuit for career, future career with choice and dispair, various support giving power, positive attitude of career, understanding of self, road to go for career development.



레지오 에밀리아 교육이론을 적용한 유아교육시설 공간 구성에 관한 연구

Childrearing is has become a social problem in general. Yet, infant caring facilities are far from enough, and need to be increased not only quantitatively but also qualitatively. As the society is regarding infants as the ones with rights, 'Reggio Emilia educational theory' is also gaining interest with its philosophy and methods of open education. Malaguzzi stated that this theory had been influenced by the exchange of opinions with progressive educational figures in many cities, study and experiments by Piaget school, and researches by many scholars, such as Dewey, Vygotsky and Bruner. The ideal directions for the space organization of early childhood education facilities can be categorized into those about educational methods and those about educational environment. The space for documentation and the mirror space, the atelier and the mini atelier are about educational methods, and the piazza and the indoor garden, the horizontality and mutuality of space, and the classroom with tables for small group activities and various materials are about educational surroundings. Reggio Emilia educational theory began in 1950, but it changes depending on the passage of time and the changes in a local community by principle. Therefore, it must continue to be examined with the educational concepts fit for Korean situation for more open education, and space in children education insitute also requires continuous study.

대학 교양수업 평가도구 타당화

The main purpose of the present study was to validated tests of Liberal arts education for University students. It consists of six sub-factors, depending on the level of general art education, personal and social level. Based on previous studies, 50 items includes Thinking & problem solving(10), Self-regulation(7), Citizenship(10), Leadership(10), Community spirit(5), Multi-cultural comprehension(8). The test developed and tested with 1892 university students from S university in Seoul. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, Pearson correlations and structural equation modeling analysis by using SPSS 20.0. The major results of this study were as follows; tests of General arts education for University students were validated and it is a very useful tool for measure the effectiveness of the university of Liberal arts education classes.



시설보호청소년이 지각하는 사회적 지지가 학교 적응유연성에 미치는 영향 - 자아존중감의 매개효과를 중심으로 -

The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of perceived social supports of youths in residential care on school resilience focusing on the mediator effect of self-esteem. Data were collected from 226 nationwide child welfare institutions by mailing questionnaire surveys. Ten thousand four hundred seventy two adolescents were responded. Correlation analysis, stepwised multiple regression analysis, Baron & Kenny(1986)' mediating analysis, and Sobel test were used in the data analysis. The major findings were as follows: First, perceived social supports of youths in residential care had positive effects on self-esteem. Second, their perceived social supports also had positive effects on school resilience. Finally, self- esteem proved to have a partial mediating effect between the effects of perceived social supports and school resilience. Based on these results, implications for social work practice and policy were suggested.



초등학생용 공감교육프로그램 구성을 위한 델파이 연구

The purpose of this study is to identify the components of empathy education program for elementary school students through Delphi Survey. The first phase of this Delphi was to set the panel including 22 experts who have the specialties of empathy education, empathy training, youth counseling, ect, for elementary school students. The second phase was to make survey form with the items which are from literatures. The third phase was to conduct the survey at three times by the experts panel. The results of Delphi method showed the total of 78 necessary contents in 4 categories. and each category presents average pants and marks of importance. In results, 78 components were identified in 4 categories: (1) basic direction of empathy education program, (2) components of empathy, (3) phased teaching methods of empathy education program, (4) training technique of empathy education program. Based on each finding, considerations and implications for the future studies were proposed.

In this paper we examine the spatial property of common space that plays a vital role in educational facilities based on departmental system. As departmental system has been introduced, a great part of school has been changed in order to suffice the requirements. Especially, classrooms have been reorganised in terms of classification and categorisation, and as a result they are no longer used for student. In order to solve this problem, common space is added in between subjects, and now serve as homebase for student. Despite this space having been intensively studied, it has been lack of scrutinising it in terms of architectural intention and social relation between teacher (or inhabitant) and student (or visitor). Throughout in-depth understanding of designer’s intentions and spatial properties using visibility graph analysis model which is one of analytical tools in space syntax theory, it is found out that common space supports spatially a wide range of activities such as interacting, studying and resting, and also works as a transitional space among subjects. In addition, there is a quite distinct organisational culture between teacher and student, that is classrooms are deeper from homebase than teacher’s office.

This paper examines the ways of how spatial configuration and object arrangement of the Science Museum in London have been transformed in accordance with changing Museum Narrative and applying new exhibition techniques over the time, and then addresses what role these changes play in terms of learning science. Throughout in-depth reviewing literature and comparing initial spatial layout with present one using space syntax tools, it is discovered that constructing ‘idealised microcosm’ as an initial narrative has been replaced with ‘knowing, making, using’ principle and dialectic perspective which deals with both the ‘voice of the past’ and the ‘need of the present and future’. Based on the current narrative, objects are no longer classified or categorised into one of subjects, but rather they have a potential to be interpreted as diverse cultural meanings. As a consequence, the primary concern of object layout is with delivering distinctive contents, different thematic frames or topological perspectives, and also with improving educational efficiency throughout fragmented axiality, shortened isovists and strong walking sequence. These findings suggest that the Science Museum in London plays an educational role very well, and this tendency is highly likely longstanding.



어머니의 경험을 통해 본 청소년의 지역사회 사회자본에 대한 질적연구

The purpose of this study was to obtain specific understanding about the community as a community social capital for the youth. With this purpose, main research question was raised as follows : "As a social capital of youth, how does the community work?" Eleven women who had joined in the various community agencies participated in this research. The researcher operated in-depth interviews with them and used a qualitative research method based on content analysis. The results of data analysis are as follows. There are 5 categories : "Looking for help with an urgent need", "The children growing after long wait", "The parents changing with deep breath", "The healthy community living together", "the hopeful community". In conclusion, clear messages emerged from this research are that women's participation in community agency and active relationships would be helpful for social capital of youth. This study also suggests the strategy focusing on small groups in the community, the integrative social services to youth and their family, the out-reach services to youth families, the improvement of environment of community for the social capital of youth.



아동청소년 정신건강서비스 공급체계에 관한 연구

The purpose of this study was to provide information for developing supply system of mental health service in Korea through analyzing mental health services of Asia region(Japan, Singapore) and the present state of Korea. This study was comprehensive literature review concerning about mental health service. Field research was carried out for supply system of mental health service and officials interview. Results of the study were as follows: Compared with other countries, difficult of cooperation that each business according to the ministry. Also not achieved the service is that based on school. Japan is the core institutions to integrate each departmental business is well established. Singapore is service that is based on the school are well established. And mental health services are integrated to provide a core facility. Korea is needed to participate in cooperation across communities for the adolescent mental health service system and mental health facility infrastructure. Future a more detailed study is necessary to include the relevant standards and regulations.



청소년 체험활동의 참여시간과 참여만족도가 삶의 만족도와 공동체의식에 미치는 영향 - 학교생활적응의 매개효과를 중심으로 -

In this work, we study how the participation duration and satisfaction of youth's experiential activities affect their life satisfaction and sense of community in order to examine the effects and reveal the causal relationship between the observed effects. We use a structural equation model to analyze the data of 2,108 adolescents who had participated in experiential activities in the fourth annual Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey of middle school (first grade in high school). The main findings are summarized as following: first, both the participation duration and satisfaction show positive influence on youth's’ life satisfaction. Second, while the participation duration has little impact on sense of community, the satisfaction has influence on it. Third, the participation duration shows negative effect on the school adaptation, and the participation satisfaction also has influence on the school adaptation. Fourth, the school adaptation has a partial mediating effect on the relations between adolescents’ experience activities (participation duration and satisfaction), life satisfaction, and sense of community. Based on these observations, we suggest new measures to perform more effective experiential activities for adolescents.
