As an abundant body of studies and evidence base reveals the significant impacts of the indoor environment on occupant health and productivity, the health and well-being in the built environment has emerged as an important concern for those who spend most of their time indoors. School buildings are where school-age children and adolescents spend most of their time, and the physical, psychological and physiological conditions unique to this age group make them more vulnerable to negative environmental factors. In this context, this study aims to develop architectural design strategies for healthy school spaces, focusing on spatial interventions to the physical environment and the lifestyle changes that can be achieved through them. Comprehensive review of the relevant literature was conducted to identify seven health themes focusing on the recurring and converging topics in the discussion of healthy schools, and where spatial interventions can be applied as a valid tool. Using this as a conceptual framework, a spatial methodology of design elements that translated to at least one of the seven health themes was established and presented as a set of architectural design strategies for healthy school spaces.

Local child care centers are the most prominent facilities for child welfare in South Korea, both in terms of the number of centers and the number of children utilizing them. These centers play a crucial role as accessible community-based facilities that can respond to the diverse and evolving demands for child care. However, unlike other elementary child care facilities, local child care centers, which were originally privately operated study rooms, face ongoing spatial instability due to the lack of legal protection under the Lease Protection Act. As a result, many centers experience frequent changes in their premises, often relying on monthly rentals, which poses challenges in providing consistent and stable child care programs. According to a report released by the Ministry of Health and Welfare, the government subsidy (basic operating expenses) support for local child care centers in the Daegu region is among the lowest in the country. This highlights the need for facility improvement and proposals to align with the ongoing efforts of Daegu City to create a child-friendly city. In light of these circumstances, this study aims to analyze the current status and realities of local child care centers to provide foundational data for revitalizing them as essential child care hubs within the community.

This study was conducted to explore the resilience change of upper grade elementary school students who participated in the thanks journal writing activities in the beginning of school year. Resilience was known as the very important psychological factor to overcome environmental threats and stress and difficulties accompanied in the developmental process. This study selected two 5th grade classes in the S city, composed of 47 students dividing one class as an experimental group(23 students) and the other as a control group(24 students) and assigned a control group to write thanks journal on a daily basis for 4 weeks. For the thanks journal writing, three free topics could be selected without any limits and students were also asked to write personal reflections on their thanks journal writing activity. In order to analyze the effects of thanks journal writing, resilience measurement test was assigned to both groups before and after the activity and mean score changes of resilience were compared between two groups with independent sample t-tests. In addition to comparison of resilience mean score changes of both groups, this study conducted content analysis of students’ thanks journals and personal reflections in order to find out the changes of students’ attitude and thoughts. Major results were as follows. First, the experimental group showed significant increases in resilience scores overall and its sub factors including self regulation, positivity, and interpersonal competence as well. Second, content analysis of thanks journal showed that students wrote the thanks contents composed of school and out-of school life. In terms of school life, study, daily life and relationships were revealed and in terms of out-of school life, survival, daily life and relations were included. Third, the analysis of the students’ reflections revealed self-reflection on their own emotions, efforts for self changes, transition to positive perspective, getting awareness on importance of everyday life and building better relationships. Based on such findings, this study suggested that thanks journal writing activity contribute to improving resilience and helping students’ school adjustment in the new school period, and further could be applied to more school settings.

In order to establish a future youth space, it is necessary to establish not only the national goal to foster youth who are responsible for the future of the country in accordance with the changes in the social environment of the 4th industrial revolution and the post-COVID-19 era, but also to establish the role of public facilities in the community. A comprehensive approach to comprehensive construction guidelines, such as size and detailed functions, is needed. Therefore, in this paper, as a basic study for broad access to youth facility space, the standards of future-oriented youth facilities were reviewed. To this end, in this study, detailed guidelines for the planning and design of facilities necessary for the construction of similar public facilities such as schools, museums, and libraries are drawn to identify problems with the existing youth facility standards that have been maintained continuously for the past 30 years and to seek new directions for youth spaces. wanted to analyze. Through this process, the composition system of each field of facilities and design considerations of major spaces will be reviewed, and based on this, the direction of future youth space establishment will be suggested.

This study aims to verify the simple mediating effects and sequential dual mediating effects of the self-esteem and peer attachment in the relationship between parental pressure of academic achievement and career maturity. The participants were 1,359 6th graders from the Panel Study on Korean Children. This study analyzed the 13th wave Panel data(2020) by using SPSS and PROCESS macro model 6. The current study employed descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and mediating effect analysis. Results are as follows: Self-esteem and peer attachment showed a indirect effect in the relationship between parental pressure of academic achievement and 6th graders’ career maturity. Also, in the relationship between parental pressure of academic achievement and 6th graders’ career maturity, self-esteem and peer attachment showed sequential mediating effects. These findings suggest that interventions to enhance 6th graders’ career maturity need to focus on improving pressure on academic achievement of parents, students’ self-esteem and peer attachment.
