The study sought to identify Korean identity among Naturalized youth with Migrant Background. By doing so, it also attempts to make policy suggestions for better embracing these youths to Korean society. Study subjects are young men and women aged between 19 and 24 who have naturalized during their school attending age or currently are preparing to do so. Subjects were selected through snowball sampling. For the naturalized youths to minimize friction in becoming full-fledged Koreans, mainstream Koreans must change their idea of being Korean. To this end, the government needs to offer training and public campaigns to reduce discrimination and encourage cultural understanding. For the youths to establish their identity without being confused, local community leaders must be able to offer them training programs so that they can become strong members of Korean society while retaining their naturalization, multicultural, and bilingual experiences. Finally, the initial acclimatization programs offered by the government must consider psychological, emotional aspects as well as language training.

Nowadays, the number of students in Korea is low due to the low birthrate, while the number of unused classrooms is increasing, and the layout of school spaces is changing to respond quickly to the curriculum to nurture future talent. Therefore, this study explored the new direction of the space that supports creative convergence education by examining theoretical research on creative convergence education and physical environment. Based on the four spatial characteristics of future school space innovation announced by the Ministry of Education, 5 domestic schools and 5 foreign schools were analyzed at the same time, the analyzed results have drawn three characteristics of the physical environment that support the creative convergence education. First, the 'Multiple learning space' must be fluidly changed according to various curriculums and user purposes, and according to individual learning styles, social learning space and independent learning space must exist simultaneously. Second, the 'Convergence knowledge sharing space' is a place where knowledge exchange between various interdisciplinaries occurs, and system furniture for information sharing must be constructed. Third, the 'Community-connected spaces' should be organized as learning spaces for the region by opening certain parts of the school for sustainable learning.

Climate change and environmental pollution are important issues in the modern world. Since the recognition of energy problems, interest in eco-friendliness has increased, and efforts to reduce energy consumption from public facilities have continued. However, regardless of higher attention oriented toward eco-friendly architecture, the act of construction and environmental deterioration cannot be separated. In order for the future society to be sustainable, it is important to practice a nature-friendly life, and it is necessary to increase interest and understanding of nature through educational experiences. In the future, schools should provide high-level spatial experiences to learners and provide practical environmental education for nature-friendly living. This study presents a nature-friendly prototype of a domestic school that needs a new learning space for the 2015 revised curriculum. Through active application and exposure of passive design techniques, students can naturally recognize energy problems, develop self nature-friendly lifestyles, and establish values for environmental protection.

This research was to verify if academic self-efficacy plays a mediating role between the relation of parental career-related behaviors perceived by elementary school students and career-aspiration. The result of the research can be summarized as follows. First, in the correlations among parental career-related behaviors perceived by elementary school students(support for career, career intrusiveness, lack of parental interest in career), academic self-efficacy and career-aspiration, career support shows a positive correlation with academic self-efficacy and career support. Career intrusiveness shows a positive correlation with career aspiration while academic self-efficacy shows no meaningful effect with academic self-efficacy. Also, lack of parental interest in career shows a negative correlation with career aspiration and academic self-efficacy. Second, the search studied if academic self-efficacy has mediating effects in the relation between parental career-related behaviors (support for career, career intrusiveness, lack of parental interest in career) and career aspiration. The research proved that academic self-efficacy partially mediated in the relation between career support and aspiration. Based on such result, the search discussed implications and Imitations, and future direction of the study.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of friendship on ego-identity in adolescence using a potential growth model. For this purpose, data from the Korea Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) conducted by the Korea Youth Policy Institute (NYPI) in 2010 were used. The data were analyzed using the latent growth model of 2351 people using the data of the third year (second grade in middle school), the fifth year (second grade in high school), and the sixth year (third grade in high school). The results of this study are as follows: First, the level of friendship and ego-identity all increased over time. Second, the early friendship had a significant positive effect on the early stage of ego-identity, and the early stage of friendship did not have a significant effect on the change of ego-identity. Third, the increase in friendship in the longitudinal relationship had a significant positive effect on the increase in ego-identity, and it was suggested that the maintenance of friendship is necessary according to the tendency of the continuous increase in ego-identity. Finally, based on the results of this study, implications and suggestions were presented.

The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of social withdrawal on the relationship between perceived neighborhood characteristics and depression in multicultural adolescents. The participants were 1,308 adolescents of the multicultural family, with data taken from the 6th year(2016) Multicultural Adolescents Panel Study(MAPS). A structural equation model was conducted to examine hypotheses and bootstrapping was used to examine the mediating effect. The results showed that perceived neighborhood characteristics and social withdrawal were found to have a direct impact on depression. Further, social withdrawal had a partial mediating effect on the relationship between perceived neighborhood characteristics and depression. Based on the results, suggestions and implications were provided to heighten the level of perceived neighborhood characteristics and to lower the level of social withdrawal and depression.

Currently, the school-age population is rapidly decreasing due to the shrinking population and aging population, one of the nation's most serious problems. The consolidation and closure of small schools are increasing due to the decrease in the number of school-age population, and "integrated schools" are drawing attention as an alternative to this. About 100 integrated operating schools have been operated so far, and related research and guidance development are actively underway. However, domestic integrated schools are found to have problems such as inconvenience in using shared spaces, lack of mutual exchanges and formal integration. Therefore, this study aims to summarize the problems of the integrated operation school and suggest implications for efficient facility sharing and separation through case analysis abroad. First of all, the problems of integrated schools in Korea will be settled through prior research. Next, the case analysis was conducted based on the characteristics of deployment, functional characteristics, space elements for joint use, and the joint use of student community spaces.

This study aims to verify the mediating effects of self-direction in learning in the impacts of parental neglect and abuse on adolescent self-esteem. This study conducted an analysis using the 5th wave data on the panel of 1st graders of elementary school for Korean Children and Youth Panel Survey (KCYPS) with the structural equation model to answer the research questions. The subjects of the study are 2,110 adolescents in the fifth grade in elementary school. The main results drawn in the study are summarized as follows: First, both parental neglect and abuse had negative (-) impacts on adolescent self-esteem. Second, both parental neglect and abuse also had negative (-) impacts on adolescent self-direction in learning. Third, the more the self-direction in learning, the more positive (+) the adolescent self-esteem became. Fourth, according to the result of effect decomposition, both the total effect and the indirect effect of self-direction in learning in the impacts of parental neglect and abuse on adolescent self-esteem were statistically significant. These results show that parental neglect and abuse have direct impacts on adolescent self-esteem, while they also have indirect impacts on it through the mediator variable, self-direction in learning. Especially, this study found that the indirect effect of self-direction in learning was greater in the relationship between parental neglect and adolescent self-esteem than in that between parental abuse and adolescent self-esteem. Lastly, based on these research results, the present study made policy and practical suggestions.
