Maple을 이용한 삼각함수의 이해

Since the computer is becoming more and more indispensible tool in every fields of the modern society, it is needed and desirable to utilize the computer as a basic tool from the very early stage of the education process. Recently Maple is gaining its popularity as a comprehensive mathematical software with its power of symbolic calculations and graphics as well as its great numerical computational ability. We demonstrate the suitability of this software as a tool for the mathematical education and presents several examples of the applications of Maple. For the middle and the high school mathematics courses, we give the application examples for the quadratic functions and their graphs, statistics, the three dimensional shapes, algebraic problems. Through the examples, we confirm that mathematical education can be much more effective and simple by using Maple. If we establish computer-assisted mathematical classes, we can draw more attention and excitement from the attendants than traditional classes and eventually improve more rapidly their problem-solving ability On the other hand, the excess of the computer-aided education give to obstacle of psychological, not to be passing over the fact.

The paper describes some principles how we design the mathematics curriculum through mathematical Modelling. since the motivation for modelling is that it give us a cheap and rapid method of answering illposed problem concerning the real world situations. The experiment was focussed on the possibility that they can involved in modelling problem sets and carry modelling process. The main principles could be described as follows. principle 1. we as a teacher should introduce the modelling problems which have many constraints at the begining situation, but later eliminate those constraints possibly. principle 2. we should avoid the modelling real situations which contain the huge data collection in the classroom, but those could be involved in the mathematics club and job oriented problem solving. principle 3. Analysis of modelling situations should be much emphasized in those process of mathematics curriculum principle 4. As a matter of decision, the teachers should have their own activities that do mathematics curriculum free. principle 5. New strategies appropriate in solving modelling problem could be developed, so that these could contain those of polya's heusistics

웹 기반의 중학교 확률과 통계를 중심으로 한 WBI 프로그램 개발 및 적용에 관한 연구

This paper is dedicated to the enhancement of the second-grade students of middle school students' understanding of the basic principles and concepts of probability with the help of Web-browser-used WBI programs relating to probability and statistics in teaching them the unit of probability. I have come up with the following research problems with a view to applying and analyzing the findings. (1) A web sites in relation to the learning of probability and statistics is to be developed with the second graders of middle school in mind. (2) Is there any difference between the experiment group exposed to web-sites-aided classes and the control group going through the conventional ways of math classes when the sites is made trial use of \ulcorner (3) What response do the learners show in regard to classes which makes use of the web sites when the sites is applied\ulcorner After making an experiment with the aid of the web sites and teaching plans, I made a measurement and an analysis of the academic achievement of the subjects, their understanding of classes based on the web sites, the concentration of the learners, and their responses relating to the contents of web sites concentrating on probability and statistics. I have come to the following conclusions based on the findings. First there was a significant difference between the classes of honor students and the classes of backward pupils when T-Test was made with regard to the achievement of the subjects who divided into the experiment group and the control group. The former made use of the web sites whereas the latter stuck to the conventional way of teaching math. The former scored higher than the latter. Second, the research based on questionnaire findings shows that the web-site-aided experiment classes proved to be more effective than the traditional control classes. All in all, I think that web-aided classes will have a more positive influence on the students' interest in math and on the scholastic achievement of math than conventional classes.

The purposes of this study are to develop the mathematical performance assessment tasks and to apply them to the middle school students. And I also intend to know the students' inclination and learning attitude to mathematics. In order to satisfy this study, I developed the performance assessment tasks and the standard program of marking about the mathematical function and statistics for the first grade students at middle school. After examining the students' basic investigation, their inclination and learning attitude to mathematics, I applied these developed tasks to them After that I put both classes and performance assessment into operation in all 15 periods. I set up two classes of the first grade students (49 students) at J middle school in Kongju, Chungcheongnam-do as a model group. The results of this study are as follows: First, owing to the developed performance assessment tasks of function and statistics, the teachers can operate the assessment system as a process of teaching and learning. Second, because of the application of mathematical performance assessment tasks, we can change the students' inclination and learning attitude to mathematics affirmatively. And by using these tasks, we can help the students to think mathematically. In this way, the students will be able to realize the real value of mathematics and have a growing interest in mathematics through all these meaningful processes. Judging from this study, we can elevate the students' abilities of problem solving and reasoning and improve teaching-learning method by applying the performance assessment tasks to them. Thanks to these tasks, the students will be changed affirmatively in their inclination and learning attitude to mathematics. I think that these tasks are very good assessment method which can call forth curiosity and interest. Besides, they can also help the students realize the real value of mathematics.

The purpose of this research is to promote the academic achievement motivation and improve problem solving ability in Mathematics. In addition I hope to explore a new teaching method and facilitate students interest in mathmatics. If the teachers utilize an Internet Web Page and exchang information, the interaction activities will allow them to collect and analyse a variety of data. As this teaching method assists students motivation to get the effects of self-regulated learning strategies of students using the internet and their academic achievements and learning attitudes can be explored. The information will be gathered after the students participate in classes which were taught through the Edunet Homepage and the Department of Mathematics Homepage of KongJu National University. The Internet pages focused on the "Function" chapter of the first grade text for students attending middle school. The students were divided into two groups, experimental and comparative. Each group is composed of three levels, high, middle, and low. In the post experimental phase, two tests were administered which measured achievement ability and the learning attitude of the students. The results of the tests were then compared and analyzed. The results were as follows: First, the study demonstrated that self-regulated Learning Starategies towards Academic Achievements and Learning Attitudes were more effective than traditional teaching methods. These methods were significantly effective in the middle level and low level groups. The study demonstrated little to no improvement in the high level groups

All men′s achievement and behavior is always based on motivation. It has been reported that learning motivation plays an important role to get the achievement of study to approximately 16 ~ 38%. Therefore, a lot of researchers agree that learning motivation must be required for learning achievement. This study focuses on "How behavior induces learning motivation from learners\ulcorner" I adapted "the Attention, Relevance, Confidence, Satisfaction" which is supported by John. M. Keller in the model of ARCS to the course of teaching-learning in order to improve them systematically. The effectiveness and results of adaptation must be considered to solve the math problems.

The teaching-learning method utilizing Web makes it possible for the students take the initiative in any field and offers the teaching strategy, methodology and teaching-learning materials suitable for students' ability and standard. The purpose of this study is to investigate the characteristics of WBI in mathematics class for the effective teaching and learning focusing on the unit 'Function' in the 1st grade of middle school and verify its effectiveness by developing the WBI programs which can progress learning achievement and applying them to math class. Two hypotheses were established for this study. Hypothesis 1 : There will be meaningful difference between the group that studies under WBI and the one that doesn't, Hypothesis 2 : There will be meaningful difference in the attitude and interest toward learning between the group that studies under WBI and the one that doesn't. In order to find out the result, I have made a comparative analysis through t-verification on the object of two classes of the 1st grade in P middle school that I have been working for. The result shows that the class utilizing WBI is more effective than the traditional lecture-oriented class since there is a meaningful difference between the control group and experimental one and also that the class based on WEB has a great influence on students' interest and positive attitude toward math class.

In its seventh revision to start in 2001, mathematics will have a new emphasis in the middle school curriculum. Mathematics subject is now composed of practical things in the use of mathematics. Also, the future of new generation, which has been known as the information age, places much focus on problem-solving in order to collect, analyze, synthesize, and judge various kinds informations. This demand of problem-solving ability is not only related with mathematical education but, along the entire educational process, its related to actual life. With this change of social structure, the importance of school education is increasing rapidly. Therefore, in order to grow abilities and create new knowledge, adapted this new method of self-oriented learning in groups to middle school 2nd graders for one year, the results were as follows : 1. Students developed their ability of the use of mathematical terms and signs correctly. 2. Students' mathematical knowledge and problem-solving ability improved as they had increased interest in mathematics. 3. Students' peership was enhanced through their communication and cooperative activities in groups during the class. 4. Students themselves were more willing to volunteer and participate during the class.

It is necessary that at any rate we try to decrease underachievers by learning deficiency in mathematics to extreme limits under circumstances that mathematics becomes more requisite daily in the 21st century's informative society. However, the traditional teaching method causes a lot of problems in elevating the needed ability for the newly changing society. Accordingly, for the purpose of letting underachievers by learning deficiency have much interest in mathematics, seek the qualitative elevation, have the feelings of self-confidence and accomplishments, escape from desperation, and also teachers choose the activities of small groups, design teaching plans, apply those to teaching-learning activities and finally verify the effect, this researcher sets up a hypothesis as follows: 1. The teaching method through small groups will be effective for the accomplishments of underachievers in mathematics. 2. Its method will bring out the meaningful change in the emotional areas of mathematics. Therefore, so as to prove the above hypothesis, the results through the theoretical approach and practicing teaming by small groups have turned out to be positive.

협력 학습을 통한 문제 해결에서 해결 전략의 사용형태에 관한 대화 분석

The selected questions for this study was their conversation in problem solving way of working together. To achieve its purpose researcher I chose more detail questions for this study as follows. What is the difference of strategy according to its level \ulcorner What is the mathematical ability difference in problem solving process concerning its level \ulcorner This is the result of the study Difference in the strategy of each class of students. High class-high class students found rules with trial and error strategy, simplified them and restated them in uncertain framed problems, and write a formula with recalling their theorem and definition and solved them. High class-middle class students' knowledge and understanding of the problem, yet middle class students tended to rely on high class students' problem solving ability, using trial and error strategy. However, middle class-middle class students had difficulties in finding rules to solve the problem and relied upon guessing the answers through illogical way instead of using the strategy of writing a formula. Mathematical ability difference in problem solving process of each class. There was not much difference between high class-high class and high class-middle class, but with middle class-middle class was very distinctive. High class-high class students were quick in understanding and they chose the right strategy to solve the problem High class-middle class students tried to solve the problem based upon the high class students' ideas and were better than middle class-middle class students in calculating ability to solve the problem. High class-high class students took the process of resection to make the answer, but high class-middle class students relied on high class students' guessing to reconsider other ways of problem-solving. Middle class-middle class students made variables, without knowing how to use them, and solved the problem illogically. Also the accuracy was relatively low and they had difficulties in understanding the definition.

This paper was developmented for teaching of claculus in college with multimedia contents. We focused the point of lecture materials with internet network in mathematics class. We used the 3-D graphics and Java applet with HTML for making contents. We hope this contents is used in calculus class at university.
