This paper examines the environmental impact of pandemic-induced telework in California by analyzing the change in carbon dioxide emissions from the transportation sector between 2019 and 2020. Utilizing sectoral data, atmospheric measurements, and radiocarbon indicators, we identify a 16.5 percent decrease in transportation-related CO₂emissions, correlating with a substantial reduction in commuter traffic during the state's Stay at Home order. Supporting evidence from field observations and annual greenhouse gas inventories confirms that this reduction was the most prominent in freeway enhancements and urban fossil fuel contributions. The findings demonstrate the measurable climate benefits of structural telework adoption and suggest that maintaining or institutionalizing telework could serve as a viable long-term mitigation strategy. Policy recommendations include formalizing hybrid telework practices, expanding carbon tracking infrastructure, and integrating telework into California’s sustainability mandates. The results provide actionable insight into how behavioral shifts in work culture can serve as effective tools for emissions reduction.

This study introduces an innovative, integrated safety monitoring and rescue management system designed specifically for high-risk confined spaces in industrial environments. The system utilizes wearable health sensors, environmental detection modules, AI-driven predictive analytics, and multilingual alert mechanisms to deliver real-time hazard detection and automatic emergency responses. With a strong focus on inclusivity, it provides communication in native languages, greatly aiding foreign workers who may encounter language barriers during emergencies. Its core features include automatic ventilation management, toxic gas suppression, and mechanical extraction of workers, ensuring quick action in critical situations. The ergonomic design combined with AI-based logic allows for early risk detection before issues escalate. Additionally, the system produces comprehensive incident reports for analysis and safety audits. Based on occupational safety research and aligned with international safety standards, it aims to overcome existing limitations in industrial emergency protocols and foster a more inclusive, proactive safety culture in diverse workplaces.

This meta-analysis explores the primary reasons why construction workers are aware of and use personal protective equipment (PPE). It identifies common themes and dimensions in the literature by applying factor analysis and synthesizing evidence. Key underlying factors were found: management and supervision, employee attitudes and beliefs, and training and awareness. These factors explain much of the variation in PPE usage and behavior. The findings highlight that safety compliance in construction is complex and influenced by organizational enforcement, individual perceptions, and education. This study enhances understanding of occupational safety management and offers a theoretical foundation for creating more effective safety programs. Results also stress the importance of leadership commitment in promoting a positive safety climate and encouraging consistent PPE use. Additionally, the synthesis indicates that incorporating cultural and behavioral aspects into training can greatly improve compliance and the long-term adoption of safety practices.

This study aimed to examine the relationship between career identity, major satisfaction, growth mindset, and career adaptability, and determine whether a growth mindset can mediate the respective relationships between career identity and career adaptability, and between major satisfaction and career adaptability among nursing students. This is a descriptive cross-sectional design, and participants were 192 nursing students. Data were collected from January 10 to 24, 2022, using an online self-administered survey. Our results showed significant positive correlations among career identity, major satisfaction, growth mindset, and career adaptability. Furthermore, growth mindset had significant mediating effects on the respective relationships of career identity and major satisfaction with career adaptability (β=0.54, p<.001; β=0.56, p<.001). Programs designed to cultivate a growth mindset can improve nursing students’ career adaptability by amplifying the effects of career identity and major satisfaction.

As the world faces growing challenges from globalization, migration, and ongoing crises, education systems are under pressure to prepare students who are culturally aware and responsible, ethical, and ready to engage with global issues. This theoretical study explores how Global Citizenship Education (GCED) can be combined with the idea of crisisonomy, a field that looks at how societies respond to major problems like climate change, cultural conflict, and political instability. By reviewing and analyzing existing research, this study presents four key ideas: (1) how GCED and crisisonomy work well together as educational approaches, (2) how GCED provides strong ethical values in times of crisis, (3) how GCED helps students build a sense of identity and belonging, and (4) how it can reshape education to promote global civic engagement. This study argues that GCED strengthens crisisonomy by promoting global justice, cooperation, and sustainability. It ends with suggestions for teachers, schools, and policymakers, and encourages future research to apply this model in real education settings.

This study examines unification related content in Ethics and Social Studies textbooks across elementary, middle, and high school levels. The findings reveal that while both subjects share considerable thematic overlap, their pedagogical orientations differ. Ethics curricula frame unification primarily in terms of values and attitudes, emphasizing the meaning and significance of unification, the dispositions students should cultivate toward it, and the experiences and fair treatment of North Korean defectors. In contrast, Social Studies curricula present unification as an institutional and structural issue, addressing the historical causes of division on the Korean Peninsula, systemic differences between South and North Korea, the tangible benefits of unification, and instances of inter Korean policy level exchange and cooperation. Although recurring themes such as the necessity, importance, and envisioned future of unification appear consistently in both subjects across all grade levels, the complexity and depth of the content increase progressively with higher grades.

Purpose: This study aimed to examine the effects of nursing students’ perceptions of a good death and hospice care on their preferences for end-of-life treatment. Methods: A total of 167 second-, third-, and fourth-year nursing students from universities located in cities U and B participated in the study. Data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 28.0. Results: Among the subdomains of end-of-life treatment preferences, being under 30 years of age significantly influenced preferences for autonomous decision-making (β = 0.21, p = .008) and decision-making by healthcare professionals (β = 0.21, p = .007). Perceptions of hospice care significantly influenced preferences for decision-making by healthcare professionals (β = 0.21, p = .017), spirituality (β = 0.28, p = .001), pain management (β = 0.23, p = .021), and family involvement (β = 0.33, p < .001). Conclusion: Perceptions of hospice care were identified as the most influential factor across multiple domains of end-of-life treatment preferences. These findings highlight the need to develop and promote educational programs that enhance nursing students’ understanding and perceptions of hospice care.
