Body The purpose of this study is to examine the direction of disaster management by administration change in Korea and identify factors that could accommodate the public's demand for an effective disaster management system. Keyword network analysis is conducted for the 3rd and 4th National Emergency Management Plan to explore the changes in the direction of disaster management policies. Through the analysis, topic words, their frequency, and matrixes for co-occurrence between keywords are extracted. Based on the extracted matrix, the degree centrality (connectivity of keywords) is identified and cluster analysis has been conducted afterward. The findings show that education training, on-site disaster response, improvement of legal system, professional training, and cooperation among related agencies are detected as key topic words. The direction of the plan is also changing to cope with the unexpected disaster situation due to the climate change.

This study aimed to elicit and understand the experience of direct care workers involved with dementia patients. Conventional content analysis was used in this study. Fifteen direct care workers, associated with either nursing homes or elderly daycare centers in Korea, were recruited. Semi-structured, in-depth interviews were conducted to collect data. All interviews were recorded using digital devices, transcribed, and qualitatively analyzed. Four key areas were identified: (1) confusion due to ignorance and inexperience; (2) difficulties due to personal, familial, and environmental obstacles; (3) accustomed care skills learned from one's own experience; and (4) unintentional discrimination. The results suggest that even though direct care workers are educated on dementia, their knowledge and caring skills are not adequate to manage diverse dementia symptoms. Therefore, it is necessary and important to develop scientific and systematic dementia education programs and care skills to improve the quality of care.

This study was to review non-pharmacologic intervention programs designed to ameliorate symptoms in community-dwilling Korean older adults with sleep disturbance. Methods: A systematic search was performed Korean and English keywords in nine electronic databases. Four studies were included in the sample for the systematic review. Results: Quasi-experimental designs were used in two studies and randomized controlled trials (RCTs) were used in two studies. Non-pharmacological interventions included exercise, acupressure, aroma therapy and laughter therapy. It was shown that acupressure, aroma therapy and laughter therapy were effective in alleviating sleep disturbance, but exercise’s efficacy depended on the intensity and frequency of the intervention. Conclusion: The results provide a basis for the development of interventions to improve the sleep disturbance. The results of the interventions should be generalized by confirming the effectiveness and consistency of the interventions, taking into account its intensity and frequency.

As people's life expectancies increase as a result of advancements in science, technology, and medical technology, humanity has entered a never-before-seen post-aged society. These social changes have resulted in a variety of social problems, including a decline in the labor force, an increase in medical costs for the elderly, an increase in elderly poverty, and an increase in criminal offenses among the elderly. Thus, in order to prevent and respond to the growing number of criminal offenses committed by the elderly, we propose the creation of jobs for the elderly to aid in their social integration. Second, a it is necessary to prepare spaces in order to preserve and strengthen social bonds among the elderly, as well as to establish a network based on the local community. Finally, an education program will need to be developed to teach the elderly how to control and suppress their emotions and anger on their own.
