Business Intelligence (BI) system is a strategic tool that presents an analytical perspective about business and external environments. Even though its strategic value was well known, users often avoid using it or adopt it ceremonially. In fact, over 50 per cent of BI projects worldwide are reported to end in failure. Such an unexpectedly lower success rate has been a key issue in BI studies. In order to enhance a proper use of information systems, MIS field provided a number of theoretical constructs. One example is Goodhue & Thompson’s Task-Technology Fit (TTF). In addition, internalization, the degree to which people make their own effort to modify behavior, was recently suggested as another important determinant of use. Though in MIS community both TTF and internalization proved to be a key determinant of system use, there has been not much study aiming to discover antecedents influencing these constructs. In this study we assert that user participation should be highlighted in BI projects. Especially, we emphasize user participation at the phase of feasibility study that is mainly conducted to determine whether a BI system is essentially necessary and practicable. Our research model employs participative feasibility study as a major antecedent for TTF and internalization that consequently will lead to user satisfaction and actual use. This model was empirically tested on 121 BI system users. The result shows that user participation in feasibility study is positively associated with TTF and internalization, each being related to user satisfaction and system use. It implies that, if an organization has BI users get involved in strategic feasibility study phase, the BI system would turn out to fit users’ tasks and, furthermore, users would put more efforts spontaneously in order to use it properly.

This paper is part of the dissertation for an MSc in Project Management and Innovation of Strathclyde Business School The research aims at understanding how IT-SMEs (Small and Medium-sized Enterprises in Information Technology Business) implement and use Flexible Work Arrangements and Flexible Working Hours (FWH/FWA) in their organisations. In-depth interview data was collected from managers and business owners of 31 companies whose needs for Work-Life Balance varied. Results show that many factors positively influence IT-SMEs to use FWH/FWA. For example, customers and partners working at different work-hours, traffic congestions between home and office, and the general stereotype of IT personnel. However, the results also found several concerning factors that may hamper the success of FWH/FWA implementation. They include the inadequacy of management skills in tracking, monitoring, and assessing employee’s real performance, contextual factors for Thai IT-SMEs, i.e. conflict resolution culture, IT people’s protocol of communication exchanges, and shortcoming of technology infrastructure. The findings also show that many companies that had used FWA eventually stopped. Thus, a four-phase cyclical framework called PLIC (Purpose-Limitation-Implementation- Consequence) has been developed as an approach to FWH/FWA implementation.

The objective of the study is to examine the acceptance and usability of Augmented Reality (AR) visuals developed for industry analysis of Thai Banks and whether these visuals can outperform the table of numbers in representing financial accounting data. Convenient samples were used and the data were collected with self-assessed questionnaires from 109 users with minimum prior experiences with financial analyses. The results from descriptive statistics indicates that despite having over 80% of respondents with little prior experience in analyzing financial performance of banking industry, the majority of them were able to correctly make prediction (96.4%), identify trend (82.6%) and compare banks’ performance (70.6%). Their attitudes and perception towards Bank-AR visuals were above average. Although the overall usability score is average (53%), the respondents rated the Bank-AR visuals to be highly useful and had high intention to use them in the future.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationship between application attractiveness and loyalty to mobile music applications. The application attractiveness is operationalized into four dimensions: richness of music contents, music app design quality, music app functionality, and promotion. The hypotheses are postulated and tested using a sample of 370 student respondents from Henan Polytechnic University and Henan Institute of Technology, China. The result shows that there is a positive correlation between loyalty and three application attractiveness aspects: richness of music contents, music app design quality and music app functionality. Based on the results of this study, the research put forward constructive suggestions about improving mobile music application loyalty. Finally, several conclusions, managerial suggestions, limitations and future research are proposed.

Usability is one of the most important concepts regarding software quality. It can be interpreted as the goodness associated with using the software product. This paper distinguishes the goodness of an individual using experience and the goodness of a product for using. This paper proposes a software quality view model which classifies software quality views into two broad categories of end view and means view. End view includes long-term view and short-term view which is classified further into performer’s view on software activity and third party’s view on software activity. Means view includes intrinsic view and contingency view. The analysis of ISO 25000 Series SQuaRE demonstrates the necessity to decompose product quality model and quality in use model into five models corresponding to the software quality views respectively. The analysis on playability shows that the universal definition of usability may be an illusion. The results provide the theoretical basis to build a comprehensive and consistent body of knowledge regarding software quality, which is consisted with the set of quality models and the theories explaining the relationships among the elements of the models.

Demands of cosmetics are affected not only by the well-known elements such as brand, price, and customer's consumption capacity, but also by some latent factors, for example, weather and air environment. Due to complexity and dynamic changes of the above factors, their influences can hardly be estimated in an accurate way by the traditional approaches such as survey and questionnaires. Through modeling and statistical analysis of big data, this article studied the impacts of weather condition and air quality on customer flow and sales of the cosmetics distributors in China, and found several hidden influencing factors. It provided a big-data based method for the analysis of unconventional factors on cosmetics marketing in the changing weather condition and air environment.

This study uses the concept of dominant design to identify the determinants for the emergence of a next-generation dominant electronic display. It employs multiple research methods with the participation of display experts, which combine case studies, an unstructured interview, and the Delphi method. The results show that based on technological innovation and market dominance, a next-generation dominant display is more likely to emerge as a result of technological competition between liquid crystal displays (LCDs) and organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs). The findings emphasize that the importance of rapid technological innovation, including component and process innovations, and a competitive edge in manufacturing costs are important. The study sheds light on our understanding of dominance in an industry and market, and also provides strategic guidance for practitioners to establish a competitive strategy.
