Analysis of Factors that Affect Successor Satisfaction in Family Firms

This study is to find effects between the level of preparation of factors and the satisfaction of successors. Independent variables are the level of preparations of successors and divided by three detailed type, the level of preparation of management ability, the level preparation of positive succession attitude and the level of preparation of ownership succession. A dependent variable is the satisfaction of successors and a moderating variable is the level of communication between successees and successors. This study was undertaken in South Korea among 59 successors in 59 family firms. A total of 53 samples were available to use for the research. The empirical results indicate that the level of preparation of successors, management ability, positive succession attitude and ownership succession, is associated to the satisfactions of successors. Additionally, the moderating variable has not the relationship to the dependent variable as a moderating variable, but the result showed a strong relationship between the level of communication and the satisfaction of successors.
The Activity-Oriented Usability Model of Software

In this paper, an activity-oriented usability model is proposed. The usability model contains two types of characteristics: special-type characteristics of usability and sub-characteristics of usability. Workability, study-ability, and playability are, but do not exhaust, examples of special-type characteristic of usability. They correspond to working, studying, and playing using the software product, respectively. They represent the goal of using and can overlap each other. They are usability too by themselves. Navigate-ability, data-prepare-ability, data-input-ability, response-wait-ability, output-examine-ability, and output-utilize-ability are typical examples of sub-characteristics of usability. They correspond to navigating, preparing data, inputting data, waiting response, examining output, and utilizing the output data, respectively. They are not usability by themselves. They constitute usability together as a group. Assessing is the fundamental and indispensable aspect of quality. Without assessing, the concept of quality has little practical value. Satisfaction, effectiveness, and efficiency are the most typical subcharacteristics of usability in existing quality models, which correspond to the evaluation criteria of usability. In the activity-oriented usability model, however, only the user’s satisfaction is included: Satisfaction is regarded as the operational definition of usability in the user’s view. As the result, usability can be interpreted as the ‘goodness for using, which is evaluated by the user.’ Three fundamental principles regarding software quality models are proposed too in this paper: Principles of Parsimony, Cohesiveness, and Inheritance. Discussions illustrate well that typical existing usability models violate these basic principles. Many authors have tried to define general usability models which can be applied to most kinds of software. The dream of the general and universal usability model, however, may be an illusion. The activity-oriented usability model is expected to serve as a prototype from which specialized usability models can be derived.
A Design of University Information System Operation Audit Model based on ITIL V3

The purpose of constructing university information system is for improvement in diversification and throughput of information, streamlines business processes, rapid exchange of information, sharing of information, decision-making information, and securing educational facilities. Similar to business information technology system, university information system does not have a review system for sharing and overlapping investment of information. Due to the lack of project management for outsourcing and vulnerability of system suitability, system audit is absolutely needed for the university information system. This paper especially focuses on an operational phase in the audit of university information system. Additionally, we proposed operating model and checklists of the university information system based on Management Guidelines of ITIL V3 Operational and Information System. We derived the checklists of operation audit by each domain of service strategy, service design, service transition, service operation, and continual service improvement. As the result, this study appear to have more than average satisfaction the suitability results were.

In recent years, international cooperation has become important not only at the humanitarian level but also at the socio-economic level. As a result, major foreign countries are increasing capital-intensive international cooperation. In this environment, Korea needs to look for differentiated international cooperation plans centered on sustainable talent cultivation and move away from capital-based international cooperation. In this study, we analyzed the case of HRD (Human Resource Development) center in Cambodia as an international cooperation model between industry-academia-college for training software (SW) workforce. The HRD Center in Cambodia is an educational institution that fosters SW talent and can be viewed as an international cooperation model that can influence the ICT industry in Cambodia as an educational platform. In fact, 190 people who have been hired so far have entered various fields. 97% of graduates have been satisfied with HRD center and 90% of them are willing to recommend the center. In particular, as highlighted in the case study, the HRD Center has had a positive effect on not only cultivating self-initiated learning-based SW talent, but also formulating positive image of Korea and Korean companies thereby facilitating entry into the global market. The HRD Center in Cambodia has developed a virtuous cycle of fostering human resources, providing education, advancing industry and building a cooperative network. Korea has transformed into a platform for international cooperation and human resource development and education by providing active support and aid. This case study will be utilized as a new model of international cooperation with SW expert training platform for Korea.
A Case Study on Strategic Shift from Smart-Work to Work-Smart of Company K

Early smart-work of company K was a technology-led way of applying ICT such as smart phones and mobile devices to business. After company K perceived the limitations of ICT-driven smart work, it propelled the work-smart, doing a work smart toward the way that human beings become central and a creative organizational culture is engendered. Company K propelled work-smart strategy in eight categories: simplification of data requirements, establishment efficient meeting culture, streamlining reporting and approval process, simplified document creation, overtime decrease, spreading flexible work system, settlement of healing leave, creating work-smart place. Company K set up an organizational culture secretariat dedicated to work-smart promotion and selected task priorities in consideration of urgency and effectiveness. Owing to such efforts, the company K's work-smart index rose sharply to 72 points this year from 56 points in the previous year. At the organizational culture survey, employees responded that organizational culture improved in all area. For a better future, company K analyzed its work-smart outcomes and planned progressively to improve its work-smart efforts based on employees opinions. This case study will serve as a guideline, for companies to make efforts to going forward to today work-smart beyond yesterday smart-work.
