In general, other conventional researches propose the fuzzy Petri net-based fuzzy reasoning algorithms based on the exhaustive search algorithms. If it can allow the certainty factors representing in the fuzzy production rules to use as the heuristic information, then it can allow the reasoning of rule-based systems to perform fuzzy reasoning in more effective manner. This paper presents a fuzzy Petri net(FPN) model to represent the fuzzy production rules of a rule-based system. Based on the fuzzy Petri net model, a weighted fuzzy reasoning algorithm is proposed to perform the fuzzy reasoning automatically. This algorithm is more effective and more intelligent reasoning than other reasoning methods because it can perform fuzzy reasoning using the certainty factors which are provided by domain experts as heuristic information.

The sensor network is a key component of the ubiquitous computing system which is expected to be widely utilized in logistics control, environment/disaster control, medical /health-care services, digital home and other applications. Nodes in the sensor network are small-sized and exposed to adverse environments. They are demanded to perform their missions with very limited power supply only. Also the sensor network is composed of much more nodes than the wireless ad hoc networks are. In case that some nodes consume up their power capacity, the network topology should change, and rerouting/ retransmission is necessitated. Communication protocols studied for conventional wireless networks or ad hoc networks are not suited for the sensor network resultantly. Schemes should be devised to control the efficient usage of node power in the sensor network. This paper proposes a medium access protocol to enhance the efficiency of energy consumption in the sensor network node. Its performance is analyzed by simulation.

We know that the Hurst Exponent (HE) is a real number in [0, 1] which denotes randomness of time series. In this research, we suggest non-linear analysis of human biological signals through HE. The feasibility of human biological signals using inductive incitement provides some diagnosis for active treatment. In our experiment, we measured the heartbeat through the MCG, 20 healthy and 34 abnormal subjects ostensibly. The raw data of acupuncture incitement are supported by opinions of gross examination and pathological diagnosis. The mean values of HE are 0.848, 0.755 and 0.805 for the periods of before, during and after acupuncture treatment, respectively in case of abnormal subjects. On the other hand, the mean values, 0.808, 0.797 and 0.785 are for normal cases, correspondingly. From this data, we show that HE is very significant in abnormal controls according to an acupuncture incitement, and the incitement effect is evidently extracted in abnormal subjects. But, in normal subjects, the incitement effect is meaningless.

Universal accessibility of web sites is critical in a highly interconnected world. The web site should be usable by anyone, regardless of individual capabilities and disabilities. But in reality, the users with disabilities are discriminated by inacccessible web sites. This research analyze the accessibility of major web sites of Korea based on World Wide Web Consortium's Web Content Accessibility Guideline 1.0. The result shows that the average number of accessibility errors per web site is 2.77 much higher than that of Unites States. Automated testing and manual testing of web accessibility provides complementary results.

In order to provide personalized knowledge recommendation services, most web portals for organizational knowledge management use category or keyword information that portal users explicitly express interests in. However, it is usually difficult to collect correct preference data for all users with this approach, and, moreover, users' preferences may easily change over time, which results in outdated user profiles and impaired recommendation quality. In order to address this problem, this paper suggests knowledge recommendation methods for portals using user profiles that are automatically constructed from users' activities such as posting or uploading of articles and documents. The result of our experiment shows that the proposed method can provide equivalent performance with the manual category or keyword selection method.

Flash memories are one of best media to support portable computer's storages in mobile computing environment. The features of non-volatility, low power consumption, and fast access time for read operations are sufficient grounds to support flash memory as major database storage components of portable computers. However, we need to improve traditional transaction management scheme due to the relatively slow characteristics of flash operation as compared to RAM memory. In order to achieve this goal, we devise a new scheme called Flash Two Phase Locking (F2PL) scheme for efficient transaction processing. F2PL improves transaction performance by allowing multi version reads and efficiently handling slow flash write/erase operation in lock management process. We also propose a simulation model to show the performance of F2PL. Based on the results of the performance evaluation, we conclude that F2PL scheme outperforms the traditional scheme.

As the Internet establishes and reinforces connections between people, virtual community is becoming one of considerable business model. We believe that benefits of the virtual community go to both customer and vendor organizing virtual community. Despite the explosive growth of virtual communities on the Internet, empirical research has been focused to study the issues related to characteristics of virtual community. The objective of this study is to enhance the understanding about virtual communities as an e-business model by Customer Relation Management and by empirically validating their effect on the performance of website. Through path analysis, we find support for relations behavior influence the online commitment. we also find that the online commitment enhance the organizational citizenship behavior. Finally, we discuss several theoretical and practical implications, and suggest limitations for research and future research issue.

Recently, RFID/USN is one of fundamental technologies in information and communications networks. Low-Rate WPAN, IEEE802.15.4 is a low-cost communication network that allows wireless connectivity in applications with limited power and relaxed throughput requirements. Its applications are building automation, personal healthcare, industrial control, consumer electronics, and so on. Some applications require location information. Of course location awareness is useful to improve usability of data. Low-Rate WPAN is regarded as a key specification of the sensor network with the characteristics of wireless communication, computing, energy scavenging, self-networking, and etc. Unfortunately ZigBee alliance propose a lot of applications based on location aware technologies, but the specification and low-rate WPAN devices don’t support anything about location-based services. RSSI (Received Signal Strength Indication) is for energy detection to associate, channel selection, and etc. RSSI is used to find the location of a potable device in WLAN. In this paper we studied indoor location awareness using vector matching of RSSI in Low-Rate wireless PAN. We analyzed the characteristics of RSSI according to distance and experimented location awareness. We implemented sensor nodes with different shapes and configured the sensor network for the location awareness with 4 fixed nodes and a mobile node. We try to contribute developing location awareness method using RSSI in 3-dimension space.

Ubiquitous computing(UC) is an emerging paradigm. Its arrival as a mainstream is expected to trigger innovative UC-driven business models (UCBMs). Currently, there is no parsimonious methodology to analyze and provide diagnostics for UCBMs. With this research, we propose a analytical architecture that enables the assessment of an UCBM in its structural strengths and weaknesses. With value logic as the cornerstone, the architecture is composed of value actors, value assets, value context, business value propositions, customer value propositions, value creation logics, and value assumptions. Dimensional variables are initially identified based on the review of business model literature. Then, their significance is empirically examined through 14 UCBM scenarios, and variables that are expected to play an important role in the UCBM assessment are decided. Finally, by analyzing the scenarios in terms of the dimensional variables, we attempted to summarize general characteristics of emerging UCBMs.

Since most of the conventional web servers have been designed to provide the general purpose and user's convenience as the primary goal, there is an overhead to apply them to the embedded system for remote monitoring and controlling the operation status of the Internet appliance. To cope with this overhead, an embedded Linux web server is suggested in this paper. The basic concept is to provide miniaturization and extendability by simplifying the requirements of web server as the services to the requests of web document for the user's menu and the execution of CGI program for monitoring and controling the Internet appliance, and satisfying only the indispensable requirements of HTTP which are necessary for the interface with the conventional web browsers. For the evaluation of its feasibility, each module has been implemented on Linux environment, and tested with the MS Explorer 6.0.

This paper makes an attempt to suggest a process of automatically generating application software based on the Entity-Relationship model:1. The designer develops an E-R model of an real-world system. 2. The designer inputs the entity and relationship types, and attributes shown in the E-R model, and also the basic operations of the application system to the software generator. 3. The application generator produces database schema and link information between application programs, and then automatically generates a stereo-type application system. In order for the automated application generator to build the application system in a systematic way, four basic program generation rules have been suggested. A set of computer programs have been developed in order to show the applicability of the automated software generation process suggested in this paper. By following each rule with the generator, the designer can build an application in an efficient manner compared with traditional (manual programming) approaches. It has been demonstrated from the case study that the idea of applying an automated generator in systems development based upon the E-R model is feasible.

Recently companies are aggressively pushing ahead with integrating the systematical applications of internal and external information systems such as Data level, Application level, Process level in the company, Process level between companies. The EAI solution is generally considered as the necessary tool to integrate companies, but the appraisal standard for the EAI solution has not yet settled in Korea, so the companies have difficulty in deciding whether to adopt the EAI solution or not. Through this report, we first introduce the KRA Project as the best practice in making an application of the settled standard to evaluate and adopt the EAI solution, and then suggest that it can be adapted to companies considering applying to the EAI solution.

As the amount of informatization investment is rapidly increasing in many organizations, it becomes more inevitable to manage computing resources (information systems, computing facilities and manpower etc.) effectively. Specially, in public sector it is thought to be very important to achieve the economy of scale by integrating computing resources which are managed individually in many agencies. Also, our government have been recently making much efforts to raise the effectiveness of operating the information systems by promoting joint information use among many public agencies, enhancing the operating systems and the expertise of IS staff and applying the optimal information security systems. This study focuses on presenting the framework to effectively integrate computing resources and proposing the ways of constructing and operating the integrated computing environment for the institutions and the affiliated groups under the Ministry of Culture & Tourism which are in charge of implementing cultural informatization. The main implications of this study are 1) building the ideal model of the integrated computing environment architecture suitable to cultural informatization area, 2) showing the criteria of deciding whether the organizations use the integrated computing environment or not and how extensively they commit their computing resources to it, and 3) suggesting the ways of the phased integration and the change management to minimize confusion in the process of adopting the integrated computing environment and behavioral problems such as conflict and resistance of IS-related personnel influenced by implementing the integrated computing environment.
