For years, businesses have realized that story can persuade customers, familiarize people with the brand or the product, inspire team members and also mean big economic value. Storytelling, however, is regarded as such area depending only on the story director or writer’s creativity and thus minimum efforts have been given to information technology development for supporting business storytelling process. This study aims to review existing information technologies for both traditional and relatively new storytelling genres, and regards their implications when applied to business storytelling. As the result of the qualitative study, three kinds of business storytelling supporting system architectures-brainstorming, writing manin story, participatory storytelling-are suggested and discussions on further works are briefly mentioned.

This study analyzes the influence factors of IPTV users on the purchase of paid contents. This study carries out a web-log analysis of the actual users of the service provided by the domestic IPTV providers and classifies the influence factors on the purchase of paid contents largely into VOC, switching barriers, and content consumption pattern to conduct an empirical analysis. As analysis procedure, first, this study analyzes the preceding researches related to the core influence factors and content-purchasing patterns, and second, conducts a basic statistics analysis of the distribution of basic characteristics of the logs used, as presented in the above. Third, this study carries out a multiple regression analysis as an estimating equation of the number of purchasing the paid content depending on switching barriers of IPTV service, VOC, and content consumption pattern. As a statistical package, Stata version 11.2 was used. Through the empirical analysis, this study found that of the service use logs, VOC and content consumption pattern had a multi-dimensional impact on the purchase of premium contents. On the other hand, this study also found that the impact of switching barriers such as combination state with other products and current status of holding a point did not have a significant impact on the purchase of paid contents.

The concept of Health Related Quality of Life and its determinants have evolved since the 1980s. Although many researchers have published articles of technology usage in hospitals and the installation of technology based healthcare system, the research about applying the information technology to improve the patients’ perceived quality of healthcare services is still limited. In general, services are deeds, processes and performances that are essentially concerns of the consumer. The healthcare service quality depends on tangible factors, such as equipments, facilities, and the quality of hospital staff and also the intangible ones. The main purpose of this work is to establish new model and find out the contribution of information technology to enhance the patients’ perceived quality of healthcare service. We attempted to examine the main information technology related factors in 3 aspects, namely quality of information, the technology accessibility and the community that can improve patients’ perceived quality of healthcare services. Offline and online questionnaires were used to measure the patients’ perceived quality and were distributed to 384 people in 2 countries, Laos and South Korea. A principle component analysis and multiple regressions were used to verify our model. Results show that the use of information technology has partial positive effect on patient-physician interaction in both countries. However, patient knowledge and patient autonomy which are the 2 dimensions of patient-physician interaction has significant positive effect on patients’ perceived quality of healthcare service.

The adoption of technology has always been of interest to academicians and practitioners of the field of Management Information System. This is so because without proper and adequate adoption, technology-no matter how beneficial or advanced it may be-will be of little value to users. Numerous researches, such as the researches of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM) or the Unified Theory of Acceptance and Use of Technology (UTAUT), had been conducted to understand the human nature in association with the adoption or rejection of technologies that have bombarded the users. The coming of smart technologies (i.e., smart phones and devices), however, seems to have fundamentally changed the environment for adoption. The ubiquity combined with mobility of technology, especially when it comes to mobile apps, seem to make the old PC era of two-stage-pre and post-adoption models obsolete. A new model of adoption that identifies the determinants of technology acceptance and continuance is needed for the smart age. To this end, this paper undertakes an empirical study, by analyzing 229 users of Social Networking Service (SNS) mobile apps, to identify the role of user experience on the multi-stage adoption of technology, and provides results that User Experience (UX) plays the crucial role of bridging the separate stages of pre and post adoption of technologies. The paper concludes by providing practical implications of the new model as it relates to mobile apps and technologies, and recommendations for further studies to get a better understanding of technology adoption in the smart age.

Recently, due to external environment like the changes in health policy and various healthcare accreditations, along with hospital’s internal efforts to improve the quality of medical services, demands for the development of medical information systems are increasing. Some examples are clinical information like DUR (Drug Utilization Review), CVR (Critical Value Report), and automatic benefit processing by treatment purposes, or hospital DSS (Decision Support System) on overall medical practice. Such systems act as a guide in making clinic judgments during practice or in other medical practice, and their effects on the medical treatment improvements are being proven by previous studies. In the reality of increasing attention in the effects of medical treatment improvement, studies related to hospital DDS were mostly focused on clinical, technical, and engineering points of view, and studies focusing on the user viewpoint are very limited. In order to verify the effects of DSS on practice improvements and hospital’s management performance, this study used a research model constructed to verify how SERVQUAL of hospital DSS affects hospital management performance in BSC (Balanced Score Card) point of view. To empirically verify the research model, a questionnaire was conducted on the basis of “K-University Hospital’s DSS” on clinicians and hospital employees related to system development, and the relationships between the factors were analyzed through path analysis. As a result of path analysis, excluding reactivity, tangibility, confidence, reliability, empathy among service qualities, had partially significant effects on management performance factors (learning and growth, internal process, financial affairs). This study is to prepare the theoretical ground on the management performance analysis of hospital DSS, and suggest the service quality of the system that should be considered in the planning and development stages for improved system.

Tourism industry increasingly rely on information technology (IT) to improve the task performance. Many studies suggested that the evidence of IT showed not only task performance improvement but also organizational performance. Drawing from the resource-based view, technology and task fitness, and marketing orientation theories, this study proposes that IT use influences directly the task performance and proved the effectiveness of IT in the organizations of tourism industry. Further, the innovativeness, resources, and marketing orientation are identified as main determinants of IT use. The use of IT can serve as a catalyst in improving task performance for organizations in tourism industry. Based on data collected from surveying people who work in the tourism industry, the present study shed light on these issues. The findings provide a new perspective of IT effectiveness in the tourism industry. Then, we discussed the theoretical and practical implications.

A methodology is often used in solving complex problems. As a typical case of complex problem solving, development of information systems mostly requires a use of system development methodology. However, it is not always easy or smooth for organizations to adopt the methodology and to achieve a positive outcome from their application in real project situations. Although there are a few studies to find out success factors in the implementation of the methodology, they did not take into consideration essential characteristics of the methodology. This study aims to analyze the quality of the methodology as a key determinant to influence the performance of the methodology application.

This paper has studied whether cultural factors have an effect on privacy concern of Internet users in Korea and China. The result has shown that power distance, individualism, uncertainty avoidance, and long-term orientation are positively related to privacy concern, while masculinity is negatively related to privacy concern. This study has also found some similarities and differences between the two countries. First, privacy concern of Korean Internet users is significantly higher than that of Chinese users. Second, individualism and uncertainty avoidance significantly affect privacy concern in both Korea and China, although individualism in Korea has stronger effect than that in China. Third, long term orientation has a significant effect in only Korea while power distance is significant only in China. These results suggest that an online company doing businesses in multiple countries should have country-specific privacy policies to deal with the privacy concern of Internet users in different countries.
