In order to bolster the international competitiveness of the Korean textile industry, the global fiber market should closely be analyzed to find out what changes it has undergone, and then the kind of strategies that focus on the development of the especially competitive areas of the textile industry should be formulated. The purpose of this study was to examine the determinants of the competitive edge of the fiber industry and the influence of the determinants in our country. As a result of investigating the determinants of the competitive edge of the textile industry, foreign direct investment(FDI) by Korean, GDP, population size, inward foreign direct investment(IFDI) inflows and real effective exchange rate were identified as the determinants. It could be said that the determinants have a decisive impact on the exports of the Korean textile industry.

The object of this study explores the relationship of green supply chain initiatives, performance and firm's competitive advantage. To accomplish this object, we studied the literatures about green supply chain and trends of environmental management. Based on literature review, we suggested the research hypotheses that green supply chain initiatives(internal environmental management, green purchasing, collaboration of customer) is positively related in performance(environmental performance, economic performance) and the firm with higher performance is associated with higher competitive advantage. To analyse this hypotheses, the survey instrument was developed on the literature and experts opinion. We collected data from manufacturing firms are certificated ISO 14001 in Korea. The result is as follows; First, internal environmental management and collaboration of customer have positive effects on environmental and economic performance. Lastly, environmental performance positively affects firm's competitive advantage.

This study examines determinants of Korean firm's FDI location choice in 1995 and 2000 and 2005 focusing on the economic factors and institutional-cultural factors. To find out which factor is influence the Korean firm's location choice, this study use the multiple regression analysis. This study first ask whether there has been a change in Korean firm's FDI location choice during the period. Second, this study explore the underlying reason of location choice by focusing on country-level factors. This study's finding suggest, first, that the Korean firm's FDI location choice has changed during the last 10 years as world economic situation had changed. Second, determinants of location choice has changed as time changed. Third, this study found that the population factor is the most important factor when consider the location choice of Korean firm's FDI as assure the firm's growth and potential market demand. We conclude with a discussion of our findings, and provide suggestions for future research.
