日本語の条件表現「と」に関した議論は様々な観点から研究されてきた。仮定条件を表すことより事実的な条件を表すのが重点的な役割である益岡(1997)、事実的な用法の中でも個別的な事態を表しているという蓮沼(1993)、野田他(2002) など様々であるといえる。本稿では、こういう論議を元にして伝達機能と発話機能という観点から語用論的な分析が行われた。その結果、事実的な「と」は、前件の事態が成立した状況における、後件の事態の成立、あるいはそれに対する認識の成立を、話し手が外部から観察者の視点で語るような場合に使用される。なお、語用論的な立場からは「と」形式には「新しい事実について自己主張と信念によることを習慣的に即発させる」という意味である「主観的反応」という機能であることが分かった。また、「事態が起きている関係は偶然的であっても前件の行為現状が後件の帰結につながることができるという可能性を表す」という「可能性に対する予告」という意味で扱われている。

This paper compares translation-major graduates's translations with those of professional translators from the perspective of translationeses. First, this comparison reveals that both of the translators make the most translation errors in the lexical translations. It is indicated that translators tend to determine the meanings of words in the contexts only on the basis of lexicographic meanings in disregard of textual meaning and cultural background. Students need to be taught that not the lexicographic meanings but the context and the cultural differences determine the actual meanings of words. Second, student translators commit some translation errors in the tense- and sentence structure-related translations. These kinds of errors reflect that students are not aware of syntactic differences between English and Korean. They need to be educated that each of English and Korean has different linguistic characteristics in the expression of tense plural, and pronoun. Third, student translators tend to produce awkward Korean expressions in terms of the agreement of subject and predicate and redundancy. These kinds of errors signify that when trained, students should be educated about appropriate Korean expressions.

The ‘Likeness in Spirit(神似)’ theory of Fu Lei and the ‘State of Transmigration(化境)’ theory of Qian Zhong-Shu are considered as the most representative translation theory since Yan Fu in contemporary China. This paper reviewed these two theories and try to explain why these two theories attracted attention. It is mainly due to the academic atmosphere in 1980s that trying to redress left-leaning mistake after Cultural Revolution. and in the 1980s. This paper also pointed out that both of them stressed the importance of Classical Chinese(文言) in translation, which is a very special point of view when the Colloquial Chinese(白話) has been popularized already.

The present study explores the possibility of identifying research trends based on a keyword analysis of research paper abstracts. For this, a corpus was compiled, comprising all English abstracts from Korean Journal of Biology Education during a period from 2006 to 2015. From this corpus, keywords were extracted using AntConc, a corpus analysis software, to investigate if the keywords can reveal the research trends in biology eduction. The result of this analysis showed that some of the keywords are closely related to research topics which were mainly focused on in the period of 2006-2010, even though the other keywords seem less likely to reflect the research trends. In addition, this keyword analysis was found to be useful for detecting over-used words from the abstracts corpus, which might reflect research topics in the biology education field. Thus, this corpus-based keyword analysis of English abstracts might provide some guidelines for identifying topics frequently covered in research journals.

Translation may be described as kind of established special relationship between source text and target text. There may exist various factors deciding on which direction a good translation should go to and what elements should be included and excluded in a good translation. Among different factors to be considered, a concept of equivalence is still essential but controversial; in fact, this has endlessly been debated among translators and scholars. Register variables of Systemic Functional Linguistics like field, tenor, and mode are mostly concerned with context of situation and the idea of genre is realized in the context of culture. Thus, this paper will center on examining more or less different approach to texts, 'register analysis' of SFL, then discussing the resources a register tool may use for text analysis based on register theory of SFL. Hallidayan register model could also be a good way of handling the linguistic structure and meaning of a text in translation studies. In particular, register theory of SFL can be an effective approach to defining the concept of 'equivalence' especially in translation quality assessment. Applying a concept of bi-directionality of the register theory to text equivalence would be meaningful. The context of text is predictable enough thanks to such a bi-directionality between situation and meaning, meaning and selection of words and vice versa. Therefore, it is possible to say where the text goes through the contextual arrangement given and additionally considering the bi-directionality of the register theory can be a proper alternative to both text translation and translation quality assessment. We could expect a role as a keystone and a solution concerning a controversial issue around 'equivalence' as well.
영어쓰기 평가 방식의 차이가 학습자들의 영어쓰기 능력과 태도에 미치는 효과 연구

The purpose of this study is to examine the effects of differentiated evaluation method on students' English writing ability and attitude. 78 students were participated in this study, and they were divided into 3 groups. In control group, the instructor evaluated the writing samples of students, and in two experimental groups students rated other students' writing samples individually or cooperatively, respectively. The results show that the experiences of peer review on other students' writing samples had more positive effects on improving students' writing ability as well as on their attitude toward the process of English writing compared to the control group in which instructor evaluated students' writing samples. Especially, the experimental group(2) who conducted the peer review sessions cooperatively with their teammates had more positive effects on improving their writing ability and attitude toward English writing than the experimental group(1) who conducted the peer review sessions individually. The results of this study suggest the important pedagogical implication for those who are planning the instructional design of learner-centered English writing class.

This study is intended to explain the grammatical feature of the complex final ending '-kineun(yo)' and to reveal its meaning and function. For this purpose, the grammatical feature when '-kineun(yo)' was used as the final ending of the complex form was investigated and the meaning and function of '-kineun(yo)' dealt with as the grammatical item in the Korean textbook and dictionary were examined. In addition, the examples of '-kineun/-kin', '-kineunyo/-kinyo' appeared in the <21th century Sejong plan corpus> were analyzed by means of the corpus-based approach. Consequentially, first, the sentences grammatically containing '-kineun(yo)' could be seen in the category of fragmentary sentence, which derived from the interrogative sentences containing the irony. Secondly, the meaning of the '-kineun(yo)' was negative and it was used for denying and rebutting the other party's remarks, for protecting the face of speakers and listeners, and was used for representing the naturalness as a meaning of emphasis and for scolding/blaming/complaining. This study is significant in investigating various aspects of '-kineun(yo)' from the discourse dimension through the grammatical review of the complex final ending '-kineun(yo)' and the corpus data.
A Discourse Marker keymey in the Language of Jeju : Its pragmatically-controlled functions and use

Little research has been done on linguistic analysis on Jejueo in general and discourse approach to various Jejueo expressions in particular. This is because Jejueo has been treated, at best, as a dialect of Korean. However, it has been noticed that the language used in Jeju is “not mutually intelligible with Standard Korean”(Cho, et al 2001, Yang 2014 et al). As an independent language, Jejueo has its own linguistic features. With this in mind, the current study is to explore the pragmatic nature of keymey in Jejueo, the language of Jeju, from a discourse-functional point of view. As an interactional communicative tool, the discourse marker serves various discourse functions such as softener, agreement, attention-calling, etc. Furthermore, this study is to classify these functions into two properties: basic property and derived property. The former has something to do with ‘polite interaction’ and the latter includes various discourse functions. In this way, it is expected that the present study manages to provide, though descriptive, discourse-functional approaches to various oral features of Jejueo.

The research of communication strategies has been conducted over three decades. A considerable amount of studies have focused on the identification and classification of communication strategies. However, there has been relatively a small amount of research on the relationship of communication strategy use, types of task, and strategy instruction effect. This study examines how strategy-based instruction could affect Korean EFL college-level students' English speaking abilities and their strategy use in relation to two speaking task types. A total of 81 students participated in the research, and they were divided into the experimental group who received the strategy instruction and the control group who had no strategy instruction. The results showed that both control and experimental groups have significantly improved their speaking proficiency in terms of their overall speaking performance. However, when their speaking abilities were compared by subscales, such as accuracy, fluency and pronunciation, significant differences were found in the accuracy and fluency areas on the picture description. The findings also revealed that the strategy instruction positively influenced the students' use of the speaking strategies, and their strategy uses were somewhat different from the task type. Theoretical and pedagogical implications are discussed.

The adverb Qishi(其实) in modern chinese can be used to link two opposite concepts in meaning or in the content. The element after Qishi denies or corrects the semantic prediction given by the element in front of Qishi in a sentence or text. In other words, the semantic predictions given by the two elements are opposite, or the semantic prediction given by the element following Qishi does not correspond to that one given by the context. The function of adverb Sil-eun(실은)in modern korean is similar to Qishi, which can indicate the following semantic relationships between the elements in the context:adversative and additive. However, there is the difference between Sil-eun and Qishi, too. That means, according to Contrastive Analysis, that the learning difficult of Qishi for Korean students belongs to the level 0 Transfer.

This paper aims to investigate into various special characteristics of speech sounds of translated words of Korean that appears in the book ‘Chaoxian Guan Yi Yu’ during the end of Koryeo Dynasty to the early Joseon Dynasty period, also during the early Ming Dynasty. The investigation for the purpose of this paper, a few problems that appeared in the Chaoxian Guan Yi Yu were compared with the Chinese rhyme sounds and its dialect and the following special characteristics were identified. The sounds of the Chinese characters in the Chaoxian Guan Yi Yu for the most part reflects the sound scale of the Nanjing dialect system. Some vocabularies of the ancient Korean language that appeared in the Chaoxian Guan Yi Yu still exist in some regional dialects.
