Purpose: This study is investigate the role conflict, professional self-concept, and job satisfaction degree of the physician assistant nurses, and to grasp the factors affecting job satisfaction. Methods: Data were collected from September to October, 2018 and 156 physician assistant nurses working at one certified tertiary hospital, four general hospitals, using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The degree of job satisfaction of the subject was 2.76 out of 5. The influential factors in the job satisfaction of the subjects were professional self-concept (β=.51, p<.001), and role conflict (β=-.29, p<.001), affected job satisfaction by 53.5%. Conclusion: In order to improve the job satisfaction of physician assistant nurses, the role conflict should be solved and a plan to form a positive self-concept should be sought. Therefore, through the identification of the roles that are appropriate to the situation in Korea and the legal and institutional positioning, they will need to be recognized and developed.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effects of organizational culture, organizational silence, and organizational commitment on the intention of retention as perceived by nurses Methods: The research model was designed on the basis of the PROCESS Macro model 6 proposed by Hayes. The participants were 142 nurses from general hospitals. Measurements included the scales of organizational culture, organizational silence, organizational commitment, and intention of retentione. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, Pearson’s correlation coefficient analysis, and Hayes's PROCESS macro method for mediation. Results: Retention intention showed a significantly positive correlation with relationship-orientated culture (r=.32, p<.001), innovationorientated culture (r=.30, p<.001), and organizational commitment (r=.48, p<.001). However retention intention showed a significantly negative correlation with organizational silence (r=-.42, p<.001). Furthermore, organizational silence and commitment had a mediating effect on the relationship between organizational culture and intention of retention. Conclusion: The impact of organizational culture on intention of retention in general hospitals was mediated by organizational silence and organizational commitment. Considering the mediating effects of organizational silence and organizational commitment on the relationship between nursing organizational culture and retention intention, a strategy should be developed to enhance organizational commitment and weaken organizational silence by strengthening related and innovative nursing culture.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of nurse practice environment, coworker support, and work-life balance on job satisfaction for newly graduated nurses. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design, and the participants were 118 registered nurses who acquired license within the last 1 year and were working in hospitals. They completed questionnaires through online survey systems. Data were collected from June to July 2019 and were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, and multiple stepwise regression using IBM/SPSS 26.0 for Windows program. Results: The mean job satisfaction was 2.66±0.70 points on a 5-point scale. Multiple stepwise regression revealed that factors affecting job satisfaction of nurses included age (β=.18, p=.014), nurse practice environment (β=.28, p<.001), coworker support (β=.26, p=.002), and work-life balance (β=.29 p<.001), and these variables explained 39.1% of job satisfaction. Conclusion: These findings indicate that it is necessary to enhance nurse practice environment, coworker support, and work-life balance to improve job satisfaction among newly graduated nurses. These results can be used to help nurse managers develop related policies and retention programs for newly graduated nurses.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to identify the influence of emotional intelligence, job stress, and social support on resilience of hospital nurses. The study will provide the basic material necessary to improve nursing interventions for the development of nurses' resilience. Methods: The sample of this study comprised 193 nurses working at general hospitals in B City. Data were analyzed through the SPSS 25.0 program using ANOVA, t-test, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The factors with the greatest influence on the level of nurses' resilience were emotional intelligence (β=.54, p<.001), social support (β=.23, p<.001), and job stress (β=-.11, p=.39). These factors had an explanatory power of 46.7% for resilience. Conclusion: To improve nurses’ resilience, the application and development of intervention programs to increase their emotional intelligence is necessary. Moreover, organizational management and policy are needed to reduce nurses' job stress.

Purpose: This study was conducted to explore male nurses’ experiences of gender discrimination at the workplace using qualitative research methods. Methods: Participants responded to a survey using an online link, and were asked to describe their overall experiences by responding to the question “Please freely describe your experiences of workplace gender discrimination”. The qualitative data collected from 118 participants were analyzed using Krippendorff’s technique. Data collection was caried out from June 11, 2019, to August 3, 2020. Results: Eleven themes and 24 subthemes were extracted from a total of 277 meaningful statements. Male nurses’ experiences of workplace gender discrimination, reasons of gender discrimination, and improvement strategies were presented through the key themes. Conclusion: Male nurses experienced workplace gender discrimination from patients, colleagues, and institutions. Furthermore, strategies to improve gender stereotypes and to emphasize the strengths of male nurses are necessary in order to increase the number of male nurses in the female-dominant nursing field and to reduce job turnover. These strategies will help expand the social role of nurses as professionals and improve the work environment and benefits for all nurses.

Purpose: This study was conducted to investigate the mediating effects of mindfulness and growth mindset on the relationship between occupational stress and happiness among clinical nurses. Methods: The participants were 220 clinical nurses working in two hospitals in D city. Self-report questionnaires were used to collect the data, which were analyzed using t-test, one-way ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficients, hierarchical multiple regression, and Sobel test. Results: Occupational stress had significant negative correlations with happiness, mindfulness, and growth mindset. On the other hand, mindfulness and growth mindset had significant positive correlations with happiness. Meanwhile, partial mediating effects of mindfulness and growth mindset were found on the relationship between occupational stress and happiness. Conclusion: Mindfulness and growth mindset can play an important role in buffering the negative influence of occupational stress on the happiness of clinical nurses. Therefore, interventions that ease occupational stress and encourage mindfulness and growth mindset are recommended to increase happiness among clinical nurses.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of job stress, emotional labor, and positive psychological capital on the job satisfaction of physician assistants (PAs). Methods: The sample consisted of 166 PAs working in general hospitals in B city, Y city, and C city. Data were analyzed through the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program using t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: The factors of job stress (β=-.488, p<.001), positive psychological capital (β=.188, p=.004), and total clinical career (β=-.147, p=.014) had the greatest influence on the level of job satisfaction experienced by the PAs. The total explanatory power was 49.9%. Conclusion: It was found that job stress, positive psychological capital, and total clinical career were influencing factors in the job satisfaction of PAs. Therefore, to improve their job satisfaction, it is necessary to develop strategies to manage the job stress experienced by PAs, and to strengthen and develop positive psychological capital.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effects of emotional intelligence and self-leadership on job satisfaction among physician assistant nurses. Methods: The participants were 146 physician assistant nurses working at two university hospitals. Data were collected from August 1-September 31, 2020 and analyzed through t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation, and hierarchical regression analysis using SPSS/WIN version 26.0. Results: Factors affecting job satisfaction were self-leadership (β=.30, p=.003), “less than 1 year of experience as a physician assistant nurse” (β=.27, p=.025), and emotional intelligence (β=.25, p=.007), and the explanatory power was 34.4% (F=6.03, p<.001). Conclusion: Our study shows that self-leadership and emotional intelligence play a significant role in the job satisfaction of physician assistant nurses; thus, strengthening these two factors is crucial to improve the nurses’ job satisfaction. The results of this study may serve as basic data for the development of strategies to enhance job satisfaction among physician assistant nurses.

The purpose of this study was to identify health promoting behaviors(HPBs) and the related determinants affecting to women workers health based on the New Health Promotion Model by Pender(1996) Data were collected by self-reported questionnaires from 208 women workers at the 8 electronic manufacturing factories under the permission of data collection and cooperation with health managers in the factories during the period from September to October 1999. For data analysis. Descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation and Stepwise mutiple regression with SPSS/PC+7.5 version were used. The results were as follows 1. The average score for the HPBs, consisted of 6 subdimensions was 2.05. The highest mean score was 2.29 in Spiritual growth and the lowest one was 1.66 in Physical activity? 2. No significant difference between general charateristics and HPBs were found. 3. HPBs were positively related to Prior related behavior (r=0.369, p<0.1), self-efficacy (r 0.340. p( .01),social support (r=0.350, pK.Ol). Commitment to a plan action r0.374, p(.Ol). There was no significant correlation between perceived health status. perceived barriers to action and HPBs. 4. The most important variable in HPBs was commitment to a plan action? It. was explained 14.0% out of the total variance of lIPBs. commitment to a plan action? prior related behavior social support self efficacy and perceived barriers to action explained 23 0%. According to the results of this study, the suggestions were as follows 1. It is necessary to develop program for improving the physical activity and health responsibility of women workers at the manufacturing industry 2. To facilitate and maintain HPBs of women workers, nurses may enhance and plan mutually interactive active HPBs with women workers. 3. Social support at the level of individual workers, supervisors, and the organization is required in order to conduct health promotion program at the factories. 4. Significantly related variables to HIPBs should be identified the direct and indirect paths among them further more.

Purpose: This study aimed to explore professional autonomy, nursing work environment, and clinical decision making ability and to determine predictors of clinical decision making ability among clinical nurses. Methods: A cross-sectional design was used in this study and 263 clinical nurses were selected from advanced-level hospitals with over 500 beds located in D metropolitan city. Independent t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficients and hierarchical multiple regression analyses were done with the SPSS/WIN 20.0 program. Results: Clinical nurses reported moderate levels of professional autonomy, nursing work environment and clinical decision making ability. Marital status, professional autonomy and nursing work environment accounted for 25% of variance in clinical decision making ability required in various clinical settings. Importantly, being married, higher level of professional autonomy, and greater satisfaction with work environment were significantly associated with better decision making ability. Conclusion: Findings indicate that improving the quality of decision making in the healthcare settings requires awareness of the multiple effects of individual, occupational and environmental features. Nurses’ ability to make effective clinical decisions may rely on personal characteristics, the degree of autonomy in their job, and nurses’ satisfaction with their work environment.
