COVID-19 관련 업무 경험이 간호사의 직무 스트레스에 주는 영향

This study aimed to compare and analyze the job stress of nurses with and without in COVID-19-related work. Methods: A structured self-reported questionnaire survey was conducted to assess job stress. The extent of job stress was compared between nurses with COVID-19 (COVID-19 group) and those without such experience (non-COVID-19 group). Multiple regression analysis was performed to identify the factors influencing job stress. Results: Job stress was higher in the COVID-19 group compared to the non-COVID-19 group (t=2.54, p=.12). In sub-categorical comparison, stress driven by a taxing work environment, relationship conflict, and work schedule was higher in the COVID-19 group than the non-COVID-19 group. Multiple regression analysis revealed the job stress was higher among nurses with COVID-19-related work experience than that of non-experienced nurses. The factors affecting job stress of nurses with COVID-19-related work experience included emergency room work, providing nursing assistant for COVID-patients, and caring for these patients. Conclusion: Since COVID-19-related work experience is a major factor that affects nurses' job stress, it is imperative to provide various support measures for nursing assistants such as providing a break from working in an environment with high risk of infection, adjusting work schedules, resolving conflicts between personnel, and securing support.

요양병원 간호사의 낙상예방행위에 미치는 영향요인

The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing fall-prevention behaviors of nurses working in long-term care hospitals. Methods: Participants included 147 nurses working in 10 long-term care hospitals in B city. Data were collected from September 20-October 12, 2016. SPSS/WIN 21.0 was used for analysis with t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple regression. Results: It was found that attitude toward fall (r=.29, p<.001) and patient safety culture (r=.25, p=.002) had a significant positive correlation with fall-prevention behaviors of nurses working in long-term care hospitals. The factors influencing fall-prevention behaviors in participants were clinical career and patient safety culture (β=.21, p=.012), contributing to 19% of the total variance in fall- prevention behaviors. Conclusion: The findings showed that systematic delivery of differentiated fall prevention education is preferred to nurse's clinical career as a private factor to improve fall-prevention behaviors of nurses in long term care hospital. Particularly, it is imperative to conduct periodical and practical fall-prevention education for nurses to prevent career discontinuity. An independent report system and open communication system as well as a scheme that can disseminate patient safety culture in individual departments to implement patient direct nursing are required to encourage patient safety culture in organizations.

Purpose: This cross-sectional study aimed to evaluate the mediating and moderating effects of resilience in the relationship between experience of workplace bullying and its consequences among hospital nurses. Methods: The participants included 187 registered nurses working in general hospitals or a tertiary hospital in Busan and Gyeongnam Province, South Korea. Data were collected from October 25-November 30, 2019, using structured questionnaires. The moderating effects were examined using stepwise hierarchical multiple regression models. Data were analyzed using the SPSS/WIN 23.0 statistical program. Results: The results demonstrated that resilience had a moderating role in the relationship between experience of workplace bullying and its consequences in hospital nurses (β=.01, p=.024). However, resilience showed no mediating effect. Conclusion: To prevent and control workplace bullying, as well as to minimize its negative effects, it is necessary to develop a program that can enhance the resilience of hospital nurses.

요양병원 간호사의 전문직 자아개념과 직무만족

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between professional self-concept and job satisfaction of nurses working in long-term care hospitals and to consider strategies to improve these factors. Methods: Data were collected using structured questionnaires given to 135 nurses working at six long-term care hospitals in C City. The data were analyzed with SPSS 23.0 by descriptive statistics, Cronbach’s ⍺, t-test, one-way ANOVA, a Scheffé test, and with Pearson's correlation coefficient. Results: The average score for professional self-concept was 2.78 points (out of 4 points), and the average score for job satisfaction was 3.11 points (out of 5 points). Significant differences were found for professional self-concept according to age, marriage status, total work experience, number of patients per nurse, and position, while job satisfaction showed significant differences depending on age and the number of patients in the ward. Professional self-concept and job satisfaction showed a significant positive correlation (r=.46, p<.001). Conclusion: In long-term care hospitals, it is necessary to provide education programs about nursing practice, communication, and leadership to enhance the professional self-concept of nurses. With regard to job satisfaction for nurses, it is imperative to improve the work environment of long-term care hospitals.

The Pathways of Nurse Turnover in Long-term Care Hospitals

Background: This study explores the pathways of nurse turnover in long-term care hospitals (LTCHs) and its underlying conditions in Korea. Although the factors of staying or leaving of nurses in LTCHs have been reported, few studies have examined the trajectory and conditions of nurses staying in and leaving LTCHs. Methods: A qualitative study design with a grounded theory approach was conducted. Data were collected in one-to-one interviews. Purposive and theoretical sampling led to the inclusion of 20 registered nurses from 15 LTCHs in South Korea. Results: Seeking work-life balance was the core category of the nurses' turnover pathway. The consequences of the nurses' turnover pathway were categorized into three groups: thriving, surviving, and leaving. Thriving nurses found meaning in their work, fostered good relationships, and saw opportunities for growth. Surviving nurses were enduring their jobs in LTCHs, having a work-life balance, and supportive nursing leaders. Leaving group nurses wished to leave LTCHs due to a lack of professional growth, unappealing work, continued conflict, and social stigma. Conclusion: This study provided the trajectory and conditions for nurses to enter, stay, move, or leave. Understanding the pathways for staying or leaving can be used as a strategy for successful retention of registered nurses in LTCHs.

전담간호사의 역할갈등과 전문직 자아개념이 직무만족에 미치는 영향

Purpose: This study is investigate the role conflict, professional self-concept, and job satisfaction degree of the physician assistant nurses, and to grasp the factors affecting job satisfaction. Methods: Data were collected from September to October, 2018 and 156 physician assistant nurses working at one certified tertiary hospital, four general hospitals, using self-report questionnaires. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe's test, Pearson's correlation coefficient and stepwise multiple regression. Results: The degree of job satisfaction of the subject was 2.76 out of 5. The influential factors in the job satisfaction of the subjects were professional self-concept (β=.51, p<.001), and role conflict (β=-.29, p<.001), affected job satisfaction by 53.5%. Conclusion: In order to improve the job satisfaction of physician assistant nurses, the role conflict should be solved and a plan to form a positive self-concept should be sought. Therefore, through the identification of the roles that are appropriate to the situation in Korea and the legal and institutional positioning, they will need to be recognized and developed.
