The purposes of this study were to develop a job stress measurement tool and to identify the job stress according to the characteristics of worker and work condition at the small and medium-sized plants. Data were collected through face-to-face survey for April 뾏ay, 1997. Subjects were 180 workers at 36 small and medium-sized plants located near Scoul. l)ata were analyzed by item analysis, factor analy- sis, and ANOVA. The results were as follow: 1, Number of items of job stress measurement were 33 and Cronbach뭩 a was .9262 except 13 items with low values of Cronbach뭩 coefficient. Factor analy- sis was done in order for construct validity and 8 factors were extracted and cumulative percent of variance was 65,6%. 2. The job stress scores of male, the younger, 2-shift workers, and over-time workers were signifi cantly higher than those of female, the older, 1-shift workers, and 48 hour workers per week. 3. There were no significant difference between job stress scores and the groups by number of worker, and the types of manufacturing. The stress measurement tool is valid and very re- liable to measure worker뭩 stress. Furthermore, the job stress managent program for health promotion of the workers at the vulnerable work condition is needed more and more.

The purpose of this study was to identify the major factors affecting performance in health promoting behavior. The subjects for this study were 414 workers employed in one transportation manufacturing plant in Pusan and were obtained by a convenience sample. Data were collected from November 11th to December 2lth, 1996 by structured questionnaires. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS PC. The results of this study are as follows. 1. The average score of performance in the health promoting behavior was 2.42 the range of the score was from 1.44 to 3.71, The variable with the highest degree of performance was self actualizat ion. whereas the one with the lowest dc gree was exercise. tible~ and performance in the health ptunlotiug behavior, only the shift system showed statisti- cally significant differences in the total of health promoting behavior especially the group of no shift operation was higher in the performance of subscale such as exercise, nutrition, interpersonal support than that of the shift operation. Some demographic variables showed significant differences in the subscale of the health promot- ing behavior age, worker뭩 career and marital status. 3. Performance in the health promoting behavior was significantly correlated with perceived health status, health conception, self-efficacy, perceived benefits and perceived barriers, 4. The most important factor that affects perform- ance in the health promoting behavior was self-cf ficacv. The combination of self-efficacy, perceived bene fits, perceived health status, perceived barriers, shift system and department of work accounted for 31.05% of the variance in health promoting be- havior.

The aim of this study is to present the basic datum for the promotion of effectiveness and im- provement of nursery tasks, by grasping the situ~ ation of operating room nurses tasks and the degree of their fatigue. For these researches, 70 nurses out of the operating t-ooma of 3 univerihty-affiliated hospitals-two in Seoul and one in Pusan. were chosen at random by a non-probability sampling method, These researches were done from April 14 to April 26 in 1997 by questionairing method. The questionaire was composed of 30 items, which asks the examinees of their physical, mental, and neurosensory symptoms, with 10 items respectively. The reliability of the research instrument was turned out very high with Cronbach's a=.9376. The datum were electronically processed using Statistics Program for Social Sciences(SPSS). The analysis of datum in this study has a general character, in which the demosociological character and the special ex-officio character was calculated by frequency and percentage. The situation of tasks in operating rooms was calculated by frequency and percentage. The fatigue of operating room nurses was calculated by average and standard deviation. To compare the fatigue with regard to the character of operating room nurses tasks, t-test and F-test(ANOVA) were used after the character of variations, and the variations at the level of P< .05 which might have some meaning was verified after the fact with Duncan's Multiple Range(DMR). The results of this research are as follows : 1) The nurses working in operating rooms show their fatigue in three fields -in Group I physical symptoms 3.28, in Group III neurosensory symptoms 2.85, and in Group II mental symptoms 2.73, which shows I Dominant type (general type). 2) They complain, in Group I they are "feeling the heavy legs, 3.28 and in Group II they "occasionally forget soon what to do. 3.09. and in Group III, they "feel lumbago," 3.47, which is the highest rate of the three. The highest rate results from the character of their tasks, in which they have to move rapidly the heavy appliances and do their jobs standing many hours, especially wearing heavy radiation protector. 3) As to transportation, subway usiug group feel the greatest fatigue, 3.18(F=4.315, P=.008). 4) As to department, nurses in the orthopedic뭩 sur- gery part feel the greatest fatigue. 3.26(F= 2.040, P=,050). 5) As to the change of physical symptoms, the group answering that they found physical abnor- maiity after working in operating rooms show the greatest fatigue. 3.12(t=-3.13, P=.003). 6) At to the general .circumstances, the group answering that they receive insufficient con- sideration on their physical abnormality in their department, show the greatest fatigue, 3.l0(F= 3.200, P=0.47). 7) As to the relation with superior officers, the gioup answering that their superior officer has an impetuous temperament. show great fatigue.3.11(F=4.855, P=.011) 8) As to the time of feeling fatigue, the fatigue reaches the highest point 1~ 2 hours after operations. &04(F=2.703, P= .046). 9) When they feel fatigue after scrub nurse duties, they feel the greatest fatigue 2 hours after the duties, 3.09( F=2.841, P=.038). 10) As to the operation instruments, when they use complcx instruments borrowing from the outside in addition to the basic instruments, their fatigue becomes the greatest, 3.09(F=7.831, P=.000). 11) As to the kind of operation, when they participate in orthopedic뭩 surgery operations, they feel the greatest fatigue, 3.18(F=4.362, P=.000) With the above results, it is proved that the de gree of operating room nurses fatigue is considerably high. So it may be concluded that the measure for lessening the fatigue should be find immediately, not on the level of personal matters but on the level of hospital nursing administration.

This study was carried out to describe the relationship between food habit and gastric symptom. Five hundreds ten women working more than 6 months were chosen for samples among the residents in Seoul and Kyungki provinces. This survey was done by questionnaire from the 5th September to the 5th October 1996. The results was followed : 1. The average score of the food habit in the career women was 9.6 among the total score 20 2. The food habit of the career women appeared worse to whom were younger, single, and having loss educational backgrounded and living apart from family, When the average score of food habit was compared between groups, nurses group was lower than the other group, and shift workers. 3. The average score of gastric symptom was 8.1 among the total score 30. 4. she average gastric symptom score of the career women was resulted in less high among the younger, single, technical college graduated and living separately from the family. In the group comparison, the nurse group showed higher score than teachers and shift worker group showed higher score than nonshift worker. 5. There were negative correlation between food habit and gastric symptom. From the research point of view, the food habit of career women resulted differently depending on their occupations and invidual characteristics. Therefore, education and guidence for appropriate ate diet and food habit will be considered as necessary for health of the working women.

일부 생산직 중년 여성근로자의 역할갈등과 갱년기증상과의 관계

The purpose of this study was to analyze relationship between the role conflict and self-reported climacteric symptoms in the middle-aged industrial female workers. The data were collected by self-reported questionnaire from Nov. ito Nov. 30, 1996. The subjects were 201 women whose age, between 40 and 59 years. The analysis of data was t-test, ANOVA, Scheffetest, Pearson correlation coefficient analysis, stepwise multiple regression analysis. The results were as follows : 1. 54.8% of the respondents had their climacteric symptom in middle life. 2. Age and religion affected significantly selfreported climacteric symptoms(F=4.2P=.007 : t=-2.1, P=0.42). 3. A comparison between two groups, with high and low rate of self-reported clirmacteric symptoms, indicated that for middle-aged industrial female workers when role conflict is high, climacteric symptoms is high(t=7.8, P=000). 4. The relationship between self-reported climacteric symptoms and role conflict was positively significant(r=.5, P=.000). 5. The role conflict as a spouse affected significantly self-reported climacteric symptoms(F=52.6,P=.000). Role conflict the role as a spouse was explained 21% of self-reported climacteric symptoms. In conclusion, role conflict is the dominant factor in influencing self reported climacteric symptoms.
