병원간호사의 폭력경험, 감정노동, 직무 스트레스가 우울에 미치는 영향

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify the effects of violence experience, emotional labor and job stress on clinical nurses' depression and to provide suggestions for improving the quality of patient care. Methods: This research involved 257 clinical nurses who were working at an acute care hospital with at least 200 beds in S city and K province. Data were collected from May 23 to June 7 in 2014 and were analyzed using IBM SPSS version 21.0. Results: The results show that 98.1% of subjects had violence experience in the past year and the violence experience included 44.4% physical threat, 37.5% verbal violence and 18.1% physical violence. The average scores were emotional labor 3.57, job stress 3.54 and depression 21.16. There were positive correlations among violence experience, emotional labor, job stress and depression (p<.01). There were also significant co-relationships between depression and violence experience (r=.21, p=.001), between depression and emotional labor (r=.48, p<.001) and between depression and job stress (r=.31, p<.001). Conclusion: The results suggest that it is necessary to set up guidelines for clinical nurses to manage violence, emotional labor and job stress in order to create better working environment and to improve quality of patient care.

보육교사의 근골격계 증상에 영향을 미치는 요인

Purpose: This study was to explore factors affecting musculoskeletal symptoms of the child care centers' teachers in Korea. Methods: This study was a descriptive research, using a cross-sectional survey. Convenience samples of 230 child care centers' teachers aged 20 to 65 were selected. A self-administered questionnaire was used to measure general characteristics, job-related characteristics, exercise habit, fatigue and musculoskeletal symptoms of the body parts. The data were analyzed with the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results: Shoulder pain (73.5%), low back pain (72.6%) and wrist/hand pain (57.8%) were the most common musculoskeletal symptoms. Shoulder pain significantly differed depending on the age of children in charge at the child care center (p<.047). The exercise habit was related to low back pain (p<.028) and the career was linked to wrist/hand pain (p<.046). The logistic regression analysis revealed exercise habit and fatigue were the risk factors on musculoskeletal symptoms of many body parts. Conclusion: These results suggest that interventions targeting the child care centers' teachers should be considered job-related characteristics and fatigue in order to prevent musculoskeletal disorder. Thus, there continues to be a need to develop exercise program for the child care centers' teachers

상급종합병원 간호사의 언어폭력경험과 직무 스트레스와의 관계

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between upper-scale general hospital nurses’ experience of verbal abuse and job stress. Methods: Subjects were 245 nurses working at 3 upper-scale general hospitals in B city and the data were collected by convenience samples using self-reported questionnaires consist of general characteristics, verbal abuse and job stress. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Scheffé test and Pearson's correlation coefficients. Results: The mean score of verbal abuse level was 2.2 points and job stress level was 2.5 points. Experience of verbal abuse and job stress among the subjects had a positive correlation, and verbal abuse against nurses especially showed a strong correlation with job stress. Conclusion: Results of this study show that nurses’ experience of verbal abuse increases their job stress. Therefore, continuous education and training programs that are based on the case studies with coping method according to clinical careers and working areas are required to reduce upper-scale general hospital nurses’ experience of verbal abuse and decrease their job stress.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to describe cleaning workers’ working experiences in Korea. Methods: The data were collected in two focus-group interviews with 9 cleaning workers. The phenomenological analytic method suggested by Colaizzi was used to analyze the data. Results: Five theme clusters and thirteen themes emerged from the analysis. The first theme clusters, ‘Dead-end choice’ included Limits of elderly women workers, Financial difficulties, Lowered self-esteem. The second theme clusters, ‘Facing with discriminatory working environments’ included Fear and unfair working conditions. The third theme clusters, ‘Potential health problems’ included Physical overload, Repeated exposure to hazardous substances and Emotional labor. The fourth theme clusters, ‘Excluded from protection of the law’ included Gloomy reality and Sexual harassment. The fifth theme clusters, ‘Desire to get out of social isolation’ included Efforts to maintain the status, Desire to live confidently and Desire to change social recognition. Conclusion: The findings of the study provide understanding on cleaning workers’ working experiences to explain by their vision and language and should ensure proper working conditions and environment to live a better life.

보호직공무원의 소명의식이 직무만족에 미치는 영향 : 일의 의미와 경력몰입의 매개효과

Purpose: This study examined relations between perceiving a calling and job satisfaction in probation officers. Additionally, multiple mediator model was run to examine the mediating effect of work meaning and career commitment in the relations of perceiving a calling and job satisfaction. Methods: Four factors (job satisfaction, perceiving a calling, work meaning, career commitment) were measured with Likert scales. Data collection was conducted from Aug. 1 to Sept. 20, 2014 using self-report questionnaires. Participants (211 probation officers) were selected from 7 probation offices and 1 Juvenile Training School in Seoul of South Korea. Collected data were analyzed using SPSS/WIN 21, AMOS 21, and Sobel test. Results: The study result was as followings. 1) Job satisfaction was influenced by perceiving a calling, work meaning and career commitment. 2) Results indicated that work meaning and career commitment fully mediated the relation between perceiving a calling and job satisfaction. Conclusion: The results of this study indicate that improving job satisfaction and mental health in probation officers is necessary to implement concerning work meaning and career commitment program at the organizational level.

한국 임금근로자의 작업환경과 흡연율 간의 관계에 대한 연구

Purpose: This study investigated the relationship between working conditions and smoking among Korean employees using nationally representative data. Methods: We analyzed data from the Third Korean Working Conditions Survey to identify associations between various working conditions and smoking. We calculated the smoking prevalence depending on individual characteristics and working conditions. Also, multivariate logistic regression analysis was used to investigate the relationship between working conditions and smoking. Results: Company size, occupation type, employment type, working hours, working-time flexibility, and smoking-area policy were related to smoking among male employees, while company size, occupation type, employment type, and smoking-area policy were associated with smoking prevalence among females. Conclusion: Our results indicate that working conditions influence smoking prevalence, and the implementation of smoke-free policies is needed to target specific working conditions, including a strict no-smoking-area policy.

병원 청소근로자의 업무상 손상 양상과 관련요인

Purpose: This study was conducted to provide basic data for development of health care programs for cleaners working in hospitals by analyzing job-related injuries among them and related factors. Methods: The study surveyed cleaners working in 6 general hospitals in D metropolitan city. The questionnaire was structurally designed to include items about job-related injuries, working conditions, health related characteristics. For the analysis of the collected data, the SPSS/WIN 21.0 software was used, and t-test, ANOVA, correlation analysis, and regression analysis were conducted. Results: Factors that affect health damages were gender and income levels. Inadequate safety facilities and equipment, noise, and income levels were found to be the factors affecting accident injuries. Conclusion: In order to reduce the job-related injuries, efforts need to be made to improve working conditions to deal with inadequate safety facilities and equipment and control noise. To fulfill this need, not only employers of cleaners but also hospitals in which they work should make efforts to educate those cleaners who have little knowledge of health and medical care, and improve their working conditions.

중년 직장인의 가족 스트레스, 신체화 증상, 사회적 지지와 우울

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify family stress, somatization, social support, depression and its influencing factor among middle-aged workers. Methods: The research was cross-sectional descriptive study. The subjects were 212 middle-aged workers living in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. Data collection was done from May 21 to 31, 2015 using self-reported structured questionnaires asking about general characteristics, family stress, somatization, social support and depression. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, independent sample t-test, one way ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, stepwise multiple regression with SPSS/WIN 19.0 program. Results: Mean score of family stress was 41.67 (range: 25~125), somatization 17.42 (range: 12~60), social support 69.79 (range: 12~84) and depression 13.01 (range: 0~60) and reported as depression in 34.0%. Social support (β=-.36, p<.001), somatization (β=.28, p<.001), family stress (β=.15, p=.014) had significant association with depression and the most important variable was social support. Conclusion: It is suggested to check social support system in middle aged workers and needed to reinforce social support of community based on the relation of occupational category. Also, it is necessary to legalize the institutional devices to prevent and control depression to ensure industrial safety and disaster prevention.

남성 생산직과 사무직 근로자의 운동행위에 영향을 미치는 요인 : Pender의 건강증진 모형을 활용

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing exercise behaviors of the male manual workers and office workers based on health promotion model by examining the relationships among them, and then to provide basic information for developing exercise program. Methods: The 97 laborers and 99 officiers were collected from two worksites. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t- test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients and multiple regression. Results: Male laborers' exercise behavior was significantly influenced by exercise self-efficacy, exercise social support and exercise experience over 3 months, and these factors explained 50.2% of the total variance. Male officiers' exercise behavior was significantly influenced by exercise self-efficacy, subjective health status, perceived exercise barriers and exercise social support, and they explained 47.3% of the total variance. Conclusions: Based on the findings that exercise self-efficacy and exercise social support commonly influence exercise behavior of male laborers and officiers, there is a need to develop an exercise program to improve exercise self-efficacy and exercise social support.

근로여부에 따른 약물오남용과 우울, 주관적 건강상태, 건강행태와의 관련성

Purpose: This study was performed to investigate the present condition of drug abuse and its association with depression, self-rated health and health behaviors by job status in Korean adults. Methods: Data were derived from the study on four addiction problem and suicide in 2014. Multiple logistic regression was used to analyze patterns of drug abuse according to depression, self-rated health and health behaviors. Results: The prevalence of drug abuse during the past year was 17.1% of the 4,018 subjects. About 3.3 times risk for drug abuse was found among individuals who had high depression scores. The risk of drug abuse was higher among those who were smoking (OR:1.46, 95% CI:1.17~1.83), drinking more frequently (OR:1.30, 95% CI:1.07~1.58), sleeping insufficiently (OR:1.31, 95% CI:1.03~1.67), eating irregularly (OR:1.45, 95% CI:1.19~1.76). Drug abuse problem was detected more seriously among employed than unemployed adults. Conclusion: Health-related behaviors, such as smoking, drinking, sleeping, eating should be considered simultaneously when designing strategies to deal with drug abuse problem, and it is important to understand the interaction between drug abuse and mental health. Furthermore, workplace based intervention can be effective in solving drug abuse problem.
