병원간호사의 근무형태에 따른 일-생활 양립 갈등이 이직의도에 미치는 영향

This study analyzes the relationship between work-life conflict and turnover intention among hospital nurses. Furthermore, it seeks to determine whether the relationship between the two varies depending on the shift work condition of the nurses. Methods: A total of 435 nurses working at five tertiary hospitals were included in the study. The questionnaire included items on turnover intentions, work-life conflicts, sociodemographic factors, working conditions, and internal and external resources. Results: The level of work-life conflict among shift work nurses was higher than that of non-shift work nurses. The turnover intention was also higher for shift work nurses than for non-shift work nurses. Results from the multivariate logistic regression analysis revealed that the work-life conflict of nurses had a positive relationship with turnover intention. The effect of work-life conflict on turnover intention was greater for shift work nurses than for non-shift work nurses. Conclusion: Work-life conflict had a greater impact on the turnover intention of hospital nurses working under shift work conditions. Based on this study’s findings, it can be suggested that, in order to reduce high turnover intention, it will be necessary to make specific efforts to balance work-life conflict and improve working conditions.

직장에 복귀한 암 생존자의 직장 생활의 질에 영향을 미치는 요인

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to identify factors influencing the quality of working life of cancer survivors (QWL-CS) after return to the workplace. Methods: Data were collected from 154 cancer survivors from May 16 to June 23, 2018. Participants were selected as candidates from two different hospitals in the metropolitan area and snowball sampling was used in parallel. The data were analyzed by SPSS 21.0 using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple linear regression. Results: Mean score of QWL-CS was 4.39±0.59. QWL-CS was negatively correlated with fatigue, and job stress: however, it was positively correlated with workplace spirituality. The factor that had the greatest influence on the QWL-CS was job stress (β=-.36, p<.001), followed by fatigue (β=-.35, p<.001), workplace spirituality (β=.35, p<.001), number of currently cancer treatment (β=-.15, p=.009), and number of children (β=.12, p=.031). The explanatory power of models was 54%. Conclusion: Effective and practical intervention programs for increasing the quality of working life are required to be provided to cancer survivors after return to the workplace in accordance with job stress, fatigue, workplace spirituality, and general characteristics of cancer survivors such as number of currently cancer treatments and number of children.

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the effect of job stress, coping behavior, and hardiness on burnout in nurses in the emergency department (ED). Methods: Data were acquired via self-reporting questionnaires from 148 nurses in EDs at one general hospital, four university hospitals, and six hospitals with >200 beds. Data were analyzed using the SPSS 23.0 program through descriptive statistics, t-test, analysis of variance, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and stepwise multiple regression. Results: A statistically significant difference in burnout was observed with respect to the age of the nurses. Burnout was positively correlated with job stress and wishful thinking and detachment, among coping behaviors, and was negatively correlated with hardiness. Job stress and wishful thinking, among coping behaviors, were significant predictors of burnout and were observed in 14.9% of the nurses who experienced burnout. Conclusion: According to our results, job stress was identified as the most significant factor which influenced burnout in ED nurse's. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and implement educational programs for reducing job stress and minimizing the use of wishful thinking as a coping behavior in order to alleviate the burnout in ED nurses.

한국 근로자의 근로생애주기별 사고경험률

Purpose: In this study, we attempted to analyze the occupational accident experience rate by working life cycle of Korean workers considering entrance and turnover in their jobs. The specific goal of this study was to calculate the accident experience rate according to workers' turnover history and previous accident experience. Methods: We constructed a cumulative data set of 90,338 cases of workers' accident experiences in their jobs from the Fourth Korean Working Conditions Survey. The accident experience rates according to workers' turnover and previous accident experiences were analyzed using descriptive statistics and analysis of variance. Results: In this study, the cumulative accident experience rate of Korean workers was found to be 5.2%. It was confirmed that the accident experience rate of workers increased as the turnover frequencies increased. In addition, we analyzed only the data of the workers who had experienced turnover and found that the accident experience rate after turnover increased about 7.5 times when workers had experienced accidents in the past. Conclusion: To prevent occupational accidents in workers, safety strategies should consider a worker's previous job history and injury experiences. It will also be necessary to focus preventive efforts on new and young workers through ongoing monitoring and on-the-job training.

Purpose: This study aimed to comprehend the real context of metabolic syndrome-related factors of Korean male blue-collar workers from small-sized companies based on the health belief model. Methods: A total of 37 workers from three companies were interviewed, and three series of focus group interviews were conducted. Data were analyzed using deductive content analysis. Results: Data were classified into four categories: knowledge, perceived susceptibility and severity, perceived barriers, and beliefs. Knowledge referred to low knowledge level; perceived susceptibility and severity referred to unawareness of susceptibility and severity; perceived barriers referred to shift work, overtime work, and a social context including having no choice but to drink; and beliefs referred to believing that health promotion behaviors do not relate to preventing metabolic syndrome, believing that one cannot prevent metabolic syndrome oneself, and believing that professional help is required. Conclusion: To prevent and reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome among Korean male blue-collar workers, interventions should focus on strategies to increase metabolic syndrome-related knowledge and perceptions, social support, and self-efficacy for practicing health behaviors. In addition, it is necessary to develop policies for establishing a healthy drinking culture in companies.

응급실 간호사의 회복탄력성, 분노표현양식이 간호업무성과에 미치는 영향

Purpose: This study aimed to identify the influence of nurses’ resilience and anger expression styles on their nursing work performance in emergency departments. Methods: The study included 107 nurses from 5 hospitals in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do who consented to participate. Data ware collected from March to April 2016. Multiple regression analysis was used to identify factors influencing nurses’ performance. Results: Nurses’ performance was higher when resilience was high and anger expression was low. The result of the multiple regression indicated that present working years in the emergency room, work satisfaction, anger expression, anger control, and resilience predicted 39.4%(F=7.27, p<.001) of the nursing performance of hospital nurses in emergency departments. The most powerful predictor was resilience (β=.45, p<.001), followed by anger-out (β=-.25, p=.006). Conclusion: This study showed that the most influential variables of work performance in emergency nurses ware resilience and anger expression. To enhance the nursing performance of hospital nurses in emergency departments, it is necessary to develop and implement mentorship programs that enhance resilience and educational programs that help them manage their anger.
