The purpose of this study was to analyse the level of recognition and performance of clinical nurses about the prevention of nosocomial infection. Subjects of the study were 425 nurses working at two university hospitals. Self report questionnaires were used to measure the level of recognition and performance about the prevention of nosocomial infection. These instruments had five dimensions of the management of nosocomial infection hand washing, fluid therapy. foley catheterization respiratory tract., and aseptic articles Reliability coefficients of these instruments were found cronbach's α=94.95 Data collected from August1 to August 15, 2000. The results of the study were as follows 1) The mean score of the recognition scores about the management. of nosocomial infection was 3.89. 2) The mean score of the performance about the management of nosocomial infaction was 3.42 3) The moan score of the recognition about the management of nosocomial infection was significantly higher than the performance score(t=25.72 p<001). 4) There was significant difference in the score of the recognition about managment in nosocomial infection according to nurses working unit(p<001)

This study is to observe the effectiveness of the applied model and to present the improvement plan and directions for development for the case management practical model suitable for the actual condition of Korea Labor Welfare Co. and needs of the industrial injury patients. The concrete purpose of this study is; First. observe the difference of stressor experience and experience degree between the experimental group and the comparative group. Second, observe the difference of stress of the experimental group and the comparative group. Third, find out how the stress affects the support degree and satisfaction degree. Fourth, present the improvement plan of case management model which can promote the psychosocial rehabilitation of the industrial injury patient based on the research results. The outline of the main research results identified in this study is as follows The stressors the industrial injury patients perceived ito health problems. family matters, the problems concerning hospital recuperation hospital staff and envioronmental problems) economical problems. problems of coming back to society , problems. with companies, problems with Korea labour Welfare Co. and other problems. And the experience of stressor was prominently lower in experimental group than comparative group in the whole problem ,health problem, problems with Korea Labour Welfare Co. and other problems. The stressor experience degree was conspicuously lower in experimental group in the whole problem experience degree, health problem experience degree, problem with Korea Labour Co experience degree and other problem experience degree. Besides whether or not the case management is applied is having a prominent affect on the primary factor affecting the stressor experience degree, therefore the patients applied with ease management has less stressor than the patient who didn't The difference of degree of tension experienced by the stressor in both groups, the degree of stress. was riot conspicuous in statistics so it shows that the application of case management in this research has not affected the degree of tension. The field which had been the most help was emotional support in help level the experimental group perceived through applying case management about ad ist via accident patients and recuperation compensation problem, medical treatment pa b] em, family matters has been helpful iii tins order. The help level of the whole problem m was in higher level than the middle value. The stress factor which affecting the case management. problem settlement is the whole body of .stress. The satisfaction level of help through applying case management was highest in emotional support and family matters, recuperation problem. company problem, compensation problem, and medical treatment problem was the next highest The satisfaction level of the whole problem was higher than the middle value. The stress factor affecting the satisfaction level of help is the whole body of stress. Therefore to reduce the stress level of industrial occident patients and for them to come back to local societies, we need to reinforce the continuance and responsibility of case management model, increase staff, reinforce the role of counsel and medical treatment., intervene in the patients plan of leaving thy hospital. develop social support system and the need to establish After Care Center.

신문사 근로자들의 스트레스와 건강상태에 관한 연구

This study was designed to assess the relationship between occupational stress and health status in a study group of 197 workers employed in four newspaper publishing companies, using a self-adminstrative questionnaire. The types of occupation of them were reporters(79). clerical workers(54). and engineers64) The studies on workers health have been focused mainly on the physical, chemical, and biological diseases in oui country. Therefore the study of mental health. especially of occupational stress. is to be carried out I consider stress as a factor having an effect on the health status of the newspaper employees. who have been well known to have high stress due to time pressures. I expect that this research will be helpful not only for understanding of health status by occupation, but also for making clear the issues that have been raised continuously from the previous researches The results of this study are as follows 1. The mean values of stress by occupation were statistically significant: the reporters had the highest stress symptom scores, and the engineers had the lowest levels of working hours. 2. The health status by occupation showed significant differences in gastrointestinal systems and in depression. The clerical workers were healthier than the engineers in gastrointestinal systems, and the reporters were more depressed than the engineers in depression 3. The health status by the general characteristics, there was a statistical significance as for a gender, marital status, and absenteeism in the gastrointestinal systems. The men, the married, and the workers who had not been absent were more healthy. Ode absenteeism had effect on the problems in optical-dermal systems and in ore--fecal systems. Gender. marital status, absenteeism, and working hours were j elated with health status the men, the married, the workers who had not been absent, and the workers who had longer working bouts were more healthy, in mental stability, gender had a significant effect the men were more healthy than the women In general condition. the mien, the older, the married, and the workers who had not been absent were mote healthy. 4. stress level had an effect on the health status in the respiratory systems. optical-dermal systems, ore fecal system depression. mental stability, general condition, arid health condition. The workers who perceived more stress had more problems in their health status. 5. In the results of the multiple regression analyses, age in the respiratory systems, ,absenteeism in the optical-dormal systems. occupation in the gastrointestinal systems and in the oro -fecal systems. gender in depression and in mental stability gender age , absenteeism, and working hours in the general condition absenteeism in ter health condition had an effect on ter health of the workers.

The a purpose of this study was to find out the status of occupational health management and the degree of recognition the occupational health management employees 248 small -sca1e enterprises which hove been managed by the small -scale enterprises health care management support institution in 1999. were selected for study, in Kwang-ju City. 98 employees were selected in 116 industries of them to grasp recognition of employees about the occupational health management The Status of Occupational Health Management 1. Of the sample industries, 62.1 percent employed eleven to twenty nine workers. (if the sample workers, 72.1 percent occupied workers who were engaged in the production line. 2. Environment evaluation was made on 82.7 percent of the sample industries and general exam made on 66.5 percent and specific health exam done on 73 4 percent. 3. The harmful factors in the sample industries were found to lie noise, dust, solvent, heavy metal etc. 4. In general health exam 1.774 workers were participated and 148 workers got the result of above grade C and were diagnosed as having the problems with digestive system (63.6.%). circulatory system(20.6%), etc. The Degree of Recognition about, The Occupational Health Management of Employees. 1. Respondents were mainly in the twenties (42.9%), males(69. 1%), duration of working period of five to ten years(24.O%). office workers(51 .0%) monthly income under one million(55.7%) 2. Recognition of employees about the occupational health management consists of workplace environmental evaluation, health education, health exam and protector management. Their recognition on health education showed high score (mean 3.1), hut generally the score was low(mean 2,9).

In health promotion program, the lao 01 gaining weight is often given as a reason for giving tip smoking cessation by the participants. The purpose of this study is to compare drinking habit, exercise and 13N1l distribution according to smoking habits The subjects of this study were 83 industrial workers in Gu-mi. Data collection was conducted from Sep. 18th to Sep. 24th 2000. The method was self-reported questionnaire survey, consisted of general characterisics . smoking habits and its relevant questions. The results are as follows 1. Fifty nine percents of the subjects were currently smoking. 2. Smoking habits were significantly related with drinking(p .049). More smokers(31 . 6%) reported drinking habit than non-smokers(61.7%). 3. Forty one point two percents of the non smoker and 34.7% of the smoker perceived their body type as fat 4. The mean values of BM1 were 22.0 in smokers with 1-9 cigarettes/day, 24.2 in 10-19 cigarettes/day smokers and 24.0 in smokers with over 20 cigarettes/day There are no statistically significant differences in BM1 among smoking habits. 5. BM1 among different smoking habit groups was not significant different in age. drinking habit, exercise, and smoking habit.

This study was carried out to investigate the types 01 health documents for nurses, the content of informations in the documents, and writing behaviors of occupational health nurses. Health documents were collected from nurses who were working in 7 group occupational health agencies (GOHA) located at Seoul and Inchon area in Korea. The collected health documents written in January to June 1999 were analyzed. and revealed the following resulte. 1) The occupational health nurses were using 9 to 18 different types of health documents The contents of the documents were considered quite similar to each other with slightly different headings and items to record Among different types of health documents, health Management Card for Workplace Nursing performance sheet and Workplace environmental checklist were in common among nurses and were used lot content analysis. 2) The health Management Card for Workplace was the only formal sheet of small-scale enterprises (SSE) for health management, in which health and safety related information was recorded. The information on nursing services were recorded on the Nursing performance sheet. which has slightly different names on each type with similar contents. The Workplace environment checklist was for the information on genera] work environment management and mainly status of workplace hygiene. This checklist is to be used by or with nurses among the 3 types health professional team such as doctor. hygienist, and nurse, but it seemed not being used frequently by nurses. 3) Analysis on recording tendencies of nurses revealed that the writing styles of occupational health nurses were associated with memo using a few number of word and short sentences. The amount of infer motion by this kind of recording style was considered not enough for health management situation The possible reasons for nurses to use this writing style might he insufficient time for recording and improper designed format of health documents. Because nurse working in SSE spend more time on the roads to visit workplaces, nurses may not found enough time for recording properly within their working time. In addition, the health records were designed t. focus on the frequency of nurse s performance in certain types of work rather than on the method they used to deal with health problems. In conclusion, this study suggests that some steps are necessary to develop health documents and recording system which is appropriate opt1 ate to occupational health nurses. The educational need for nurses on appropriate recording behavior is also recommended.

The purposes of this study are to identity stress and coping strategies of married working women. Data were collected from 185 married working women, living in the metropolitan area. The results were as follows: 1. Low family function and high occupational stress affected stress symptoms of married working women significantly, but type A personality was not related to the stress symptoms. 2. The mole the married wet king women perceived stress symptoms. the more the utilized organizational coping strategies. 3. The women who used personal coping strategies effectively also used more effective organizational coping strategies. 4. Two paths were statistically significant, family function -stress symptoms, occupational stress- stress symptoms. But the others were not. Based on those results. the model was modified by adding four paths : A type personality personal coping strategies, occupational stress organizational coping strategies, personal coping strategies organizational coping strategies, organizational coping strategies stress symptoms. 5. The modified model produced a better fit than hypothetical model(GFI=0.9985, ACFI=0.9893, NFI=0.9920, NNFI=1.1330, RMSR=0.0030, PNFI=0.1984). in conclusion, the stress management. for married working women needs to focus on both organizational coping strategies and personal coping strategies.

This study was performed to review applying the case management to the occupational health nursing as a cost effective way for injured workers. The case management for injured workers is a comprehensive management system. which is composed of planning and implementing in cooperation with employee employee family, medical service provider team, employer and case manager, to provide high quality health services to employee and their family. The case management process for injured workers is similar to the nursing process. It thus appears that the occupational health nurse is best personnel to perform the role of case manager for injured workers in workplace. As a case manager in workplace, the occupational health nurse would be expected to get both knowledge and experiences, to get. trusted from the employee and employer. and to expand professional domain in changing health care environment.
