The emulsification of lithographic printing inks are very important to determine printing quality. In this study, we measured the variation of water pickup according to the hardness of water in dampening solution. In order to observe the rheorogical properties of the emulsified inks, we measured the viscosity, the elastic return, the thixotropy area and yield stress value of the emulsified inks. In this paper, we found that the water pickup of the ink increase the hardness of water with the amount of dampening solution. Also, The viscosity, the yield stress value and the thixotropy area were increase by the water pickup of the ink.

Four screen mesh counts of 100, 150, 200, and 305 threads per inch are chosen and a designed test figure is exposed on them for printing experiment to measure the ink deposit thickness. Among a number of variables, the ink viscosity, the screen gap and the squeegee pressure and speed are estimated with their effected thickness. These variables affect as much as around 50% compared with the theoretical ink volume listed by the mesh manufacturer and each variable has different influence on the thickness. The data and graphs have been analyzed for the thick film production.

Screen printing is a stencil process whereby ink is transferred to the substrate through a stencil supported by a fine fabric mesh. Therefore screen had a tendency to distort and swell, as ink was deposited between the fibers, and were difficult to clean. The tow importance of stencil parameters that affect print quality are stencil thread diameter and the fabric thickness because of their influence on both ink deposit and print definition. Since screen printing inks can be formulated to adhere to almost any surface, and the printing process itself can be handled almost any substrate in a wide variety of shape, screen printing is a very versatile process. The small size pronting is reproduced image used screen printing because the surface of substrates is not suited at screen printing method. In screen printing, the need of high definition printing is gradually increasing according to developing special inks. A conventional haftone, so called AM screening, is simple and easy to implement, but the haftone dot patterns by using this method are not free for the moire fringe. This paper is used densitometry and image analysis to investigate relation with printing according to screen mesh, opening size and resolution of copy in image reproduction used FM screen. We had the good result of dot gain and tone reproduction on the screen printing of high definition using FM screen.

In these day, our life has been developed with the computer. Printing Industry was introduced the information industry as computer, internet, etc. These are now in daily use and covers the entire work flow - from the planing of the product and the production at domestic printing industry. Then, I suggest the correspondence of changing printing work flow, understanding of digital printing technique, rearing of a special line of business, adjustment in the environment changing of printing technique etc. for the purpose of development of domestic printing industry.

It is required to estimate color reproduction accurately in printing. Because printing technology has been developing, and most people want to see the best color reproduction. Therefore many color reproduction methods, such as Neural Network, LUT(Look Up Table) have been proposed for a long time. However, these methods are required to measure a lot of samples of printing. In this paper, we propose a new method that prediction of color reproduction based on compensated Neugebauer model for dotgain. This method was significant to increase an accuracy of color prediction with simple process.

This research attempts on plate making for gravure. Direct Hard Dot Method, Helio Kliso Graph, and Laser TB Dot; these three method are the most popular in Korea. For examining ink transmission, three plates were made in the above three different way for the same manuscript and were printed under the same condition. After printing speed was also varied into 150line/inch, 175line/inch, and 200line/inch, ink transmission was examined too. After printing the same manuscript with the above three method then the researcher examined level of ink transmission. Printing lines shows that Laser TB Dot Method and Direct Hard Dot Method were favorable level, while there was big differences of state of Helio Kliso Graph plate.

Recently, the flatbed scanner is widely used to input color original copy in printing industry. In the process of RGB-to-CMY transformation for the scanned colors using the look-up table(LUT) based on the color gamut of the actual output device, however, the problem that some colors in the original out of the gamut cannot be printed, may occur. In this study, another color transformation method applicable to any kind of originals using the new LUT with extended gamut based on the ideal output device, was examined and proposed.

The effect of various precipitants on the sizes and the shapes was investigated using a scanning electron microscopes when the α-FeOOH particles was possible in a selection of an appropriate precipitants after due considerations of the shape and the growth of particles.

Two-page spread sheet advertising appearing on monthly women's magazine were selected and analyzed for this study. All 299 advertisements were sampled from 5 kinds of women's magazines published from January to June in 2002. The results shows that; 1) all elements of layout in advertisements are significantly related to product life cycle; 2) Similarity of layout type proposed to differentiate layout from competitor's advertisements; 3) Realistic picture of products using high technological equipments and skill occupied most of ad space. It proposed the possibility of varied illustration type; finally, Using foreign models both imported products and domestic products are increased. It shows that the level of westernized insight of current consumer.

On the process of cross-media color reproduction, a key feature is the use of gamut mapping techniques to adjust the different color gamuts between displays and printers. Even though a nunber of gamut mapping algorithms were published in the past, only limited colorimetric evaluation of them has been carried out to date. In this paper, the multi-anchor points clipping method(MAPC) was proposed as a new gamut mapping algorithm compensating the defects of the current algorithms such as nearest point clipping method(NPC), centroid clipping method(SLIN), straight clipping method(LLIN) and maximum chroma clipping method(CUSP).

Chemically amplified deep UV(CA-DUV) resists are typically based on a combination of an acid labile polymer and a photoacid generator(PAG) but acid amplification type photoresist is formulated by addition of the acid amplifiers to chemically amplified resist system(CAPs). We developed acid amplifiers base on cyclohexanediol such as 1-methacryloyloxy-4-tosyloxy cyclohexane(MTC) and poly(MTC10-co-tBMA90)(P-1) to enhance photosensitivity. P-1 is a copolymer of tert-butyl methacrylate and MTC as a positive working photoresist based on polymeric acid amplifier in order to enhance photosensitivity and simplify the process of fomulating a photoresist. P-1 exhibited 2X higher photosensitivity compared with PtBMA. The acid amplifiers showed reasonable thermal stability for resist processing temperature and higher photosensitivity compared with chemically amplified resist.
Typeface and Color; Focused on Two-Page Spread Color Advertisements in Women's Magazine

From women's magazine published between January to June in 2002. Ywo page spread magazine advertising were selected for this study. From the findings, standard layout of two page spread advertisements in women's magazine Language are enumerated. It is written in Korean or Korean and English in black roman/serifs or square typeface for headline copy written in same typeface. Two to three color are used for typeface in the most ads. The relationship between product life cycle and all research items shows that there is very strong relationship.

Two different commercial brand X-ray films are used for examining possible differences caused by different target distances when the patients are examined with highenergy X-rays. 6MV- and 15MV X-rays are tested at four different target distances. The films on which the radiation amounts are gradually increased using HO phantoms are developed by an automatic developing machine to be analysed in the image densities. Characteristic curves have similar shapes for different conditions but for the 130cm target distance. values and average image densities per the illuminated radiation are used to analyse the differences.
