EFFECT OF COATING COMPOSITION IN DOUBLE COATING ON THE PENETRATION OF FINE PARTICLES INTO SUBSTRATE

The influence of the first coating layer on the properties of the second coating layer is reported. For various model coating composition, ratios of first and second coating weights are used to generate coating layers. The void volume, pore size distribution and light scatter coefficient of the coatings are measured. In some cases, the fine material from the second layer seems to penetrate the first layer to reduce the void fraction of the total system. Rapid setting coating, for example thin layers on porous first layer tends to generate porous coating layers.

UV-curable resin has the properties of quick-drying, high productivity at low temperature, energy, space saving, solventless, non-polluting and low-stinking, and thus, UV-curing system has been widely used in the fields of printing inks, adhesives, paints and coating agents. This study has been executed to develop a new functionnal material by the polymerization induced phase separation. The results obtained were as follows. As for the curing properties of the monomer/prepolymer/alkyd resin blends, it was found out that there was a peak by the polymerization induced phase separation when measuring the changes of viscosity and elasticity. It was also found out that such polymerization phase separation occurred in case that the alkyd resin contents were 20wt% and 30wt% and not found at the contents of 40wt%. Therefore, it would be desirable to maintain the contents of alkyd resin at less than 30wt% in order to use the polymerization induced phase separation.

분광반사율에 기반한 색영상처리 시스템 개발

In recent year, many imaging systems have been developed, and it became increasingly important to exchange image data through the computer network. Therefore, it is required to reproduce color image independently on each imaging device. However, even if the image are same, perceived color is not always same under different viewing conditions. On the other hand, even if the image are different, we want to perceive same color under different viewing conditions. Therefore we must know the spectral reflectance information of object. We measured many reflectance human skin can be estimate using only three principal component. For Munsell color patches, five principle components were necessary to estimate the reflectance spectra. For that purpose, we have developed color image acquisition system that is composed of five band filters and CCD camera. Improved spectral reflectance of object is predicted by five band images taken by color image acquisition system and then we take account of camera's noise and component of object image for predicting accurate spectral reflectance of object. In the results, we confirmed that color difference and MSE(Mean Square Error) between measured and predicted spectral reflectance of object decreased into 0.0071 and 7.72 respectively.

Recently, as the prepress mainstream is changed to the digital workflow, various digital proofing systems such as high price dye sublimation printers and low price ink jet printers are widely used in printing industry. However, most of the digital proofing devices have lower resolution than analog proofing systems and differ with actual color presses in the color gamuts. Therefore, proper color compensations are needed for digital color proofing in order to match colors between the proofs and the press sheets. This study shows the application method of Look-up Table to the digital color proofer of Rainbow, the analog proofer of Matchprint-II, and an actual offset press is effective on the color compensations.

Transmittances of SiO2 and ZrO2 thin films, made by the electron beam evaporation method, were measured with a spectrophotometer to be used in determining their optical constants and thicknesses in the envelop method. New color glass lenses with high transmittance, which now can be manufactured in the industry, was successfully designed by using these constants. Also the vacuum evaporator could be mechanically corrected with these constants as correction factors.

The characteristics of liquid crystal polymer composite(LCPC) films are possessed of large-area and flexible display, polarizer free, high contrast, wide angle of visual filed and high responsiveness. It is well known that the LCPC films consisting of a continuous LC phase embeded in a three-dimentional network of polymer matrix are formed by photopolymerization-induced phase separation. In this study, we have investigated the point that both liquid crystals and polymer having different properties have to coexiste as composed films. The purpose of this study has been the development of new application with liquid crystals and UV-curable monomers. In the results abtained on the miscibility of nematic liquid crystal and UV-curable resins, difunctional monomer HX-620 turned out to shows the best. From the results abtained on structures, electro-optical properties and dynamic visocoelasticity for LCPC films, the best mixing ratio of monomer to LC mixture were 3/7(photoinitiator; 4wt%) by weight, and this ratio has been provided the most thermal stability for LCPC films. In the results abtained on structure and discoloration properties of LCPC films, it has been demonstrated that consiste of a 8:2 mixture of chiral nematic liquid crystal and HX-620 has the greatest domain and it was the best discoloration.

The water-based ink has lately attracted considerable attention because of problems of energy and population. Carbon blacks have been widely utilized in water-based systems to provide pigmentation. One of the most important factors in the successful formulation of an aqueous system containing carbon black is the dispersion and the selection and proper utilization of the dispersing agent. This is similar to water-based ink. This paper discusses dispersion of carbon black with the factors affecting the dispersing agent requirement (DAR) and describes a laboratory method for determining it. Variables that affect the dispersion, such as structure, surface area, and oxidation level of the carbon black are examined through test data. Anionic and nonionic dispersing agents are evaluated using the DAR method. From this study, the increased surface area, the increased DAR is indicated. DAR is indicated to depend on HLB(Hydrophilic Lipophilic Balance) of dispersing agent and pH of dispersing system.

The mottling in coated paper is one of the most difficult problems to solve in the area of offset printing. The prevention of mottling requires optimization of coating color formation, especially the minimum of binder migration. In this paper, we studied a mottling. Kaolin clay and CaCO3 as pigment, starch and latex as binder of coating color were used in this study. We have measured surface property of 24 coated samples through k value, mottle value and transferred ink. In the equation of Walker and Fesko, the value of k was the highest and that of mottle and the mount of transferred ink were the lowest in kaolin 60 part. And it is more easy to analyze the various surface of coated paper when sample was exposed on IR.

탈묵제에 따른 탈묵 펄프의 강도적 성질에 대한 연구

This paper presents the second part of a study of deinking using wort. Physical properties of deinked pulps such as tensile strength, bursting strength and tearing resistance were investigated. In order to analyze the properties, the fiber length and coarseness of deinked pulp was also measured. Results of deinking experiments showed that the deinking efficiency of enzyme treatments was higher than that of chemical treatments in strength properties such as tensile strength, bursting strength and tearing resistance on the the whole. we think that the reason why is that the fiber length and coarseness of deinked pulp with wort are more increased and decreased than those of deinked pulp with chemicals individually.

The color space transformation to link device-dependent color spaces and device-independent color spaces is essential for device characterization and cross-media color reproduction. There are various color conversion methods such as regression, 3D interpolation with LUT(look-up table), and neural network. In the color transformation with these methods, the conversion accuracy is essentially based on the sample data to be exploited for device characterization. In conventional method, color samples are uniformly selected in device-dependent space such as CMY and RGB. However, distribution of these color samples is very non-uniform in device-independent color space such as CIEL*a*b*. Accordingly, the conversion error in device-independent color space is irregular according to the distribution of the samples. In this paper, a color sampling method based on equi-visual perception is proposed to obtain approximate uniform color samples in CIEL*a*b* space. In order to evaluate transformation accuracy of proposed method, color space transformations are simulated using regression, 3D interpolation with LUT and neural network techniques, respectively.

신규 Squarylium Dyes에 의한 Poly(vinyl cinnamoyl acetate)의 고감도화(II)

A previous paper was reported in being sensetized photopolymer, poly(vinyl cinnamoyl acetate) (PVCiA)1) with some squarylium dyes such as 1,3-bis(4 or 6-trifluouomethy1-1,3,3-trimethylindo) squarylium dyes(TFSQ). Here, we synthesized new 1,3-bis(4 or 6-nitro-1,3,3-trimethylindo) squarylium dyes(NISQ) to sensetize photopolymer, such as poly(vinyl cinnamoyl acetate). Absorption's coefficient of (NISQ8) is 8.5x105, the sensitivity of PVCiA added with NISQ8(3%) was highly sensitized 8 times than not added, and 2 times than TFSQ8(3%). Maybe, high absorption'scoefficient and red shift of NISQs with strongly withdrawing group to TFSQs afford to the high sensitivity of PVCiA.

This study is to test the possibility of applying the low-molecular weighted waste cellulase, which is produced in the process of cellulase production, to paper making. After experimenting on high-crystallized non-wood fibers with beating catalyst. I got the result that the condition for the optimal effect is temperature 40~60℃, the time 90min to 120min, pH 5.0 to 6.0, the enzyme contents 0.3% and that the effect of beating such as slight reduction of fiver viscosity, increase of water retention value(WRV) and shortening of fiber length was increased with waste cellulase. Through this process, the density, folding endurance, tensile strength and burst strength of paper was remarkably increased, which is inferred to result from the increased flexibility of fiber by individual characteristics of non-wood fiber, which was high-crystallized by penetrated low-molecular weight cellulases in the fiber.

To examine how the difference of molecular weight distribution of cellulase influenced the beating process according to surface pore size of the fiber, high molecular weight enzyme and low one were applied to soft wood pulp, hard wood pulp, cotton linter pulp. Some enzymes with the distribution of low molecular weight penetrated into cellulose in the proportion of surface pore size and the results were negative as like : the low viscosity, decrease of refining Yield, decrease of fine fibers content and so on. But in cotton linter pulp in the small surface area, the fiber softness was increased and it had a positive result that the paper intensity was high. Other enzymes with the distribution of high molecular weight had an enzyme reaction on the most surfaces of cellulose. They were effective in eliminating the fuzz of hydrophile fine fibers and the freeness was increased.

UV-curable resins have adventages of quick set, space saving, clean environment, and efficient use of energy. The polymerization induced phase separation has been studied to solve the problem in UV-curing of thick films and develop the new functional materials. On the exposure to UV irradiation, the dynamic elasticity properties were mesured for mixtures of alkyd resin and UV-cruable monomers which have different molecular structures and molecular weights. The curing rate increases with increasing temperature and UV intensity. In addition, The gel point is strongly influenced by temperature and UV intensity
