In this paper, the preparation of lead zirconium titanate(PZT) thin film by sol-gel processing was descried. Thin film coated with thickness of 4 on the stainless steel substrates using the multiple spin-coating process. The crystalline phases of PZT powder and film were investigated by X-ray diffraction pattern and PZT thin film has perovskite structure over 600 C annealing temperature. Corona charging characteristics of the ferroelectric PZT thin film at 600 C were investigated by electrophotographic measurement. A difference in the charging characteristics between positive and negative corona charging was found. The charge acceptance depended in the polarity of corona and the poling of film. According to the D-E hysteresis measurment, PZT thin film can be poled by corona charging without use of top electrode. The remnant polarization in the PZT thin film is generally in the order of 48C/. From this results, the ferroelectric PZT thin film will be possible to apply for the add-on type imaging formation.

이량체액정의 PVT측정과 상전이 거동

N-substituted acrylamide hydrogel is reported to have the feature of bing transparent and sensitive enough to response to a temperature stimulus below the temperature of phase transition. Especially at the near of 35 C it becomes shrunk and opaque very quickly. It has also the characteristic of reversing swelling and shrinking. The experiment showed that it is possible to produce a functional gel of super water absorption with the process of free radical polymerizing PVA(polyvinylalcohol) and PAA(polyacrylamide), and crosslinking. The ratio of shrinking and swelling caused by copolymerization rises 10% to 80% at the each temperature of 20 C, 30 C, 40 C, respectively. Phase transition temperature of this gel by copolymerization is50 C while that of ordinary N-substituted acrylamides is between 32~35 C. This temperature reaches the rearing limit of animals and plants so that volumetric transition polymer gel can be ulilized in varying fields such as agriculture/gardening which are water-using field, on-off switch sensing temperature and volumetric variation, processing of liquid wastes and civil engineering works, architecture and electronics. We have no doubt that this material will be the high-functional resin in the hi-tech age of the near future.

For the purpose of study on the printability of domestic art papers, the physical properties of domestic coated paper for offset printing were investigated. 25 kinds of sample papers were prepared and were examined in accordance with KS and TAPPI standard testing method i.e., basis weight, density, opacity, gloss, roughness, smoothness, brightness, and K&N absorption. IGT printability tester was used to obtain the printability parameters, such as maximum ink requirement of paper Y, limiting printing density D print through, and density smoothness constant m value.

Deuterium NMR studies have been carried out for two kinds of main- chain dimer liquid crystals .-bis[(4,4`-cyanobipheny0oxy] alkane (CBA-n, n=9,100.The H-NMR spectra were recorded on a JEOP JNM-GSX-500 spectrometer by using deuterium labelled CBA-n at various temperatures. The RIS analysis of the NMR spectra was performed so as to elucidate the conformational characteristics of the spacer in the nematic phase. Following the previous treatment, the single-ordering-matrix model was adopted, in which the molecular axis was defined parallel to the line connecting the centers of the terminal mesogenic cores. Conformer fractions of the spacer were estimated by simulation so as to reproduce the observed NMR profile. The conformational entropy changes at both CN and NI interphases were estimated on the basis of the nematic conformations taken from the conformation map as well as those derived from the simulation. In these calculations the spacer was assumed th by in the all-trans conformation and in the random coil stats in the crystal and isotropic phases respectively. The esimated conformational entropy change values were then compared with the corresponding constant-volume entropies obtained from PVT measurements. The correspondence between both entropy values was found to be quite good in consideration of the uncertainties involved in both experiment and calculations.

In the today, regarded as a science on photography, the role of the lens and sensitized is important. In this research, we manufactured a hand-made lens which is based on the general purpose lens, and made a diapgragm. We measured the quantity of light and resolving power, and take pictures with it. The purpose of this research is to figure out the characteristics of our hand-made lens and maximize its usefulness. The result showed that (1) quantity of light and resolving power through hand-made lens are distributed constant. (2)Our lens had the characteristics of a soft lens and (3)it had much chromatic abberation. Therefore, we found that the hand-made lens is th acquire visual image such as the effects of a specialized lens.

Digital image capturing technology has been making great progress recently, and we can now simply capture the color image by digital camera, flat-bed scanner of Photo CD system. A lot of professionals are instrested in the capability of Photo CD and other digital images in the printing and publishing industry. But these images were not processed a suitable image processing to use in the hard copy. In this paper we described a method of the digital enhancement processiing to use in the printing and publishing industry. Experimental result show that the described method was useful and valid for the digital image enhancement to use in the hard copy.

Liquid crystal-polymer composite(LCPC) films consisting of a continuous LC phase embedded in a three-dimensional network of polymer matrix are formed by photopolymerization-induced phase separ on. The LCPC films are switched from a light-scattering stats to a highly transparent stats on the application of electric fields. Since the alignment of LC molecular determines the electro-optical properties of films, the requirement for good contrast is to generate the nematic phase at high concentration. On the other hand, the concentration of UV-curable monomer must be increased above some critical value to from the flexible matrix of unbounded polymer. The mixing ratio of LC and UV-curable monomer affects the electro-optical and viscoelastic properties of LCPD films in two opposing ways. By controlling the phase separation process, at an LC fraction of 0.7, the maximum performance of LCPC films has been achieved, the response time of which is 2ms on the application of electric fields.

The PVT(pressure-volume-temperature) relation of main-chain dimer liquid crystals having structures such as ,-bis[(4,4`-cyanobiphenyl) oxy] alkane(CBA-n with=9, 10) were studied. these dimer liquid crystals are known to form an enantiotropic nematic mesophase. In this work, we have determined the volume change as a function of temperature and pressure by using a GNOMIX PVT apparatus. In the V-Tcurves obtaind from isobaris mearements on various pressures, volume changes were observed at the nematic-isotropiz and nematic-crystal phase transitions. The volume changes at the transition exhibit slight odd-even effect with respect to the number of methylene unit n. The values of the (S)v obtained at the NI transition for CBA-9 and -10 were 6.9 and 12.6J/mol k. The valuesof (S)v for the CN transition were estimated on the basis of DSC(differential scanning calorimetry) data: 58.8(CBA-9) and 65.3J/mol k (CBA-10). For both transition, it was found that the correction about the volume change is significant, ranging from 40% to 60% of the total transition entropy observed under constant pressure.

Eastman Kodak Co. has announced the concept of photo CD System in September, 1990 With Photo CD System technology, Kodak Co. Furnishes a convinent way to view, use and store photographic images. The heart of this system is a format provides progressively higher levels of image quality to meet the demands of NTSC, PAL and HDTV video displays as well as hard copy output. Also, image professionals are instrested in the capability of Photo CD, such as a way to store image at low cost in a high-resolution digital format that can be played back on different computer platforms. Many editors wish to use Photo CD images in the printing and publishing industry. However, Photo CD images were not processed detail enhancement and some others to use in the lithographic offset printing. Therefore, in this paper discribes a method to improve the sharpness of Photo CD images.
