The rheological properties of emulsified ink must be maintained adequately at various shear rates or shear stress. So it is necessary to understand its rheological properties in order to regulate the printability of eumulsified ink on the performance. In this study, the rheological properities and printability of emulsified ink are investigated according to the molecular weigths of rosin-modified phenolic resin.

The wood-pulp is treated with the three enzymes; Endo-xylanase, exo-xylanase and acetyl-esterase. The maximum value of relative activity appeared 0.95 in acetyl-esterase at 40℃, 0.9 in exo-xylanase at 40℃, and 0.8 in endo-xylanase at 50℃, respectively. And it has measured 0.8 in endo-xylanase, 0.95 in acetyl-esterase at pH 6 and 0.9 in exo-xylanase at pH 5, while the maximum value of relative activity does not rely on reaction time for three enzymes treatment, and the value was about 0.9, respectively. We have watched that decreased Kappa number and increased brightness. And it turned out that the three enzyme produced a lot of reducing sugar with wood-pulp treatment.

Print-through is one of the most important attributes of print quality and has long been a subject to study. However, some aspects of print through are still in need to be enlighten. In this paper, different kinds of evaluating methods for print through are compared using densitometry, brightness, and image analysis. Printing conditions including ink feed, drying condition, and emulsification rate are systematically changed to effect print-through both on uncoated and coated commercial papers. Also several inks from different makers are introduced and compared in terms of print-through propensity. From the results, densitometry is not a good indicator for print through on the papers in this study. Ink feed has a strong effect on print through, especially for uncoated paper and should be considered in a point of optimum ink feed level in real world. Contribution of faster ink(oil) absorption seems to be more competitive than that of ink(oil) evaporation resulting in severer print-through for hot drying process. It is shown that ink-water emulsification rate increases print through at mild level but easy to decrease it with lower density due to the increase of water contents in emulsion. It is believed that the effect of absorption overwhelms that of density drop at mild emulsification level. This study does not include the effect of ink attributes in detail but shows that distinctive differences in print through may be resulted from various ink-makers and is finalized with some suggestions.

그라비어 인쇄용 Ag Paste의 레오로지 특성에 따른 전도성 패턴의 물성 연구

We have manufactured Ag pastes for gravure printing by adding different solvent contents. Then the gravure printability and properties of conductive patterns gravure-printed by the different rheology characteristics of pastes were investigated. The dispersity of pastes was increased and the viscosity and shear rate dependence of viscosity for pastes were decreased by increasing the solvent content. Also storage modulus G', loss modulus G" and angular frequency value when G" starts to be bigger than G' of pastes were increased by decreasing the solvent content. These mean a flow drop of paste. As a result of gravure printing using two plates which have different line counts(175line and 350line), conductive patterns printed using 175line were spreaded more but Ag packing, thickness and conductivity of the conductive patterns were better than those printed using 350line. And the spread values of conductive patterns were increased with solvent contents but the best properties for Ag packing, surface roughness and conductivity of the conductive pattern were obtained by paste (3) which has 550cps of viscosity at 100s-1 and tan δ > 1 at 10rad/s. As a result of gravure printing using 350 line plate and paste (3), the conductive pattern has 1.2㎛ of film thickness and 1.9×10-5Ω․㎝ of conductivity

In this paper, an experiment was done where the input(scanner, digital still camera) and monitor(CRT, LCD) device used the linear multiple regression and the GOG (Gain-Offset-Gamma) characterization model to perform a color transformation. Also to color conversion method of the digital printer it used the LUT(Look Up Table), 3dimension linear interpolation and a tetrahedron interpolation method. The results are as follows. From color reappearance of digital printing case of monitor, the XYZ which it converts in linear multiple regression of input device it multiplied the inverse matrix, and then it applies the inverse GOG model and after color converting the patch of the result most which showed color difference below 5 at monitor RGB value. Also, The XYZ which is transmitted from the case input device which is a printer it makes at LAB value to convert an extreme, when the LAB value which is converted calculating the CMY with the LUT and tetrahedral interpolations the color conversion which considers the black quantity was more accurate.

Kappa number and brightness were more increased with treatment of endo-xylanase than hydrogen-peroxide. In pulp bleaching process, endo-xylanse was most effective in the other enzyme treatment. Exo-xylanase was effective more than 4 unit treatment. Kappa number was tiny increased with enzyme ratio, but less than 4 unit treatment, increased with hydrogen peroxide treatment ratio. In more than 4 unit acetyl-estease treatment, Kappa number and brightness were not influenced with enzyme treatment ratio, but concentration of hydrogen-peroxide.

We have manufactured a photoresist which has excellent dispersity and good applying property due to 330cps of viscosity for environment-friendly and economical maskless screen plate making. And the photoresist applied on the screen stretched was exposed without mask by beam projector with CRT light source. Then it was developed by air spray with 1.7kgf/㎠ of injection pressure. The pencil hardness and solvent resistance of curing photoresist film were worse than those of conventional photoresist film and the maximum resolution of line image formed by maskless screen plate making was 0.5 ㎜ since the exposure system for maskless plate making has weak light intensity and the diffusion of light. But we could obtain maskless screen plate which has sharp edges of line image and confirm a possibility of dry development process by air spray method.

Paper stock could be situated in a cooled environment seasonally and/or regionally otherwise it is stored in a controlled warehouse. In this paper, printing problems on a cooled paper are investigated and characterized in terms of paper properties. For this purpose, various kinds of sample are cooled down under a specially designed freezing device and printed for observing their printability. Causes for poor ink transfer on a cooled paper are suggested due to condensation, surface inactivity, and rheological change in ink film. Paperboards with higher amount of binder, thick and/or multi-coated layers are more vulnerable to poor ink trap. Severe drying of wet coating could cause a similar result as that of the coatings with higher binder formulation. It is shown that more absorptive porous structure is desirable for better ink receptivity in a cooled status. Printing on a dampened surface may be an indicator for ink transferability on a cooled paper. Finally, desirable directions for papermaker and printshop are suggested.

BLU is a important part of the most representative LCD at flat panel display. In order to supplement the optical special quality which LCD cannot light itself, BLU is an essential property to supply with same brightness on the screen. In this study we have manufactured and characterized the low temperature calcined paste that can be used as a flat light source for LCD BLU. For the phosphor paste and intermediate paste, the low temperature calcined acryl resin was used as the binder. From the result of thermal decomposition measurement, residual carbonaceous materials was found to be less than 0.2wt% at 400℃.

Viscosity of cellulose pulp was greatly decreased with endo-xylanase treatment but tiny decreased with exo-xylanase treatment. Change of freeness was greatly influenced with exo-xylanase treatment. The first stage of refining(5,000 revolution), freeness was greatly decreased with exo-xylanase treatment. After middle stage of refining(10,000 revolution) change of freeness was similar to endo-xylanase treatment. WRV(water retention value) was more effective exo-xylanas than endo-xylanase treatment. Interfiber bonding of cellulose fiber was disintegrated with exo-xylanse treatment.
