Objectives : The aim of this study was to identify the relationship between Organizational Citizenship Behavior (OCB) and quality of service (QoS) on pay satisfaction for employees at small-and medium-sized hospital that adopted an annual salary system. Methods : The subjects were 136 employees working at 2 Small-and Medium-sized Hospitals in Seoul and Daejeon. The data were collected from May 11 to May 22, 2015 using a structured questionnaire. For data analysis, descriptive statistics, Pearson correlation coefficient, t-test, ANOVA and Scheffé test were used with the SPSS 21 package. Results : The mean score for pay satisfaction perceived by the employees at small-and medium-sized Hospitals that adopted an annual salary system was 1.74. The mean score for OCB and QoS was 4.02 and 4.43, respectively. The pay satisfaction perceived by the employees at small-and medium-sized Hospitals that adopted an annual salary system were positively related to the OCB. Pay satisfaction was positively related to the QoS; however, it was not statistically significant. The OCB and QoS showed a significant difference in age, marital status, and education level. Conclusions : Small and Medium sized Hospitals have to develop an efficient pay management system which evaluates the CSFs and KPI of every department or staff member.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate changes in job satisfaction of hospital workers according to different occupations at a university hospital in Seoul. Methods : A survey questionnaire was sent out to people working in a University Hospital in Seoul. Four hundred questionnaires were included in the final analysis. Results : The results of this study are as follows. Sense of accomplishment was a significant job satisfaction factor resulting in a high level of satisfaction. Work environment, compensation and job stability also affected job satisfaction; however, satisfaction levels appeared to be relatively low. Conclusions : When looking at the most important factors among the influencing factors that the members of the organization thought were most important for job satisfaction, the results showed that achievement, work environment, job stability and compensation were important factors.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the factors that affect employee satisfaction according to hospital size, job group and career at hospitals. Methods : Data were collected from 4,307 employees working at 5 university hospitals. Statistics were done with the SPSS program version 21.0. Results : There were significant differences in employee satisfaction according to hospital size, job group and career. Additionally, there were positive correlations between each of the factors for employee satisfaction and overall employee satisfaction. Multiple regression analysis showed that overall employee satisfaction was affected by factors such as job, communication, personnel and leadership according to hospital size, job group and career. Conclusions : The results of this study suggest that by identifying the differences in satisfaction of employees who are working in different circumstances and providing resources to satisfy employee needs, hospital employers can promote the growth of the hospital by reducing employee turnover.

Objectives : This study analyzed the managerial efficiency of hospitals and identified the productivity trends for three years. Methods : Data were collected from 44 tertiary hospitals and 32 university hospitals from 2009 to 2011. Efficiency scores and productivity trends were evaluated with the DEA (Data Envelopment Analysis) method. The input variables were the numbers of beds, doctors, nurses, and health personnel, and the medical costs. The output variables were the numbers of outpatients, and inpatients, and the medical revenues. Along with the traditional input-oriented DEA analysis, the Malmquist Productivity Index(MPI) was calculated. Results : First, the mean values of the study variables showed gradual increases in all the variables for all the study years. Second, technical efficiency scores varied depending on the study year. Third, MPI decreased from 2009 to 2010 (MPI=0.986), and then increased from 2010 to 2011(MPI=1.011). The contributions of the Efficiency Change Index and Technical Change Index on the MPI varied depending on the study year. Conclusions : This study provides information to hospital managers about changes in hospital performances. External environments had more influence on hospital performances, and hospital managers will need to manage these influences from factors surrounding the hospitals.

Objectives : This study has analyzed the relationship between DEA efficiency of costs-patient revenues, productivity per value added and management performance in mental hospitals. Methods : The relationship between DEA efficiency of costs-patient revenues, the productivity per value added and management performance were conducted with correlation analysis and logistic regression. Results : The DEA efficiency of costs-patient revenues had a significant causal relationship with the value added ratio to gross revenue indexing productivity per value added. On the other hand, it was revealed that the operating margin indexing management performance had a slightly significant causal relation with DEA efficiency of costs-patient revenues. Conclusions : The material costs should be focused on the management stability of mental hospitals, and known to the desirable management orientation for the higher efficiency of costs-patient revenues.

Objectives : This study was conducted to verify the influence organizational health has on customer orientation by hospital ownership. Methods : This survey was conducted on a public hospital, private hospital, and religious hospital, respectively, during March 2014 and a total of 210 questionnaires were used in the analysis. ANOVA and regression analysis were used to analyze the collected data. Results : The management environment factor of organizational health was statistically significant in the public hospital compared to the private hospital. The reliability factor of customer organization was statistically significant in the public hospital and religious hospital respectively compared to the private hospital. For reactivity, the religious hospital was statistically significant compared to private hospital. A positive influence was shown in the vitality factor at the public hospital, and community orientation at the private hospital, while both community orientation and career showed effects at the religious hospital. ICU had a negative influence on customer orientation at the private hospital. Conclusions : The reason vitality had a relatively more important effect on customer orientation in the public hospital was due that age group of 20~29 was the dominant socio-demographic factor. Furthermore, the influence of community orientation on customer orientation in the private hospital and religious hospital may be related to the nurses' career.

Objectives : The objective of this study was to examine preceding variables that affect the dual commitment of outsourced employees working at hospitals and to analyze the influence of these variables on job performance. Methods : Data were collected from 461 outsourced employees, working at 7 general hospitals, which had introduced the outsourcing system, using a structured, self-administered questionnaires. Frequency, validity/reliability, correlation and path analyses were done for data analysis. Results : The results of the path analyses showed that both commitment to the hiring company and commitment to the client company (hospital) had statistically significant positive effects on job performance. Additionally, when the 'single measurement' approach was used, dual commitment had a larger positive effect, compared with the 'parallel approach.' Among the preceding variables, 'satisfaction for the job itself' was found to be the most important variable affecting dual commitment and job performance. Conclusions : In conclusion, to enhance the job performance of outsourced employees, it is important for management to examine and improve the various factors related to job satisfaction. Additonally, for outsourced employees to have organizational commitments to the hiring and client companies simultaneously, management should emphasize a sense of unity and share organizational values.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify levels of turnover intention of nurses in long-term care hospitals, and to explore influential factors on turnover intention. Methods : Data were collected with a structured questionnaires from 165 nurses. The data were analyzed with SPSS/WIN 21.0. Results : First, the average score for the practice environment cognition, job satisfaction, reward importance, and turnover intention were 3.14±0.21, 3.18±0.32, 4.02±0.53, and 3.29±0.67, respectively. Second, there were significant differences in the turnover intention according to the average monthly wage, total clinical career, present clinical career, work form, average monthly night shift and turnover experience. Third, the significant predictors of turnover intention were monthly salary, practice environment cognition, reward importance, monthly night shift and type of work explaining 67.0%. of the variance. Conclusions : It is necessary to conduct continuous and systematic research and to find ways that can prevent the resignation of nurses and improve cognition in the practice environment in long-term hospitals nurses.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to understand how work environment and conflict level of dental hygienists affect turnover for the efficive manpower management of dental hygienists. Methods : Dental hygienists in dental (hospital)clinics near Daegu were randomly selected as the subjects of this study, and the followings analysis results are from 249 questionnaires: which were collected from March 2 to March 31 2011. Results : Among the 249 dental hygienists surveyed, 33.7% experienced turnover and 59.0% had turnover intention. From the analysis of the demographic, working environment and levels of conflict, dental hygienists had significantly higher turnover experiences based on following factors: older age, employment at a dental clinic rather than a dental hospital, longer working hours, longer total career as a dental hygienist, and longer of length of time at their current job. Furthermore, dental hygienists had significantly higher turnover intentions based on the following factors: younger age, more ignorant and higher level of discomfort due to conflict levels. Conclusions : Therefore, the working environment of dental hygienists has to be improved to inspire motivation, and conflict management has to be taughht within an organization to allow free communication and active participation in decision-making.

Objectives : This research was performed to investigate the characteristics and determination factors of health care policy satisfaction and welfare recognition for health insurance & health care financing. Methods : The utilized data were 4,174 cases who responded to a welfare recognition survey in the 8th wave of the Korea Welfare Panel Study (2013). The statistical methodology used in this study is the multiple regression model. Results : The significant affecting factors of health care policy satisfaction were age, education, household income, welfare attitudes, and health status. Medical utilization & private medical insurance were not related to health care policy satisfaction. The affecting factors of health insurance reinforcement were age, health status, welfare attitudes. The affecting factors of health care financing expansion were age, economic activity type, medical utilization, welfare attitudes. The affecting factors of welfare attitudes were age, economic activity type, household income, health insurance, and health status. Conclusions : Health care policy satisfaction, health insurance reinforcement, and health care financing expansion were all affected by age and welfare attitude; but this was not the case for private health insurance. This study recommended that the Korean government provide active planning for reinforcement of health insurance and publicity of the health care system in order to accord with the prospects of people.

Objectives : This study is a quasi-experiment with a pre-post design and a nonequivalent control group performed from May 1 to June 2, 2013 to verify the effects of a simulation based education program on nursing students’ self-confidence, and clinical performance ability. Methods : The subjects of the study were a total of 60 students in their fourth year of a nursing program at a university located in G city and they were assigned to an experimental group of 30 students and a control group of 30 students by convenience sampling. Results : After being offered education, self-confidence, and clinical performance ability were significantly more improved than before in each group. In the comparison of the two groups, the self-confidence (t=3.00, p=.004) and clinical performance ability(t=3.14, p=.003) of the experiment group were significantly higher than those of the control group. Conclusions : The results indicated that instructional methods using a simulation-based emergency care program should be adopted maximize the effects of advanced cardiopulmonary life support education.

Objectives : This study identified factors that influenced social nicotine dependence in university students using descriptive methods. Methods : Data were collected 429 university students from 2 universities in B metropolitan city. The analytical methods were the t-test, ANOVA, Scheffe`s test, Pearson`s Correlation Coefficient and multiple regression analysis. Results : There were significant differences in social nicotine dependence according to gender (t=3.359, p=.001), smoking status (t=8.915, p=.000), religion (t=3.841, p=.022), economic status (t=3.632, p=.027) and grade (t=8.466, p=.000). Social nicotine dependence was weakly correlated with anxiety (r=.113, p<.05). Meaningful variables that explain social nicotine dependence were anxiety, self-efficacy self-esteem, female, smokers and no religion. Conclusions : It is necessary to develop a comprehensive smoke-free policy that considers social nicotine dependence to improve the cultural and social awareness of the associated health hazards of smoking, and to develop smoking cessation education and smoking prevention programs that improve the self-efficacy and self-esteem of university students.

Objectives : A survey was conducted to investigate oral health belief and education awareness of oral health of workers in the workplace and to obtain the basic data necessary to promote their oral health and design an oral health education program. Methods : This study conducted a self-administered survey. Results : The following conclusion was made. For oral health beliefs based on the type of work that the workers did, workers in production and technical services had more benefits than those in other fields(security, guard, etc.), and workers on night duty had more oral health hygiene problems than that of regular day-time workers. The longer the period of service was, the more sensitive and serious the workers were and the less beneficial the work was; workers working for eight hours or less had higher levels of importance than those working for ten hours. They were well aware of the need for oral health education but were less aware of the need for an oral health room. Conclusions : It is necessary to emphasize oral health beliefs when developing an oral health education program that promotes oral health for workers in the workplace. If an oral health education program attempts to reflect the concerns of workers in the workplace and provides preferred contents and methods on oral health education, the program is expected to promote the active and positive participation of the workers.

Objectives : This study was did a meta-analysis of emergency room visits decreased effectiveness of self management education interventions in asthma among adult patients with asthma. Methods : A search of the database PubMed resulted in identifying 8,619 studies done between January 1990 and November 2012. STATA version 10.0 was used to analyze the effect size, explore possible causes of heterogeneity, and determine publication bias with a funnel plot. Results : We included 7 cases on emergency room visits decreased effectiveness of self management and education. Asthmatic patients experienced fewer attacks (summary effect size, 0.75; 95% confidence interval [CI], 0.65-0.95). We found that emergency room visits decreased effectiveness of self management and education were associated with statistically significant effects. Conclusions : Based on these finding, self management and education on interventions are necessary to prevent asthmatic attacks in patients and to reduce the severity of the attacks, and self management and education programs are needed in Korea.

Objectives : This study was conducted to examine social factors associated with problematic drinking among middle- and older-aged men in South Korea. Methods : The data were collected from the baseline survey of the Korean Longitudinal Study of Aging, and the sample consisted of 3,631 men between 45 and 64 years of age and 1,173 men aged 65 or older. This study employed variables identifying various socioeconomic features, social ties, and health-related factors. Logistic regressions were used for the data analysis. Results : Middle-aged men having frequent social relationship with close persons were significantly more likely to be problematic drinkers than those having less frequent social relationships with close persons. Lower education, unemployment, smoking, and depression were associated with problematic drinking only among middle-aged men. Conclusions : We suggest that health professionals develop specific intervention strategies that could lead to more moderate alcohol habits and better health in middle aged Korean men who are actively engaged in social networks. In addition, health professionals need to focus more on the unemployed, lower educated, depressed, and smoking groups for early detection of problematic drinking among middle-aged Korean men.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify the effect on cognitive function in elderly people above 65 years of age. Methods : The data were collected from June 1 to August 30 2014. Data were collected by questionnaire from 994 elderly people. The instruments for this study were ADL, IADL, depression, MMSE-DS. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson's correlation coefficients, multiple linear regression with the SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. Results : The significant factors influencing MMSE-DS were education(β=-0.314, p<.001), IADL(β=0.196, p<.001), age(β=-0.168, p<.001), exercise time(β=0.089, p=.004), economic conditions(β=0.086, p=.007), depression( β =-0.084, p=.001), income(β=-0.083, p=.003), sleep time(β=-0.079, p=.001), medical insurance(β=0.059, p=.024) and leisure(β=0.057, p=.039). Conclusions : Based on the study, subjects with cognitive impairment detected at an early stage it is necessary to intervene in consideration of the individual characteristics and to develop and apply the program that improve the living habits such as exercise and sleep, and decreasing depression.

Objectives : The aim of this study is to suggest a direction for sexual education suitable for the aged by analyzing senior citizens' perception level and analyzing the demand for sexual education among the elderly, such as their feelings on the necessity of sexual education and the patterns of sex education. Methods : The population of this survey targeted elderly residents aged over 60 who are taking lectures at 4 university lifelong education centers that are located in Busan. The period of data collection was from May 10, 2013 to May 30, 2013. The methods of analyzing data were frequency analysis, t-test, and correlation analysis. Results : The general characteristic of the survey were that it included 60 men (41.1%) and 86 women(58.9%). As a result of the comparison of sexual perceptions and sexual-education demand according to gender, it was found that men had greater sexual perception and greater need for sexual education than did women. A correlation according to sexual-life perception and sexual-education demand showed a positive relationship and was statistically significant as well. Conclusions : This study will form a basis for formation of a direction for the development of sexual education programs.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze the relationships among social participation, self-rated health status, self-esteem and daily life satisfaction of the elderly with disabilities. It especially focused on the mediating effects of self-rated health status and self-esteem on the relationship between social participation and daily life satisfaction. Methods : From the fifth panel survey of employment for the disabled, data for 518 elderly over age of 65 were analyzed with SPSS 22.0, SmartPLS 2.0 M3 and the Sobel test. Results : First, social participation of the elderly with disabilities had a positive influence on the self-rated health status and self-esteem. The direct effect of self-rated health status and self-esteem on daily life satisfaction was statistically significant. However, the influence of social participation on daily life satisfaction was not statistically significant. Second, the self-rated health status and self-esteem had a mediating effect on the relationship between social participation and daily life satisfaction. Conclusions : This study shows that it is important to provide an integrated social participation support program that coincides with a variety of social programs to elderly with disabilities.

Objectives : This study investigated the general characteristics, child rearing characteristics, and the level of self-differentiation of 120 custodial grandmothers. Methods : Data were collected with a self-administered questionnaire from 120 custodial grandmothers who registered Kinship Network in Busan City. Results : For the self-differentiation measure, the mean score of the sample was 2.52±0.51. However, the level of the fusion with emotion 1.89±0.80 was extremely low partly due to the influence of collectivist culture of Korean society. The levels of emotional reactivity and fusion with emotion were significantly low which were dependent on depression (F=4.387, p=0.015). Conclusions : The findings of this study show the need to improve the level of self-differentiation by increasing the score of emotional reactivity and fusion with the emotion among the kinship network grandmothers. Therefore, supportive programs for kinship network grandmothers need to develop self-differentiation.

Objectives : The aim of this study was to analyze the influence of foreign and institutional investors in the pharmaceutical industry on R&D investments. Methods : The empirical analysis was done for the years 2009 to 2013 which examined the period after the influence of the financial crisis. Financial statements and comments in general and internal transactions were extracted from the TS-2000 of the Korea Listed Company Association. STATA 12.0 was used as the statistical package for the panel analysis. Results : The results show that the shareholding ratio of foreigner investors turned out to have a statistically significant influence on R&D investment. No statistical significance was found in the shareholding ratio of institutional investors. Conclusions : The findings of this study, which indicate that a higher shareholding ratio of foreigner investors leads to greater R&D investment, indicate that foreign investors directly or indirectly impose pressure on a manager to make R&D investments for the long-term.

Objective : The aim of this study was to examine the effects of the Home-based Multi-component Activity Program (Home-MAP) for the maintenance activities of daily living (ADL) for patients with mild Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and on caregiver burden for caregivers. Methods : Nine mild AD patients and family caregivers. The Home-MAP was performed 1d/wk, for a total of 10 times over 10 weeks. Results : After the 10 sessions, participants’ motor and process skills scores on the AMPS were found to have significantly improved (p=.028 and p=.028, respectively). The BPSD frequency score on the R-MBPC was found to be significantly reduced (p=.017). The BPSD symptoms related to caregiver reaction score on the R-MBPC and distress score on the NPI-Q were significantly reduced (p=.039 and p=.018, respectively). Conclusions : The Home-MAP appears to have contributed to the improvement of patients’ capabilities in performing in ADL, to a reduction of BPSD, and to a reduction of burden related to BPSD.

Objectives : In this study, we were to investigated the recognition of the hospital services by college students with variable majors. Methods : In survey questionnaire included were 9 general questions, 18 items recognition of hospital services in questionnaire. For the statistical analysis of this study, we were used the IBM SPSS 21.0; t-test, ANOVA and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results : (1) The general characteristics of perception was as follows; recognition of hospital services in accordance with grade showed significant differences.(F=2.638, p<0.05) (2) Effect of the recognition was analyzed from the general characteristics; F value is 2.638(p<0.05) and 3.678(p<0.01) as shown; the regression model showed a significant expression. Conclusions : In this study, we observed the perception of the hospital service by college students. As a result, we could not see a statistically significant difference. These results can be interpreted as a show the direction of health education in the future.
