Objectives: This study explored the mediating effect of occupational stress between work-life balance and Professional Quality of Life (ProQOL) among nurses in local hospitals. Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted through surveying hospital nurses (N=208). The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, analysis of variance, Pearson correlation coefficient analysis, and a three step regression analysis using Baron and Kenny’s method for mediation. Results: Mean scores were 2.89±0.64, 2.96±0.49 and 2.58±0.59 for compassion satisfaction, burnout and secondary traumatic stress, respectively. Occupational stress had a partial mediating effect between work-life balance and compassion satisfaction as well as an explanatory power of 21.9%. Occupational stress had a partial mediating effect between work-life balance and burnout as well as an explanatory power of 52.8%. Conclusions: To improve nurses’ professional quality of life in local hospitals, intervention strategies for reducing occupational stress and promoting work-life balance should be considered.

Objectives: This study was conducted to evaluate the effectiveness of the Standard Precaution (SP) guidelines education program developed and applied based on the health belief model (HBM). Methods: The data was collected through self-report questionnaires and direct observations of 74 nurses working at a general hospital in G city. The collected data were analyzed using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: There was no statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in the knowledge score after applying the intervention based on HBM (t=1.34, p=.184). However, there was a statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in health belief (t=9.02, p<.001) and performance (t=10.00, p<.001). Conclusions: This study applied an educational program emphasizing the importance and benefits of implementing the SP guidelines for nurses who need help in determining the priority or context of clinical situations. Through this intervention, it was possible to improve the performance of SP guidelines by improving the health beliefs of nurses.

Objectives: This study aimed to examine the relationship between individual, social and physical environments and walking behavior of adults in rural communities. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a convenient sample of 1,529 adults aged 20-64 years from 38 rural areas (eup or myeon) in Chungbuk province in South Korea. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, χ ²-test, t-test, and logistic regression analysis using the SPSS 25.0 program. Results: Logistic regression analysis shows that individual factors associated with walking activities of adults in rural communities were age, household monthly income, and self-efficacy for physical activities. Social environmental factors were social support for physical activities and safety level of the neighborhood. Finally, physical environmental factors were attractive environment for walking and availability of exercise facilities. Conclusions: The findings suggest that indivisuals could be motivated to walk more by providing a social and physical environment that is favorable for walking. Thus, the influence of environmental factors such as safety and scenic beauty, among others, should be considered when developing interventions to encourage more walking in rural adults.

Methods: The data for the four years were generated based on the actual number of people per person for each year, and a total of 481,252 senior citizens aged 65 and 21,772 exceeded the upper limit of copayment. Results: In 2014-2015, the older the population, the higher the total cost of medical treatment, giving benefits to the older people. The significant factors influencing the total medical expenses of the elderly over 65 years were age, income group, region, serious illness, the presence of disability, total hospitalization days, total outpatient visits, and classification of disease. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of Resilience on the Relationship between Depression and Ego-Integrity in Community-Dwelling Elderly Women. Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a convenient sampling method with data collected from a sample of 144 elderly women. The structured questionnaire included items to assess depression, ego-integrity, and resilience among elderly women. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and hierarchical multiple regression analysis using the SPSS 24.0 program. Mediation analysis was performed according to the Sobel test. Results: The results show that depression had a direct effect on ego-integrity and was also partially mediated by resilience. Conclusions: The findings suggest that resilience may play a role in decreasing the effect of depression on ego-integrity. Objectives: To analyze the influence of the Self-Rated Health Level of adolescents and uses it as a policy material that can improve the subjective health status of adolescents in the future. Methods: Frequency analysis, cross-tabulation, and multiple regression analysis were conducted to examine the factors affecting adolescents’ self-rated health level. Results: A total of 70.9% of adolescents recognized that their subjective health was good. For male students, academic achievement, family economic status, sleep fulfillment, physical activity, high intensity physical activity, and strength training activity were influential factors. Female students were influenced by type of school, academic achievement, family economic status, drinking, smoking, consumption of breakfast, sleep fulfillment, and high intensity physical activity. Conclusions: The impact on subjective health based on youth health behavior and physical activity is significant. Therefore, it is necessary to formulate a policy and school health program to eliminate youth health inequality.
