The purpose of this paper was to evaluate performance of information system for one national university hospital in order to identify the factors influencing performance of information system. KPIs were collected for 181 users of information system (41 doctors, 104 nurses, and 11 medical supporting staffs, and 25 administrative staffs) from August 10 to 24, 2010. The results were as follows: Average performance score for input layer was 3.16; average performance score for process layer was 3.35; and average performance score for business layer was 3.57. Scores for input layer was lowest for nurses and scores for process and business layer were lowest for doctors. Results from the path analysis showed that system quality, demographic characteristics, and security significantly influenced management process but these factors except demographic characteristics influenced user satisfaction; and management process also significantly influenced user satisfaction.

Whether organizational members are satisfied with their job or not is most important in the organization that they belong to. Those who are more satisfied with their job have a less intention to get another occupation, and they are better motivated to improve their own job performance. Boosting job satisfaction is one of the sure ways to reduce invisible loss triggered by turnover or nonattendance and to enhance the quality of life of organizational members. Therefore the job satisfaction of organizational members should be raised to cut down on their turnover rate. The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship of the general characteristics of nurses to their job satisfaction and turnover intention in a bid to identify factors affecting their job satisfaction and turnover intention. The major findings of the study were as follows: First, as for job satisfaction and turnover intention, the nurses investigated got a mean of 2.92 and 3.13 respectively on overall job satisfaction and turnover intention out of five points. Their job satisfaction was slightly above the average (2.5), which indicated that they weren't gratified with their job. Their turnover intention was a little above the average as well, which implied Their turnover intention was a little above the average as well, which implied that there was a tendency for them to seek another job.

The objectives of this study were first to inspect the background information of an incentive pay system in hospitals, which provide specialized services for the public, the current status of hospitals with the system, as well as effects produced by introducing it, and then to come up with measures to invigorate the system. According to the findings of a survey, a total of 123 out of 150 hospitals responded that they applied the system to their HR management, some fully or some partially, which accounts for 82.0 percent. This study suggested that the following strategies to invigorate the incentive pay system: having a clear objective when adopting the system; concerted performance targets; practical yet worth challenging business objectives; transparent information disclosure; and establishing a confidence-building system between labor and management. Mutual trust between labor and capital should be a key factor for the successful implementation of the incentive pay system.

The purpose of this study is ultimately to contribute to enhancing quality of patients' life, by grasping quality level of care-giving service that is recognized by inpatients of long-term care hospital, and by pursuing a plan for improving quality of care-giving service based on this. For this, targeting 500 patients who entered 40 long-term care hospitals in Daejeon Metropolitan City, the quality of service was multi-dimensionally grasped by using SERVQUAL scale. As a result of research, the quality of care-giving service, which is recognized by patients as survey subjects, tended to be relatively high with about 4 points as a whole out of 5-point perfection. By item, reliability was indicated to be the highest with 4.56 points. The next was surveyed to be in order of tangibility, empathy, responsiveness, and assurance.

This study purposed to analyze the preference of names in Korean hospitals. Names were analyzed in terms of hospital's characteristics such as hospital type, location, ownership. Also, multivariate regression analysis was applied to assess how the amount of information measured from their names was varied by the hospitals’ internal characteristics. Yearbook of Korean Hospital Association in 2008 was used to collect the study data. The full name of hospitals was divided into meaningful words to investigate the preferred words. The amount of information in hospital names was measured based on the number of words extracted. The study results showed that hospitals preferred different words depending on their characteristics. The amount of information contained in hospital names tends to decrease between before and after year 2000. Korean hospitals increased the uses of Hangeul and foreign words for their names in recent years. These changes were considered as the responses of Korean hospitals to increase competitive advantages by establishing unique brand power.

The study intends to conduct an analysis of relations between efficiency of investment to human resources and the operating margin in hospitals. The analyzed results are as follows: First, it is found out that an index related to labor productivity(the monthly value added per bed, the value added ratio to gross revenue), and an index for efficiency of human resources(value added to personnel expenses), do not have a significant difference by years. Second, labor productivity, indicating the efficiency of human resources, does not have a significant difference between regions and between hospital types. But there is a significant difference according to types of establishment: private hospitals have higher labor productivity(efficiency of human resources) than corporate hospitals. The hospital size is small have significantly higher labor productivity. As a result of a follow-up check, it is found out that there is separation between a group with more than 200 beds and a group with less than 200 beds. Third, at the relations between the indices related to value-added productivity and the operating margin that the higher the value added ratio to gross revenue and the higher labor productivity, the higher the operating margin. Especially, labor productivity(value added to personnel expenses), an index for the efficiency of human resources, out of all the indices related value added productivity, has the most significant influence on the operating margin.

The aim of the research is to figure out how the perception and the attitude of hospital staff have effect on cost management behavior, to check the mediation effect in the relationship between cost attitude and cost management behavior, and to provide some basic data of efficient cost management means for hospital staff. The major results of research can be summed up as following. Subordinate factors of cost perception such as conviction, information, and thought were all revealed as meaningful effect ones on cost attitude, but they didn't have meaningful effect on cost management behavior. However, if we check the final results of direct effect, indirect effect, and total effect in its variants, we can understand that cost perception have indirect effect on cost management behavior via cost attitude. Cost attitude was revealed as the greatest variant having direct effect on cost management behavior. As a conclusion, it seems that the correct cost perception can make positive cost attitude, by which desirable cost management behavior can be induced. Therefore, as the correct cost perception can make positive attitude, it is necessary to construct effective system to provide useful cost information for staff at anytime and at any place continually on organization aspect. It is important to get correct cost perception for the positive attitude of staff. Nevertheless, if the positive attitude would not be formed, it is necessary to search for the ways for personal motivation, for the management behavior cannot emerge positively.

This study was designed to identify organizational commitment and influencing factors in clinical nurses. A cross-sectional design was conducted with a sample of 322 clinical nurses randomly selected from university hospital in Korea. The tools used for this study were scales measuring organizational commitment(15 items), job satisfaction(41 items). The data were analyzed using SPSS 12.0 employing pearson correlation coefficients and multiple regression analysis. The mean score for organizational commitment in clinical nurses was 3.77 points. Factors influencing organizational commitment in clinical nurses were identified as job satisfaction(β=.388), belief presence level(β=.206). These factors explained 13.4% of organizational commitment reported by clinical nurses. The results indicate which factors are major factors influencing organizational commitment in clinical nurses. Therefore, these factors may serve as predictors of organizational commitment in clinical nurses.

The research tris to provide some basic data for the efficient method of human resources management and the efficiency of hospital organization by drawing how servant leadership of physical therapists has impact on job satisfaction and organizational commitment. As a measuring device the method of self-fill-in questionnaire survey was utilized and the correlation and regression analysis was practiced on demographic property, the relationships of 11 kinds of variables between servant leadership and organizational commitment. Job satisfaction was concerned with internal motivation, autonomy, hearing, altruistic vocation, community sense, sympathy formation, vision in the positive order, while organizational commitment was concerned with internal motivation, altruistic vocation, vision, autonomy, community sense, hearing, and sympathy formation is the positive order. Supervisors of physical therapists should try to strive to fulfill the demands of therapists in their position, suggest the vision and objectives to them, and enhance their community sense. As a result, supervisors of physical therapists can enhance job satisfaction and organizational commitment in the position of their employees.

In this study investigated what buyers want and expect from medical equipment industry. In this study we found as fellows, (a) The quality of instrument is the most important factors that lead to customer purchase intent and brand image follwed by reliability and efficiency in order; (b) Customers perception of company did not show any meaningful relationship with brand image suggesting company positive image perceived by the customers would not necessarily have a positive impact on brand image. Rather, if brand image customer perceived gets higher, considerably higher purchase intention was observed. Therefore, the findings from the present study suggest that medical instrument manufactures need to focus more on providing a long-term high quality of service marketing strategy to increase customer satisfaction and purchase intent in this competitive business environment.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the influence of external environment, organizational characteristics on informatization level in hospital settings, and to provide suggestions to improve the informatizaiton level of strategic information system of hospitals. In order to achieve study purpose, causal model was developed and empirically tested. Data were collected from 716 managers of 89 hospitals keeping information system in Busan and KyungNam Province using self-administered structured questionnaire. Major results of this study were as follows; First, among hospitals which had information training programs, informatization capacity was significantly higher. Moreover, informatization capacity was significantly varied by ownership type, institutional level, and number of beds of hospitals. Second, environmental uncertainty, intra-industry competition intensity, decision-making concentration, work standardization variables and perceived benefits were found to be significant affecting factors on informatization capacity as a result of path analysis. Third, support of top-management and perceived benefits were found to be significant affecting factors on informatization capability as a result of path analysis. Especially, informatization capability was positively affected by informatization capacity. Finally, perceived benefits was found to be significant affecting factors on informatization competency as a result of path analysis. Especially, informatization competency was positively affected by informatization capability.

This study compares the degree of satisfaction and the causes of selecting facilities for stroke patients in the senior specialized hospitals and other senior care facilities. The research results are followed. First, The patients who held the level of senior long-term care used senior specialized hospitals, while the patients who had the level of 2 or 3 degree used senior care facilities. The patients helped by cooperative care service used senior care facilities, and the patients helped by private service or family service used senior specialized hospitals. Second, The patients in senior specialized hospitals had affirmative attitude for their service system, while the patients in senior care facilities preferred their various service systems. In the satisfaction of the facilities, the patients in senior care facilities felt more satisfaction to staff, environment, service, and other factors than the patients in hospitals did. Third, in the result of logistic analysis, the patients had an affirmative attitude in case that they had spouse, experience of senior specialized hospitals or senior care facilities, without senior long-term care insurance. They also valued the service standard and the staff quality. As this study points out, the overall preference is higher in the senior care facilities. So, the stroke patients recognized the new role between the hospitals and the facilities after the establishment of long-term senior medicare system. This research had some limitation for the research areas and numbers. So the data analysis for the types of facility and the responses may not be generalized. However, the standard of choosing facility and satisfaction will be a guideline for establishing a new future role between hospitals and facilities. This result will be used as a basic data for the renovation of long-term senior medicare insurance.

This study aims at providing basic data on brain death by analyzing factors of influencing toward attitude to brain death subject to citizens of Busan City. The data was collected for 47 days from 14 July to 31 August, 2009. Among a total of 2200 cases of the questionaries, only 2042 cases were used. For data analysis, SPSS 17.0 was used, and for the specific analysis method frequency analysis to understand general characteristics of the participants. In addition, examination on T-test and ANOVA analysis were conducted after analyzing the factors for participants' consciousness on brain death, and logistic regression analysis for understanding of relations between participants' will to brain death and general characteristics. The results of this study are summarized as follows; First, attitudes towards brain death according to general characteristics was high in those with will to donate their organs than those without in the attitude factors, namely, death recognition, acceptive, exclusive and religious attitude factors. Second, significant variables for effects of attitudes towards brain death were gender, patients or their family's chronic or incurable diseases, religion, occupation and death recognition, acceptive, and exclusive attitude factors.
