The purpose of this study is to identify the effects of emergency medical technicians' personal traits and job characteristics on job/social stress, job satisfaction, role conflicts, organizational commitment, and self-efficacy. The study population was emergency medical technicians who is working at the hospitals in Yeungnam province. The 200 questionnaires were administered by using ground mail, e-mail, and personal visits and 156 questionnaires were returned(82.5% response rate). Social stress, job satisfaction and role conflicts were significantly determined by personal traits and job characteristic variables. However, job stress, organizational commitment and self-efficacy was only significantly determined by job characteristic variables. In social stress and role conflicts, the subjects with challenge, sociability, acceptance and prudence traits were tend to be significantly higher scores compared to the stability traits. Additionally, among social stress regression models, adding job characteristics to the personal traits model, R² was increased up to 19% and adding personal traits to the job characteristics model, R² was increased up to 14%. In conclusion, the study found that personal traits and job characteristics are important variables in explaining social stress, job satisfaction and role conflicts, that would have important managerial implications for recruiting, hiring and managing either new or current emergency medical technicians efficiently.

This study aimed to identify the effects of contents, to find out the development approaches of promotion and contribute to increase the expectation on medical institutions and wills to use and improve the customer satisfaction on homepages of such medical institutions by analysis on the contents of hospital homepage. This research performed the frequency analysis, cross analysis, t-test correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis and came to the conclusion. In accordance with the research results, since the university hospital homepages had more contents than the homepage of general hospitals and national and public hospitals, the university hospital homepage provided sufficient information to visitors and tried to satisfy the customers and activate the hospital promotion using the homepage contents. On the contrary, the homepage of general hospitals and national and public hospitals had insufficient contents and unique and differentiated contents were not sufficiently provided. On the basis of the results of this study, further study on the approaches to improve the contents of homepage of general hospitals and national and public hospitals will be of great help to activate the hospital promotion by increasing the average number of visitors and page views. Furthermore, it is required to make every endeavor for systematic management and operation and research on promotion using the homepage contents.

독거노인과 부부노인의 우울감 및 자살생각 경험

The aim of this study was to examine the spouse effects on depressive symptom and suicidal thinking among the elderly aged 65 and over in Korea. The subjects selected from the database of the Fourth Korea National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey(KNHANES IV) conducted by Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from 2007 to 2009. Those who were female, older, lower educated, or poorer were more likely to live alone than their counterparts respectively. The elderly living alone experienced depressive symptom as 2.0 times(OR=2.004, 95% CI=1.433, 2.803) as, and suicidal thinking as 1.6 times(OR=1.567, 95% CI=1.111, 2.211) as the elderly couples did, adjusting for socio-economic factor, health status factors, and health behaviors factors. As for the male subgroup, the elderly living alone experienced depressive symptom as 4.0 times(OR=3.997, 95% CI=2.066, 7.732) as, and suicidal thinking as 3.2 times(OR=3.181, 95% CI=1.535, 6.592) as the elderly couples did. On the other hands, there was no significant difference in depressive symptoms and suicidal thinking between the female elderly living alone and couples. The authors suggested policy interventions to promote the mental health of the male elderly living alone.

Main purpose of this study is to provide some managerial suggestions for local small and medium-sized hospitals that are in poorer business environment than large hospitals such as university hospitals, in managing the manpower efficiently, improving business performance and enhancing competitiveness, by empirically investigating the relationship among competency, organizational structure and business performance. Major results are as follows: First, regression analysis for the effects of hospital competency on nonfinancial performance revealed that marketing competency, intangible resource competency and financial resource competency, in that order of importance, had significant influence on nonfinancial performance. Second, regarding the analysis of the effects of hospital competency on financial performance, financial resource competency, marketing competency and intangible resource competency, in that order of importance, significantly affected financial performance. Third, as for the moderating effect, significant result was obtained in an interaction between hospital competency and organizational structure. Financial resource competency had a positive significant impact on nonfinancial performance. However, it had negative significant impact on it by interactive effect with organizational structure.

The main purpose of this research is to gain full understanding of how well people are aware and prepared for after retirement. To reach the goal to learn more about the upcoming aging society, professionals from variety of medical fields were employed as subjects to this research. In order to get a detailed result, and to provide an ideal suggestion, the research was conducted with 406 professional workers from 31 different medical institutions as its subjects. Obtained results were summarized as follows. First, in terms of government policies in the field, the idea of long term recuperation insurance gained more support than the belief that the public annuity is a sufficient economic countermeasure. Second, there is a causal relation between the economical preparation for retirement and the reason why people do not prepare for their after retirement. The more one feel short of money, the more one is obtuse towards the necessity of preparing for retirement, the more ignorant one is about preparing for retirement, the higher the chance that there will be no preparation done for his/her after retirement.

This study analyzed the trend of relationship between hospital departments. Hospitals directory issued by Korean Hospital Association in 2009 was used to collect the study sample data. The study sample used 188 hospitals established during the four years from 2005 to 2008, and bed size, establishment year was identified in the directory. Population variable in 2009 was taken from the website of Statistics Korea. SAS 9.2 was used for the statistical analysis. In regression analysis, year of establishment (2008) was statistically significant in explaining the number of hospital departments. Hospitals established in 2008 showed significant positive number of department than other years. Study hospitals showed increasing number of hospital departments during four years. Further study will be needed to analyze the effects of hospital departments on their performances.

The purpose of this study was to identify factors that have impact on taking care of dementia elderly people by careworkers. 212 careworkers participated in the survey. The data was analyzed by SPSS/WIN 18.0 program. The mean score of knowledge of dementia was 16.19, and attitude was 34.42, and the level of care performance for elders with dementia was 102.18. It was shown that the more positive attitude the careworkers had, the higher level of care performance occurred (r=.41, p<.001). As a result of analyzing the main factors affecting the level of care performance for dementia elderly people, attitude toward dementia(β=.41, p<.001) and the level of education(β=.27, p<.001) appeared to be significant explanatory variables, and this model's explanatory power was 27%. To settle a long-term care insurance successfully, the qualifications for careworkers are needed to be reinforced, and the ways to improve a positive attitude towards dementia elderly are also required to be come up with.

The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of introductory clinical practice education program for nursing students. The nursing students of 94 participated the introductory education program of 80 hours. The questionnaire survey on self efficacy and clinical competency were conducted 3 times(before education, after education, 2 months after education) to the nursing students. The data were analyzed by the SPSS 17.0 program. The results were as follows; The self efficacy and the clinical competency score showed a significant change in the posttest. Self efficacy and clinical competency have significant relationships with college life satisfaction, interpersonal relationship and academic aptitude satisfaction. Also, self efficacy has significant relationship with clinical competency and clinical practice satisfaction. As a result, the introductory clinical practice education program can be helpful to adjustment for nursing students before clinical practice.

This study was described and analyzed health care system in Lao Cai, Vietnam. We analyze organization and delivery of health care system, health care resources, heath care facilities, heath care finances, and health index in Lao Cai, Vietnam. Lao Cai Province is a mountainous region located on the Chinese border in North-West Vietnam, with numerous ethnic minority groups. Health care organization and delivery system in Lao Cai Province is well formed Province- District-Commune level with Vietnam Government's Socialism. However, health care personnels are concentrated in the major city and is lacking in commune level. Lao Cai province has only two general hospital and is lacking number of beds. Lao Cai province's health care sector is insufficient financial support because the primary goal of the Vietnam government is economic development. Ethnic minority groups in Lao Cai have a dual burden of disease and health. To solve this problem, it is dispatched health care personnel to the commune level taking advantage of the well health care organization and delivery system in Lao Cai. It is also necessary to modernize hospital and improve number of bed. In conclusion, it will be improved the quality of life of residents and be able to achieve fairness among district through the enhancement of the health care system in Lao Cai province.

The purpose of this study is to investigate of welfare as employer’s voluntary benefits and services in hospital on organizational effectiveness. This study was measured attitudes towards welfare and behavioral intentions and their relationship to welfare satisfaction, job satisfaction, turnover intention among employees. Attitudes towards welfare in hospitals and behavioral intentions were assessed using a sample of 163 employees who work in 4 hospitals in Seoul, Kyunggi, Daejeon. Data were collected by self-administered questionnaires from June 1 to 29 in 2012 and analyzed SPSS 18 by using correlation analysis, regression and SEM(structural equation modeling). The results of this study indicate that welfare satisfaction was positively related to job satisfaction, but negatively to turnover intention. Based on these findings, it can be defined that welfare satisfaction strongly influences job satisfaction, turnover intention among employees. The implications of this study are discussed and areas for future research are presented.

The purpose of this study was to investigate current status of 19 general hospitals which performed the hospital social responsibility (HSR) to global health issues. The survey focused on the global healthcare supporting system & activity (including the administration, information, materials, finance, and human resources, et al.), and the government's policy in Korea. Based on the analysis of survey data, the main global health issues of general hospitals were activities of overseas volunteers (56%) and aids of the developing countries (19%). Also, general hospitals have mainly supported into eastern Asia (49%). And then, the most important goal of general hospitals related these activities kept the founding principle of a hospital for global health issues (53%). The second ranking was the social responsibility (32%) and the interchange between Korean and foreign hospitals (32%). There were many differences between general hospitals about the global healthcare supporting system & activities for HSR to global health issues. In conclusion, we suggest that most of general hospitals in Korea would be gotten prior setting the global issues for unmet-need of the developing countries around the world in the near future. This study also served as the effective way by partnership on global health issues of general hospitals for recognizing the HSR as hospital governance.

치과위생사에 관한 일부 의료종사자의 인지도 조사

This study involved an investigation of perception of dental hygienists based on a self-reported survey of a sample of 230health care personnel working at long-term care hospitals located in Gyeonggi Province, Korea. The primary objective was to provide basic data for establishing various policies related to building up a positive image of dental hygienists as a profession. The results were as follows. 79.1% of the respondents recognized dental hygienists as a profession. Among the titles for a dental hygienist, "teacher" was the most common with 47.4% of all. Female respondents and respondents who were able to discern between dental hygienists and nursing assistants were more likely to perceive dental hygienists positively than male respondents and ones who were not, respectively. Among social perceptions of dental hygienists was there a negative finding, that is, there was no appropriate title to address dental hygienists. This negative finding indicates that there is a vital need to enhance the perception of who are dental hygienists as a professionals level at the individual as well as institutional level.

The purpose of this study is to analyze the effects of job stress on job attitude among nurse practitioners, determine moderating effects of perceived organizational support in this process, and provide preliminary data to devise a scheme for managing job attitude effectively in nursing manpower. The research model was composed of 7 sub-variables of job stress, which was a independent variable; job attitude, which was a dependent variable, was divided into job satisfaction and organizational commitment; and variables of moderating effects included perceived organizational support. The data for empirical analysis of the model were collected from 300 nurses working in one university hospital and two general hospitals in Busan by using structured self- administered questionnaires. The main results of empirical analysis were as follows: Perceived organizational support was effective in preventing job stress from worsening job attitude. Moderating effects of perceived organizational support were found to exist in relations between job stress and organizational commitment. These results imply that a sense of organizational support has both direct and moderating effects on job attitude and can be a good means of managing job attitude.

거주형태에 따른 여고생들의 스트레스, 신체화, 분노 및 학교적응

The purpose of this study was to examine the level of stress, somatization, anger, adjustment to school according to the types of housing. This study employed a descriptive design. Data was collected from 552 students in a girls high school in gongju using structured instruments. Not to be influenced by the tension of new school year or the stress by taking tests, the researcher did the survey after students finishing midterm test of the first semester for two days from July 14 to 15. The results are as follows. There was no difference in the level of stress, anger, adjustment to school between the students living in a dormitory and the students not living in a dormitory. However there was remarkable difference in somatization. There was positive correlation between somatization and stress(r=.194, p=.011), between anger and stress(r=.463, p<.001), in contrast there was a negative correlation between adjustment to school and stress(r=-.174, p<.001) of students living in a dormitory. On the other hand, there was negative correlation stress(r=-.187, p<.001), somatization(r=-.252, p<.001), anger(r=-.230, p<.001) with adjustment to school of students not living in a dormitory. In the sub-factors of somatization, students who live in a dormitory have many kinds of somatizations of digestive or respiratory organs. A Health promotion program should be designed for girls high school students living in a dormitory, based on the level of somatization of digestive or respiratory organs.

대학생의 출산의도에 영향을 미치는 가족가치관 연구

There's an opinion that it may be a combination of change of values and socialㆍeconomic factors that caused low fertility of Korean society. This study intends to analyze actual conditions of familyㆍ children values and gender role centered on university students in a marriageable age so draw a policy implication for overcoming low fertility. Main findings of this study are like following. First, as for analysis of childbirth intention shows average score of 3.35±1.142 presented sex distinction that men have a higher tendency to women. Second, in gender role attitudes, it shows that gender role related on women's social activities(2.06±0.739), traditional gender role in family(2.41±0.789) influence on childbirth intention (p<0.001). Third, in familyㆍchildren values indicates moderate scores(2.95±0.648) that son's position in family (2.33±0.911), relation between children and parents(2.80± 1.050), individual's position in family(3.56±0.671) influence on childbirth intention(p<0.000) in the traditional values. Measures against low fertility will prove effective when family values are established favorable to marriage, childbirth, rearing, gender equality is settled in a society as a whole and related systems. The purpose of this study was to provide the effective pain management care for post operative patients through understanding patient's knowledge and attitude about pain- management. The data was collected by distributing structured questionnaires to 200 inpatients in 2 secondary hospitals located in Ulsan, beginning June 28, 2010 to August 11, 2010, and analyzed by t-test, ANOVA, Pearson correlation coefficient. The level of Knowledge about pain management postperations was 6.44 ±2.03. The level of attitude about pain management postperations was 6.92±1.78. The significant differences were founded within the inpatient's knowledge about pain management according to the inpatient's demographic data:Age(F=5.55, p=.01), Marital status(t=-2.17, p=.03). The significant differences were founded within the inpatient's attitude about pain management according to the inpatient's demographic data:Job(F=3.45, p=.03). Developing educational material and guidebooks is needed to form more positive about pain-control after operations. This study researched only inpatient's knowledge and attitude about pain-management, but researching nurses, doctors, inpatients and family member's knowledge and attitude should be included in following studies.

한국 의료 및 측정기기산업의 투자파급효과 분석

In these days, the interest on medical industry is increasing around the world. This paper attempts to estimate the economic effects of the medical and measuring instrument industry through the Input-Output Analysis. Especially, 78*78 Sector Tables were used as the first analysis tool. So then, 79*79 Sector Tables adjusted were used for that industry. The main analysis tools of this study are comparing and analyzing backward and forward linkage effect, the induced effect of the self industry and other industries and the induced coefficients such as products, value-added, employee's pay, sales surplus, employment. According to the result of analysis, the medical and measuring instrument industry has great economic impacts which affects the major macroeconomic factors such as production and backward linkage effect. And the induced effects of the self medical and measuring instrument industry are significant compared to other industries in aspects of production, employee's pay and sales surplus.
