Objectives: The purpose of this study was to provide hospital management diagnosis status and basic data required for the future development of hospital management diagnosis program. Methods: We conducted a questionnaire survey on administrative staff of manager level or over of medical institutions in B metropolitan city. Results: As a result of analyzing the relative influence of the needs by hospital management diagnosis indicator, the effect of financial analysis indicator, patient treatment record indicator and medical revenues indicator were high in the medical institutions with number of beds of 100 beds or over and general hospital level or over both on a hospital level and on an individual level. Conclusions: Since the existing laws or systems are centered on large major hospitals, the management environment is very unfavorable for small and medium hospitals as can be seen from the results of this study. Therefore, the government should improve the transparency and rationality of the hospital management environment in Korea through regulation and system reforms that can be applied to all medical institutions.

Objectives: To investigate whether medical institutions can prevent accidents by analyzing the root cause of a medical accident and identifying the tendencies. Methods: A total of 345 medical cases were used for the RCA(Root Cause Analysis). The root causes were classified using the SHELL model. The suitability of the model was confirmed by SPSS's MDPREF and Euclidean distance. An SPSS20.0 hierarchical regression analysis was used as an influencing factor on the degree of injury resulting from medical accidents. Results: The SHELL model was suitable for classification. The rates of accident causes were LS49%, L34%, LL10.2%, LE3.7%, LH2.3%. The order in which the degree of a patient’s injury was affected were: Risk Threshold (ꞵ=.180), Time (ꞵ=.175), Surgical stage (ꞵ=-.166), Do not use procedure (ꞵ=.147). Conclusions: Health care institutions should remove priorities through system improvement and training. For patients’ safety, the five factors of the SHELL model should be managed in harmony.

Objectives: This study aimed to identify the relationship between thoughts and psychological anxiety about nuclear power among Busan residents. Methods: Convenience sampling was used for this cross-sectional survey conducted from February 13 to 14, 2016. A total of 520 residents participated in the study and completed a self-administered questionnaire. Results: We found a significant association between negative thoughts and psychological anxiety about nuclear power. People older than 60 years (odds ratio (OR) 2.53, 95% confidence interval (CI) 1.41-4.54), who feared the possibility of radiation accidents (OR 1.75, 95% CI 1.17-2.62), considered nuclear power plants unsafe (OR 1.94, 95% CI 1.10-3.40), and believed the Gori nuclear power plant in Busan must be shut down (OR 1.84, 95% CI 1.22-2.79), had the highest anxiety about radiation exposure. Conclusions: The authors suggest the need for the formulation of a policy to provide people with precise information on nuclear power to increase their understanding and help eliminate unfounded negative thoughts. Objectives: The purpose of this study was to identify differences in characteristics of the people who frequently drink alone between those in old-city regions and those in other regions in Busan, focusing on socio-demographic factors and the level of drinking according to the types of stress. Methods: The analysis confirmed the differences based on Busan Social Statistics Data in 2012, 2014, and 2016. Frequencies by each variable were presented, and χ2 and logistic regression analysis were also used in the analysis. Results: The residents of Busan showed higher odds ratios of “frequent drinking alone” when they felt considerably higher-than-normal levels of stress. In addition, in the residents of old-city regions, the odds ratios of those who frequently drank alone were not different between people who could easily relieve stress, who experienced economic stress, or who had relationship stress and people who did not. However, higher odds ratios of frequently drinking alone were reported when such participants felt some stress related to work, family, relationships, and so on. Conclusions: Interventions for the appropriate relief of stress caused by different reasons, as well as other stress-relieving methods, should be implemented for the people’s benefits.

Objectives: With the rapidly increasing incidence of cancer worldwide, it has become important for health care professionals to both provide care for cancer patients and to address the challenges faced by family caregivers of cancer patients. This study aims to identify the factors affecting depression among cancer patients’ family caregivers. The results of this study suggest the need to propose programs for family caregivers as well as cancer patients. Methods: Participants were 219 caregivers who were informed of the study purpose and agreed to participate. Data were analyzed using t-tests, one-way ANOVA, Scheffe’s test, Pearson correlation coefficients, and multiple stepwise regression with the SPSS/WIN 25.0 program. Results: The mean score for depression among cancer patients’ family caregivers was 1.57±.40 (range: 0–3). Depression was significantly different based on age, relationship with the patient, education, occupation, cancer recurrence, care days per week, financial burden, site of cancer, and health status. Analysis using multiple regression showed that model 1 showed 16% of the factors predicting depression among cancer patients’ family caregivers (F=6.16, p<.001) including occupation, recurrence, and health status of the caregiver. Model 3, which included additional burnout, showed 37% of the factors predicting depression (F=12.36, p<.001). Conclusions: These results suggest that it is necessary to develop programs for prevention and management of depression among cancer patients’ family caregivers.
