Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify the relationship between decision-making types, public entrepreneurship, and performance management of local public hospital directors. Methods : A questionnaire survey was carried out to assess the dependent variables of directors’ decision-making types and public entrepreneurship. The analysis of management performance was carried out through a comparison between 2016 results of, data of variation rate on medical revenue and change rate on medical profit and results in 2015. Results : Results indicated that local public hospital directors who used rational decision-making showed better performance management. The analysis showed that enterprise had a greater positive effect (+) on variation rate of medical revenue than that of innovation. However, innovation had a higher positive effect (+) on change rate of medical profit than that of enterprise. These results suggest that innovation and enterprise have a major influence on performance management. Conclusions : The survey used for this study suggests that an education and training program is needed to improve public hospital directors’ ability for rational decision-making, public entrepreneurship and performance management. Additionally, the policy change guaranteeing autonomy within the proper range is demanded that Local Public Hospital Director having spirit of innovation and enterprise achieves peak capacity and have responsibility for management

Objectives : This study examines the voluntary participation of the members of an organization who maintain cordial and friendly relationships with their colleagues, so that the human resources department within a hospital can be used efficiently. Methods : A total of 600 copies of the questionnaire were distributed, and 524 copies were returned (88%). Of these, 518 copies were used to verify statistic results using IBM SPSS and AMOS Ver. 22.0, including factor analysis, path analysis, mediating effects, and moderating effects. Results : The effect of organizational trust on organizational citizenship behavior has shown that OCBI (Interpersonal) is highly affected at large hospitals. However, the effect of organizational trust on OCBO (Organizational) is highly affected at small hospitals. Conclusions : The results of a gap analysis indicated that among the different aspects of organizational justice, distributive justice and interactional justice have a positive effect on organizational trust in small hospitals. The results also revealed that organizational trust and organizational citizenship behavior in small hospitals are more strongly affected than they are in large hospitals. As a result, job efficiency is improved in smaller hospitals.

Objectives : This study developed and validated the local clinic Medical Doctor Role Stress Scale(MDRS). Methods : The interviews were conducted with 12 local clinic medical doctors to develop final preliminary questions. The scale was developed using statistical item analysis, exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis surveys with local clinic medical doctors in Seoul, Busan, Daejeon, and Gyeonggi province. Results : The MDRS developed in this study consisted of 14 items and three factors. The factors were role conflict, role ambiguity and role overload. The three factors explained 56.71% of the total variance, and the internal consistency of this scale was .90. The internal consistency for each factor was .81 ~ .90. Confirmatory factor analysis through a separate sampling met the fit criteria (CFI = .941, TLI = .927, RMSEA = .079, SRMR = .069). Conclusions : The results indicate that this scale is a reliable instrument for assessing local clinic medical doctor role stress.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to present basic data on organizational changes in a Korean medicine hospital by performing organizational diagnosis and examining the job satisfaction and organizational commitment of the hospital. Methods : The subjects were a total of 218 employees in four Korean medicine hospitals, and data were collected from 1st to 25th September 2015. Using SPSS 21.0, frequency analysis, technical statistical analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation analysis, and multiple regression analysis were performed. Results : The Korean medicine hospital tended to value relationships, the rewards for and attitudes towards change were low. The number of participants in this study with higher organizational diagnosis scores was high for job satisfaction and organizational commitment, and there was a strong positive correlation. It was seen that rewards, relationship, helpful mechanisms, and leadership among organizational diagnosis areas had an effect on job satisfaction, and helpful mechanisms, purposes, and leadership had an effect on organizational commitment. Conclusions : These findings will be useful because policies, research, and education are needed to facilitate organizational changes in Korean medicine hospitals.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to compare the characteristics of nursing work environments based on department type and to investigate the relationship between work environment and job satisfaction. Methods : The participants were 420 nurses from the ward, emergency room, intensive care unit, and operation room. The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, ANOVA, Scheffe’s test, and multiple regression test using the SPSS Win. 18.0 program. Results : The results were as follows: There was a significant difference in possibilities for development, meaning of work, recognition(reward), role clarity, and social community at work based on department type. The factors that influenced job satisfaction were influence, meaning of work, recognition(reward), role conflicts, and quality of leadership and these differed based on department type. Conclusions : The results of this study indicate that nursing work environments vary based on the type of hospital department. Therefore, it is necessary to develop diverse strategies for human resource management considering the type of department.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the effect of nurses’ resilience, job satisfaction, and social support on organizational commitment. Methods : The data were collected from August 25, 2017 to September 5, 2017 by distributing a questionnaire to 195 nurses. The measures in this study included resilience, job satisfaction, social support, and organizational commitment. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, t-tests, ANOVAs, Pearson's correlation coefficients, and a hierarchical multiple linear regression using the SPSS/WIN 21.0 program. Results : There were significant correlations among resilience, job satisfaction, social support, and organizational commitment. The factors that significantly influenced nurses’ organizational commitment were job satisfaction (β=0.599, p<.001), type of work (β=0.190, p=.007), and pay satisfaction (β=0.170, p=.002). Conclusions : In order to increase organizational commitment, it is necessary to create a systematic program that enhances nurses’ job satisfaction with their type of work and pay satisfaction.

Objectives : The aim of this research was to identify the relationships among parenting stress, parenting efficacy and turnover intension among nurses working in medium-sized hospitals. Methods : Two-hundred three nurses were recruited in 10 medium-sized hospitals in B city. They were asked to complete a questionnaire, and data were analyzed using SPSS program. Results : Subjects perceived a moderate level of turnover intension. Turnover intension showed significant differences by age (F=3.29, p=.039), working department (F=5.11, p=.007), working form (t=0.36, p=.037), reason for going to work (F=3.13, p=.027), and satisfaction with the job (F=17.94, p<.001), support from colleagues (F=12.82, p<.001). Factors affecting turnover intension were satisfaction of working, parenting support from colleagues, reason for working. The model was statistically significant explaining 24.1% of varience (F=10.141, p<.001). Conclusions : Nursing administrators should consider the experience of married nurses at medium-sized hospitals as a significant human resource, and be aware that supplementing this can reduce nurses’ turnover intension.

Objectives : This cross-sectional study aims to investigate the differences in general health status (GHS) and physical care burdens (PCB) of inpatient groups in long-term care hospitals (LTCH). Methods : The data of 228 patients were analyzed by integrating the electronic medical record (EMR) data of 2016, recorded by the nurses of hospitalized patients in the hospital. Results : There was a statistically significant difference in the GHS between the high-medical demand group and the other groups, but there was no difference in the GHS among other groups. The overall PCB was higher in the high-medical demand group than in the middle-medical demand, and cognitive impairment groups, but not in the problem behavioral group. Conclusions : The current classification of patient groups has shown limitations in terms of the basis of differential benefits of the groups. In particular, the PCB of the problem behavior group was not different from that of any group; hence, it should be adjusted through further study. To control the surge of medical care costs, it is necessary to improve the irrationality of the LTCH pay system in terms of the integration and continuity for elderly care.

Objectives : This study was performed to investigate the health status and social support among elderly living alone with restricted daily functions using the data of the “2014 the Korean Elderly Survey”. Methods : Data on 2,407 elderly living alone were drawn and statistically examined using a t‒test, an ANOVA, and a multiple regression analysis. Results : The study found that first, the elderly living alone with restricted daily functions comprised 22.1% of the total elderly living alone, and those who were older elderly, illiterate, with low‒income, having poor nutrition management, and with a poor health status. Second, among the elderly living alone with restricted daily functions, there was a group with very little support from the family and only 14.0% were covered by long‒term care insurance. Third, the life satisfaction of the elderly with restricted functions was lower than that of the non‒restricted elderly, and was affected by income, health conditions, depression, access to senior welfare centers, and communication with others. Conclusions : The elderly living alone with restricted daily functions have serious health risks and social support, and hence they should be provided with more proactive support for life, health care and social care to live independently within their communities.

Objectives : This study aimed to identify the factors influencing insufficient physical activity in community-dwelling elderly individuals with dementia. Methods : Data were analyzed using a 2014 Survey of Living Conditions of Elderly Individuals. Metabolic Equivalent Task (MET) hours were calculated using self-reported weekly frequency, duration, and types of physical activities to measure the degree of physical activity. Results : Mean MET hours were 4.03 ± 8.59. Factors influencing insufficient physical activity included limitations in activities of daily living (ADL), lower frequency of social group participation and unsatisfactory relationships with friends or community. When demographic factors were adjusted, patients with ADL limitation had 11.2 times higher risks of insufficient physical activities than those without. Conclusions : Community-dwelling elderly with dementia performed low levels of physical activity. Further research is needed to develop strategies to encourage physical activity participation in this population.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of welfare workers who are economically active as wage earners after undergoing industrial accidents on their turnover intention in terms of demographic, working environment, and health characteristics. Methods : The data were analyzed in this study with the chi-square test and logistic regression using SPSS ver. 22.0 to analyze the factors influencing the turnover intention of industrial workers(PSWCI, 2016, N=1,083). Results : Model 1 included age, education, average wage, and union, Model 2 includer the number of workers in the workplace, average number of working days, overtime, and employment status were statistically significant. Model 3 included characteristics of health, Model 4 includer education, average wage, union, average number of working days, overtime, employment status were statistically significant. Conclusions : It is necessary to develop tools, indicators, and systematic and step-by-step programs to evaluate the stable work environment in the workplace, as well as to improve workers' return to work.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify the post-traumatic stress, social support, and depression of Vietnam veterans and the effects of post-traumatic stress and social support on depression. Methods : This study was carried out from June 2017 to September 2017 with the cooperation of the Korean Society of Veterans' Affairs and 250 Vietnamese veterans from D city were randomly sampled and collected. The collected data were used by SPSS 24.0 Statistics Program. Results : Social support was inversely correlated with post-traumatic stress (r=-.268, p<.001) and depression (r=-.333, p<.001), and post-traumatic stress and depression (r=.592, p<.001) were positively correlated. Post-traumatic stress and social support of veterans had a significant effect on depression, and post-traumatic stress and social support showed an explanatory power of 37.7% in depression. Conclusions : It is necessary to improve soldiers’ mental health by mediating their post-traumatic stress and reducing their depression level by establishing a social support system.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to examine the mediating effect of professional self-concept on the relationship between professor-student interaction and job-seeking anxiety among nursing students. Methods : A cross-sectional survey was conducted using a convenient sampling method with data collected from a sample of 294 nursing students. The structured questionnaire included items to assess job-seeking anxiety, professional self-concept, and professor-student interaction among nursing students. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics, t-test, ANOVA, Pearson’s correlation coefficient, and multiple regression using the SPSS 24.0 program. Mediation analysis was performed according to the Sobel test. Results : Analysis of the mediating effect of professional self-concept showed a significant mediating influence of professional self-concept on the relationship between professor-student interaction and job-seeking anxiety. Conclusion : The findings suggest that professional self-concept may play a role in increasing the effect of professor-student interaction on job-seeking anxiety. Therefore, this study underscores the need to consider ways of enhancing professional self-concept during interventions for nursing students.

Objectives : As the management philosophy of hospital social responsibility is diversified, we systematically reviewed the literature to apply ISO 26000 to the monitoring of social responsibility activities in accordance with social needs and changes. Methods : PubMed Database, NDSL and RISS were searched for articles related to CSR based on ISO 26000. The articles were classified according to aims, methods and results. Results : There is a lack of research and development of the CSR tools of hospitals, including human rights, labor practices, and consumer issues, which are parts of the seven key topics of ISO 26000. Conclusions : Based on ISO 26000 as an international standard for social responsibility activities, it is necessary to develop a measurement tool for social responsibility activities that reflects legal and institutional situations of Korean hospitals.
