In this paper, an adaptive network backstepping control for a class of uncertain nonlinear systems is presented and applied to an inverted pendulum. The proposed technique will provide useful solutions when dealing with: unknown nonlinearities; unknown system parameters; external or internal disturbances and stabilization in a desired position. A specific type of artificial neural networks called Multilayer Perceptron is used and simulation results clearly demonstrate the power of this approach.

There are lots of algorithms and concepts that are employed to secure intellectual property of the user. In this paper a scheme known as secret sharing is used to securely distribute user’s work among different parties. Objective behind the paper is to provide such a protocol that enhance and achieve privacy and other expectations of the owner of the information. The scheme states that, the information is accessible only when at least k shareholders from n must get together. User’s shares are constructing through quadratic polynomial. To make such a scheme more relevant to its users, the concept of cryptography is applied. Here the shares are encrypted so that dishonest dealer and malicious participants are not able to view or alter the data. The shares are enciphered by using different encryption algorithms to make a comparative study and to know most secure and powerful among them. “PyCrypto” a python based cryptography tool is used for this purpose.

The results of an earlier study are utilized to obtain regression model equations for predicting the variation of the fraction of the total pressure loss which is due to duct fittings for varying numbers of air inlets and lengths of extract ventilation ductwork, in a set of ventilation system configurations. The obtained second order equations give a general increase of the fraction from 0.590 to 0.667 for an increase in number of air inlets (and number of ventilated rooms) from 2 to 12 and an increase of the fraction from 0.598 to 0.667 for an increase of duct length from 2.8m to 22.4m. The correlation coefficients for a 90% confidence level are, respectively, 0.707 and 0.713 for the variations of the fitting loss fraction with number of air inlets and length of index duct run. The obtained fractions are useful for quick estimate of total pressure losses in ventilation duct systems, which are needed in determining the fan system pressure requirements.

This paper proposed an efficient, intelligent and less complex method of face recognition. A hybrid approach of face recognition is proposed here using the neural networks and Bezier curves. Detection of structural facial features such as eyes, eyebrows, nose, lips and mouth boundaries is an essential process for various image processing task such as face recognition. In this paper we introduced a method to denote the landmark on face using Bezier curve and then by further processing of these Bezier curves, image recognition is done.

The demands of data analysis and processing make the parallel computing platforms are continuously developed. But the existing parallel computing models which are the core of platforms present the characteristics of diversification, high pertinence and short cycle. So a synthetic model of supporting flexible platforms urgently needs to be researched. This work researches a synthetic model to shield the heterogeneity of parallel computing models under the theories of λ-calculus, functional language and graph reduction. Based on the MapReduce and BSP models, first of all, the performing principles of models are analyzed. And then the unified modalities of models are found. Finally, the synthetic model having high performance is developed with graph reduction rules, and the experiment results are also shown.

In this paper, a comparative study is done on performance of strained SiGe Heterojunction Bipolar Transistors (HBTs) with 100nm base width of conventional transistor. The device parameters like energy band gap variation, electron current density, electron drift velocity, electron and hole mobility are discussed. Here the current gain of strained SiGe layers was observed to increase by seven times as compared to bulk Si, because of the improvement in mobility in the trapezoid-base Si0.88Ge0.12 HBT. The strained SiGe HBT had 0.07 v lower turn on voltage than BJTs. The DC current gain of SiGe HBT can be improved further, by increasing Ge mole fraction. The simulation and parameter extraction have been done through the device simulator atlas module of SILVACO software.

Modern this paper proposes non dominated sorting genetic algorithm (NSGA-II) which has feature of adaptive crowding distance for finding optimal location and sizing of Static Var Compensators (SVC) in order to minimize real power losses and voltage deviation and also to improve voltage profile of a power system at the same time. While finding the optimal location and size of SVC, single line outages are considered as contingencies and voltage limits for the buses are taken as security constraints. To demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach, NSGA-II has been applied for finding optimal location and sizing of SVC on IEEE 30-bus test system. The obtained results are highly encouraging and reveal the capability of the NSGA-II to generate well-distributed non-dominated Pareto front.
