In recent years there has been widespread use of power electronics devices and non-linear elements in rectification and switchgear applied to various areas of power system. Power systems contain levels of harmonics which can no longer be ignored by engineers, planners, energy conservationists and economists due to the presence of non-linear loads. A simulated case study of distributed system in IEEE 519 is being used here for harmonic reduction. From the simulated case study, the network was investigated using MiPower software package. The results were compared with IEEE standards 519 and it was found that MiPower software is the preferred package for power system harmonic analysis. The harmonic reduction solution chosen was to design a passive filter to decrease the distortion by shifting the resonance point of the network. This paper includes the method to design the passive filter and its impact on efficiency and energy usage.

This paper presents for isolated handwritten Arabic characters recognition a comparison between the performances in terms of precision and speediness of six hybrid methods of features extraction based on a combination between profile technique and some efficient moments. More precisely these methods are profile with Racah moment, profile with Gegenbauer moment, profile with Hahn moment, profile with Tchybechev moment and profile with orthogonal Fourier-Mellin moment, finally profile combined in the same time with all these moments. For this purpose we have used for pre-processing the character images the median filter, the thresholding, the centering and the edge detection techniques, while in order to recognize each unknown character we have employed the support vectors machine. The simulation result demonstrates that the most precise method is the profile combined with all moments but in the same time it is the less fast.

The phishing is a kind of e-commerce lure which is intended to steal the confidential information of the internet user by making identical website of legitimate one in which the contents and images most likely remains similar to the legitimate website. The other way of phishing website is to do minor changes in the URL or in the domain of the website. In this paper, an anti-phishing system is proposed which is based on the development of the Add-on tool for the web browser. The performance of the proposed system is studied with four different data mining classification algorithms which are Class Imbalance Problem (CIP), Rule based Classifier (Sequential Covering Algorithm (SCA)), Nearest Neighbour Classification (NNC), Bayesian Classifier (BC). To evaluate the performance of the proposed anti-phishing system for the detection of phishing websites, we have collected 7690 legitimate websites and 2280 phishing websites from the authorised sources like APWG database and PhishTank. After the analysis of the anti-phishing system, more than 90 percentage successful results achieved at different time periods.

The returns from Shea nut processing help rural communities to meet the cash requirements of the rural households. The processing of Shea kernels into butter is mostly done traditionally; these methods are inefficient in terms of the amount and quality of butter extracted. This research works however tend to evaluates the profit potential of Shea nut processing in some communities of Bosso and Borgu LGAs of Niger state, Nigeria. Specifically, the study looked at the processing techniques, its profit potential and the constraints associated with the processing. Four communities were purposively selected from two LGAs of zone II and III of Niger state. A total sample size of one hundred and fifty three (153) processors were randomly selected to whom the structured questionnaires were administered, this represent 61.7% of the sample frame used for this study. Data collected were analyzed using descriptive statistics, multiple regression and budgetary technique. The study revealed that more than 90% of the respondents were women and more than 80% used traditional method of processing. The total revenue and net revenue accrued to the processing business of Shea nut were found to be N9, 879, 480.00 and N2, 754, 197.22 respectively for all the respondents per month. The net return was calculated to be N18, 001.29 per respondents per month. The regression estimates revealed R2 value of (0.99) and F-value of (544.1848827). The coefficients of years of experience and total revenue were found to be positive and statistically significant at 5% and1% respectively while educational level and total costs of processing were negative and statistically significant at 5% and1% respectively. Some major problems faced by Shea nut processors were lack of mechanized processing equipments, drudgery associated with processing, poor access to credit and storage facilities. Effort to mitigate these problems entails the provision of simple, affordable, mechanized and adoptable processing equipments to reduce labour intensity and to ensure quality standard, provision of credit will boost processing efficiency, productivity and the income of the rural households involved in the processing of the Shea nut.

This paper focuses mainly on the phase plane analysis for two species commensal-host ecological model. In this model, the commensal has considered with mortality rate and the host is being immigrated at constant rate. Further the model is restricted with the limited resources. The behavior of this ecological model is observed around the equilibrium points through phase -plane analysis method by taking a set of selected values of the parameters in the basic model equations.

Critical imperfections such as Debond, voids and cracks decrease performance of composite structure. Accurate evaluation of properties of composites with above imperfections prevents the catastrophic failure of designing components. In this study, finite element analysis is performed to determine the effective elastic properties of debonded unidirectional composites with Micro and Macro-mechanics approaches. Intensity of fully debonded fibers on the behavior of total composite material is studied. The applicability of the present work is explored for conventional fiber of boron with homogenized nano fullerene particle mixed polymer matrix. The effect of debonding of boron fiber reinforcement on the effective Young’s modulus and Poisson’s ratio of the composite is demonstrated. The study revealed that transverse Young’s modulus (E2) is extensively affected than longitudinal Young’s modulus due to debond.
