Natural fibers have become alternative to researcher as an alternative reinforcement for fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) composites. The main objective of this investigation is to evaluate the optimum combination of process parameters to maximize the mechanical characteristics viz., Tensile strength, Flexural strength and Impact strength respectively using Taguchi method and utility concept. In fact the traditional Taguchi method cannot solve a multi-objective optimization problem; to overcome this limitation utility concept has been coupled with Taguchi method. Test specimens are prepared by injection molding technique as per L9 orthogonal array in Taguchi’s Design of experiments, the process parameters considered are percentage fiber weight fraction (% wtf) and fiber length (Fl). The individual performance characteristic of the composite material has been transformed to corresponding utility values. Individual utility values have been aggregated to compute the overall utility, which serves as representative objective function for optimization using Taguchi method. Based on the Taghuchi’s Signal-to-Noise ratio (S/N), analysis has been made on the overall utility degree and optimal process parameters has been selected finally which corresponding to highest S/N ratio. Optimal results have been verified through confirmatory test.

As a representative network architecture of future network, CCN has attracted more and more attention from academia and industry. Among many components of CCN, caching policy is the key feature, which directly influences CCN’s performance. In this paper, an interesting topic is explored, i.e. whether the network performance will be promoted if popular and non-popular contents are cached respectively. A cache partition policy based on content popularity is proposed with the theoretical expression derived and the Matlab calculation results provided to verify its performance. The numerical results have shown that, the proposed policy is always superior to the commonly used LCE/LRU policy due to the increased characteristic time.

Cetane helps to reduce the ignition delay, which in turn reduces the combustion temperatures thereby reduce NOx emissions. Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) proved to be an effective way to reduce the NOx emissions. In this present experimental work, a combination of exhaust gas recirculation and cetane improver Isobutanol is used to investigate the performance and exhaust emissions of a single cylinder four stroke naturally aspirated direct injection and air cooled diesel engine. Test results shown that the brake thermal efficiency increases with the increase in the percentage of EGR which is accompanied by a reduction in brake specific fuel consumption and exhaust gas temperatures, and that biodiesel with cetane improver under 20%EGR reduces NOX emissions by 33% when compared to baseline fuel without EGR. However carbon monoxide (CO), hydro carbon (HC) and smoke emissions increased with an increase in percentage of EGR.

The activity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K in twenty - one soil samples collected from five Nile Islands in EL-Mynia governorate have been measured by gamma ray spectroscopy. These islands are used for tourist and agricultural activities. The average activity concentrations of 226Ra, 232Th and 40K ranged from 14±0.8 to 21±1, 10±0.5 to 23.3±1 and 356.5±18 to 411±20.5 BqKg-1 respectively. The radiological hazards [radium equivalent (Raeq), dose rate, annual effective dose (AED), external hazard (Hex) internal hazard (Hin), gamma radiation hazard index (Iγr) and excess lifetime cancer risk (ELCR)] for tourists and farmers were calculated. The data were discussed and compared with those given in the literatures.

Automation is a one of the most popular technology. Now a day’s all production based industries need automation, because it gives more advantages over manual control system such as it reduce the man power, it reduces the operational errors, it reduce the failure rates, Easy to trouble shoot the system, it reduce the maintenance cost, it eliminate the hard wiring, it gives less rejection etc. The main aim of the paper is to automate the soda ash handling system in glass production line at leading glass production industry. The glass production line all systems are controlled by DCS (Distributed control system) but some sub systems are controlled by electromechanical relay system (Hard wired control system). The relay control system looks toward many issues. To limit that issues the system change from relay control system to PLC (Programmable logic controller) control system, because it gives more advantages over relay control system. In this proposed system all parameters are controlled, processed and monitored with help of Allen Bradley PLC and Wonderware intouch SCADA software.

Flow around a circular cylinder is a fundamental fluid mechanics problem of practical importance. The dynamic characteristics of the pressure and velocity fields of unsteady incompressible laminar and turbulent wakes behind a circular cylinder are investigated numerically and analyzed simulation. The governing equations, written in the velocity pressure formulation are solved using 2-D finite volume method. In the present work is based on the cylinder diameter 102 Reynolds number for flow analysis slow and also turbulent based on the diameter of the cylindrical Reynolds number 105 as well as for the analysis of the flow around a cylindrical has been considered. The aim of this research is to investigate the influence of Reynolds number on flow parameters and verify the correctness of the calculations carried out by the governing equations of fluid mechanicsflow. Research on the hydraulic parameters of the flow around a cylinder help of ANSYS software. The frequencies of the drag and lift oscillations obtained theoretically agree well with the experimental results. The pressure and drag coefficients for different Reynolds numbers were also computed and compared with experimental and other numerical results. Due to faster convergence, 2-D finite volume method is found very much prospective for turbulent flow as well as laminar flow.
