The purposes of this study were to explore amount of time use for house work, leisure and extracurricular lesson used by adolescents and to explain its influencing factors. Tobit model was used to analyze the factors of time use because amount of time use was a limited continuous variable. The results of this study were as follows: 1) Amount of time used for house work per day by adolescents was found to be 36min. for weekdays and 64 min. for holidays. Amount of time used for passive leisure per day by adolescents was found to be 203min. for weekdays and 375 min. for holidays. Amount of time used for active leisure per day by adolescents was found to be 74 min. for weekdays and 194 min. for holidays. Amount of time used for extracurricular lesson per day by adolescents was found to be 96min. for weekdays and 36 min. for holidays. 2) Time use for house work was found to be significantly influenced by education status, education level of mother, job status of mother for weekdays and gender, education level of mother, job status of mother, household income for holidays. Time use for passive leisure was found to be significantly influenced by education status, small children at home for weekdays and gender, education status for holidays. Time use for active leisure was found to be significantly influenced by gender, education status for holidays, while there was no influencing factors for weekdays. Finally, time use for extracurricular lesson was found to be significantly influenced by gender, education status, household income for weekdays, and age, education level of mother for holidays.

The purpose of this study is to analyze leisure studies in human ecology of Korea and to discuss them. For this analysis, the articles which were published on the Journal of Korean Home Economics Association, the Journal of Korean Home Management Association, and the Journal of Korean Family Resource Management Association were investigated by theme, research subject, and research method. Leisure studies in human ecology began with the survey of time-use or activity patterns and they were focused on the housewives. Since the latter half of the 1990' s varied groups -especially the old- are subject to sample, and the shared leisure is studied, varied themes are studied. The research method were deflected to the survey using questionnaire all throughout the period. For the future study, we suggest that the general theories developed and the appropriate research method applied.

This study is the basic step of including the economical value of household labor into the existing GDP. Therefore this study analyzes statistical data; Economical Active Population Survey, Time Used Survey, Basic Wage Structural Survey, and City Household Survey for that step and will help people to reconsider the importance of the economical value household work. Economical Active Population Survey classifies housework as economically nonoproductive activity Time Use Survey does not have an clear classification for action. Basic Wage Structural Survey must give subdividable information on wage. City Household Survey should include more details and more data of household durables.

The purpose of the research is to investigate the amount of private education expenditures for on-line education and the factors which affect on-line education expenditures and its decreasing effect of private education expenditures. The results of this study can provide basic materials to found policy to decrease private education market and private education expenditures. The sample of this study was 484 parents who had an experience using on-line education for their children being in mainly constituted by classes of pre-school over and less than high school student. The results was as follows. First, education expenditures for on-line education are 64,900won and the English and the Mathematics as main reasons using on-line education were that it is available for 24 hours and cheaper than off-line education. The parents got information for on-line education by internet, mass media and their next-door neighbors. Second, the significant variables which affect on-line education expenditures and its decreasing effect of education expenditures were the children's school level and financial related factors.

This study examined which factors influence the parental borrowing for children's college education in the U.S. A double-hurdle model was applied to analyze both the parents’decision to borrow and the amount of borrowing. Parents’income and total costs of college attendance had significant positive effects on both the decision to borrow and the amount borrowed. Students’income, parents’cash and savings had significant negative impacts on the amount borrowed, while home equity and the students’expected future income were significant positive factors. Greater amounts of grants significantly increased the probability of borrowing, but reduced the loan amount. Parents with smaller household size, and those who were college graduates were more likely to borrow. White parents borrowed greater amounts than did their non-White counterparts. The age of the student was a significant negative factor in the probability, as well as the level, of borrowing.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the trends of saving rates in households (1982-1998). That has increased approximately 50% in all classes and have changed in according to economic development, price indices and economic situations. Demographic characteristics such as income, age and number of family members were the variables which show the differences in saving rates.

The purpose of this study was to analyze which factor, influenced the business and family performance success. Data were obtained from 248 family households. Proxy variable of the business performance was gross business income and of the family performance was the Family AFGAR scores. The multiple regression analysis was conducted for both the business performance equation and family performance equation. The main results of this study were as followings: The results indicated the effects of various business and family characteristics on performance and their contributions to the business and family performance model. Nine explanatory variables such as sex, being home-based, number of hours worked per week, number of family employee, number of nonfamily employee, total asset, the presence of young child under 6, nonbusiness income, and role conflicts were statistically significant in the business performance equation and three explanatory variables such as the hours worked per week, family stress scores, and role conflicts were statistically significant in the family performance equation. The results indicated the need for a more comprehensive view of family business performance.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the relationships between young housewives’economy consciousness and economy behavior. The data used in this study were taken from 429 housewives between 20's and 35's who have at least one child with their spouse in Seoul The results of this study were as follows : First, the general trend of the economy consciousness and behavior in living resources was that the level of consciousness is more higher than the level of behavior. Second, the degree of employed wives' economy behavior was more passive than that of house wives’behavior. Third, housewives’economy consciousness and behavior showed a significant difference in their education level, family income and number of children. Fourth, from the Regression Analysis, the Model was accounting for 45% of the variance. Influential variables on housewives’economy consciousness and behavior were self esteem, the inside and outside control, perception of the adequacy of resources. Fifth, out of sub- variables about housewives’economy consciousness and behavior, energy resources was relatively at the high level.

The purpose of this study was to achieve regarding the environmental problem due to excessive economic development for human being's continous life and to try to enhance the quality of life. The major findings of this study are as followings: 1) Environmental consciousness and activity are closely correlated and also postively related to quality of life. Accordingly, environmental consciousness should be inspired and the environmental activities performed successfully to enhance the quality of life so that we can lead higher quality of life. 2) Income takes the highest position in the life-influncing factor with the following sequence of environmental consciousness, preservation acitivity, housekeeper's education level and age. So, earlier and steady education are important in raising the education level to have people equipped with environmental consciousness and activity. Moreover, we should be able to create income through education to enhance the quality of life. Accordingly, we should take a positive measure for enhancing environmental preservation and quality of life to meet two solutions, such as mankind's continuous development and value-oriented life.

This study is to understand consumer's information search activity and satisfaction. When they buy the elderly related goods through internet market and to get some ideas for silver industry on internet shopping. The 382 subjects by online banner formatted Questionnaires were analyzed by frequency, percentage, standard deviation, Person's relation and regression analysis by SPSS PC program. The major findings are summarized as follows. (1) The most respondents were young and well-educated. In terms of psychological variables, the degree of the consumer's perception for internet usefulness and using capability were relatively high. (2) Information search amount of the group who have experienced purchasing elderly related goods through internet shopping and had low perception of internet risk is higher than other group. (3) The variables influenced mostly on consumer satisfaction were the age, the sex, the purchasing experience from Internet shopping, the Internet using capacity and the perception of internee usefulness as well as of the perception of internet risk.

The goal of this study was to examine differences between traditional and electronic commerce in criteria of the amount of consumer information and the level of consumer satisfaction. In addition this study examined factors influencing the amounts of information search of consumers and the level of consumer satisfaction between traditional and electronic commerce. The results of this study are as follows. First, consumers gathered more information about stores and price in electronic commerce, but more information about quality and after service in traditional commerce. Second, overall, rational consumers, and consumers buying electronic goods collected more information. Third, consumers were more satisfied with shopping in electronic commerce than in traditional commerce except for the satisfaction from price. However, comsumers' satisfaction was not differed what kind of goods consumers buy. Fourth, if consumers gathered lots of information, they tend to be more satisfied than otherwise. In addition, there were positive relationship between consumer’lower age, rational purchase behavior, and positive thinking of the electronic commerce.

This study was purposed to explore how the information society effects on the working life of the married women. To answer the question, with theroetical background, 6 married women's cases which were selected through women's portal internet site were analysed. As results, these married women had contracting base, part-time jobs. Their jobs were chacterized by computerizing. They were different with traditional jobs in the industrial society. Internet sites were effectively used for work information network by them. So, in the future, many married women will be able to find working opportunity in a home-based part-time job through internet. And they presented aptitude for their work. Her children and husband were proud of her. They had confidence in their working ability Many women had a project publishing a book, owning a business, and making new products by her own's idea.
