The purpose of this empirical study is to examine the factors affecting the leisure attitudes and the participation level of leisure activities of middle- and old-aged homemakers and the relationship between the leisure attitudes and their participation level of leisure activities. The samples were composed of 264 married women over 40 years old, selected by age and local distribution. The major findings of this study are as follows. The more the middle- and old-aged women show the positive behavioral leisure attitude, the more actively they participated leisure activities. Also, the economic factor of the samples was the most significant factor to affect the leisure attitudes and the participation level of leisure activities. The findings of this study provide some implications regarding the policies on the leisure facilities and leisure education programs to enhance the quality of life of the middle- and old-aged homemakers.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of two variable groups(socio-demographic factors and psychological factors) on money management strategies and financial satisfaction. The major findings of this study are as follows : Household income, level of education of wives, and locus of control had significant effect on the level of financial satisfaction. After the effect of socio - demographic variables and psychological variables was controlled, Especially evaluating strategy was found to be the most powerful variable in explaining financial satisfaction.

The purpose of this study is to analyze consumption expenditure patterns over family life cycle. The data used in the study is the 1994 Survey data from Annual Report on the Family Income and Expenditure Survey. The study sample included 26,980 salary and wage earners’ households living in cities. The family life cycle was classified into six stages and items of expenditure were classified into 12 categories. Frequency distribution, mean, one-way ANOVA, Scheff test, and regression analysis were used to analyze the data. The major findings of this study are as follows : First, the average consumption propensity differs among family life cycle. Second, the amount and budget share of consumption expenditure for each expenditure category differ significantly among family life cycle in all expenditure categories. Third, family life cycle is found to be a significant factor on expenditure of food and education, and also on budget share of education.

The Purpose of this study is to theoretically approach about Home-Based Business and develop a clear understanding of the relationship between family functioning and business viability in families who own and operate Home-Based Business. Home-Based Business is perceived as a viable income producing option for people who have lost their traditional income source and a mechanism for using of women’s lafor forces. Home-Based Work are changed in family structure and the allocation of work. Several authorities have suggested that Home-Based Business provides an effective way to balance the demands of paid employment and family responsibilities, particulary for women. All of these factors have contributed to an increase in the number of Home-Based Workers. Therefore, this proposed research reviewed the Home-Based Business as they contributed to individual and family well-being in both family and business settings and examined the Home-Based Business related factors which influencing the family life. Such understanding will be helpful in enhancing the stability and security of families who own and operate Home-Based Business.

The purpose of this study is to analyze housewives’ cognition, usage, and management behavior of credit cards according to home management behavior pattern. The sample of this study was selected from the housewives’ living in Seoul who has credit cards. After class-analyzation of the sample, 523 out of 612 repondents were finally selected data. The data were analyzed by the statical methods such as frequency, mean, percentile, Factor Analysis, t-test, ANOVA, Duncan’s multiple range test, Person’s Correlation, and Multiple Regression Analysis through the SAS program package. The major findings of this study are as followers : First, housewives’ usage and management behavior of credit cards was a positive relationship between home management behavior pattern. Second, housewives’ cognition of credit cards showed a significant positive relationship with usage and management behavior of credit card. Third, the most influencial variables on housewives’usage and management behavior of credit cards were their value and home management behavior pattern.

The purpose of this study is to identify the situation of leisure preferences, the effect of related variables on the leisure preferences, and the relationship between leisure preferences and participations of urban married women. The survey of this research was conducted by means of interviews with 606 married women in Seoul. The instruments of the survey were questionnaires including a leisure preferences scale. Data were analysed by means of the statistics of frequency, mean, standard deviation, ANOVA, and Sheffe’s multiple range test, using the SPSS program. The results were as follows: The most preferred leisure type by urban married women is family oriented activities, especially conversations with family and playing with children. The level of leisure preferences differs according to related variables. The most distinctive variable on leisure preferences is the sex role of women. The relationship between leisure preferences and participations differs according to leisure activities and types. Especially in the area of religion/ social activities and self-developing activities, preferences on leisure activities has relatively strong relationship with participations on leisure activities.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the sages’ philosophic view of home economic management in Chosun dynasty. The research method is to review literatures such as Jangbosanrimkongje, Songhosasal, Sasojul, Nehun, Geneusa, Mocminsimsa and Dasanmusun. The major points of this study were as, 1) Sages mastered that the primary principle of home economic management is to control the material desires. 2) Sages believed that home life management is required the lowest materials, and those materials enough are able to obtained through diligence, frugality, thift and savings. This study was designed to examine the socialization of household work utilizing ecological theory. The main purposes were to identify the socialization level, and to predict the socialization of household work in term of the selected variables. The sample was drawn from housewives of expanding stage of family life cycle in Seoul. 518 respondents were analyzed using SPSS/PC+ statistical package. The results of this study were as follows: 1. Among the variables of food area, education of housewife, type of housing, family income, number of children had significant influence. 2. Among the variables of clothing area, family income was the only important variable. 3. Among the variable of housing area, number of household equipment, number of aids for household work, education of housewife, family income, attitude of housewife’s role, number of aids for household work had significant influence. 4. Among the varables of home management area, number of household equipment, family income, self control had significant influence. 5. Among the environment variables of household work, social-cultural environment had the most important effect on the socialization of household work.

This study explored a terminal values of home economics students at Chonnam national university in Korea. And the terminal values of them were compared with those of USA and Japan. Through this, it make to explain the similarities and differences in terminal values among 3 nations. 175 students were adapted as data in Korea. Data of USA and Japan were obtained from Holyoak, Sawai, and Rauniyar(1993). The data were analyzed by frequency, percentage, means, one-way ANOVA, Duncan-test. The results showed significant similarities and differences in terminal values among 3 groups.

The Purpose of this study were to examine the relationship between the motive of revolving credit card in the use of credit and financial management. The Samples were composed of 239 housewives in Seoul. The data were analized using frequency, percentages, and multiple regression. The major findings are summarized of follows : 1) Two-thirds of repondents used credit card over optimum standards. 2) Although the level of the motive of revolving credit in the use of credit card was not high, it was negative to financial management in the case of low-income household. 3) The contents of consumer education has to provide according to a different income class.
