The purpose of this study was to synthesize the results of studies on the effects of multi-cultural education program for Korean children. Using the author's own selection criteria, 17 studies were finally selected and 31 effect sizes were calculated from these studies and used for meta analysis. The overall effect size for all studies on the random effect model was .802, and it was positive and high. Given the heterogeneity among the effect size, subgroup analysis was conducted. According to the analysis,effect sizes significantly differed depending on program goal, concerned multi-cultural higher than others. Result also showed that the high scored effect sizes were the general family, pre-school age children group, and the program were 11-20 children group in size, and 11~20 times in frequency of education.

The purpose of this study was to analyze the in-home child care support service experience of twenty child rearing families. In order to conduct this study, grounded theory method was employed. The central phenomenon of the service experience digged out from this study was 'difficulty' (i. e. insecurity and a feeling of helplessness). The causal conditions which brought about the central phenomenon were ‘defect of system’ and ‘service characteristics’ The intervening conditions included ‘alternative resources’ ‘working conditions’ and ‘service institute manager discretion'. The contextual conditions consisted of 'maternal ideology' 'the public nanny's personality awareness’. The action/interaction strategies on the central phenomenon were ‘inaction’ ‘insecurity decrease strategy’ and ‘dissonance decrease strategy. Thefinal outcome was ‘rearing gap fillup “the method of nanny managing” dissatisfaction accumulation’ '‘system improvement demand’. The families were classified as four types: ‘management/subject’ ‘adaptation/dependent’ ‘patience/acceptant’ ‘supplementation/ overcoming’. Based on these results, this study provided a few political and practice suggestions to improve this system.

The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of work-family conflict and spousal support resources on parenting stress among working mothers with pre-school children. This study involved a total of 232 working mothers with children enrolled in child care centers in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do as conducting a survey. First, the higher the work-family conflict (inter-role conflict caused by the impact of work on family life), the higher the family-work conflict (inter-role conflict caused by the impact of family life on work). Moreover, the lower the level of spousal support resources (emotional spousal support resources, instrumental spousal resources), the higher the work-family conflict and family-work conflict. The level of parenting stress was higher in working mothers experiencing greater work-family conflict and family-work conflict both and lower levels of spousal support resources for parenting. Second, the number of children and the amount of work-family conflict and instrumental spousal support resources had a statistically significant impact on parenting stress. Thus, the higher the number of children, the greater the work-family conflict, and the lower the level of instrumental spousal support resources, the higher the level of parenting stress. The findings of this study highlight the relative effects of role conflicts between work and family and of spousal support resources on parenting stress in working mothers. Husbands’ being involved in parenting, in particular, was identified as an important support function for healthy child-rearing by successfully combining career and family responsibilities.

The purpose of this study to derstand the relationship between family support and self-esteem among middle-aged Korean women immigrants in Australia with a focus on the effects of depression, which seems to likely mediate these two variables. For the purpose of this study, 147 middle-aged Korean women who live and work in Sydney, Australia, were studied. A statistical method was carried out using descriptive statistics, correlation analysis and reliability analysis by using SPSS ver.18.0. To verify the hypothesis of the research model that was suggested in this study, with the structural equation, AMOS ver.7.0 program was used. The analytical results are as follows. Firstly, family support had an influence on depression and self-esteem and depression had an effect on self-esteem. Secondly, family support had an influence on self-esteem by having depression as a mediation. This outcome not only offers information on self-esteem, which is the psychological welfare of Korean middle-aged women who live in Australia, but also enhances the self-esteem of all middle-aged Koreanwomen who abroad, not just in Australia. Therefore, the study provide basic data support a program related to the welfare of immigrant women who live overseas along with policies for those immigrant women to have successful lives as immigrants. In addition to this, an exploratory research on relevant variables that influence self-esteem will have significant implications even to policies on multi-cultural families that have immigrate into South Korea.

This study investigates the balance between work and family, and the happiness of married working women who have preschool-aged children. Data were collected from 321 questionnaires that consisted of three parts: 1) basic demographic variables, 2)family-life variables, and 3) working-life variables. SPSS 21.0 was used for the statistical analysis. The variables that were identified to have a statistically significant impact on the balance between work and family were income, age of first child, time spent on housework and childcare on weekdays, time spent on housework on weekends, family-friendly service in the workplace and flexibility of work schedule. 2)The variables that were identified to have a statistically significant impact on happiness were age, income, time spent on housework on weekends, satisfaction with spouse's participation in housework and childcare, average working time, family-fiendly service in the workplace, flexibility of work schedule, and balance between work and family. The majority of the variables that influence balance between work and family, and happiness related to aspects of work, such as family-fiendly service, flexibility of work schedules, and average working time. The results also found that the load of housework and childcare on weekends is a heavy burden for working women. Further research needs to focus on developing the extending index of happiness including the measure of balance between work and life. In addition, further studies with more varied groups need to be conducted.

The purpose of this study is to evaluate the current performance of the public services for families in crisis by analyzing the family empowerment service in Healthy Families Support centers. We analyzed performance data of the family empowerment service provided by 25 Healthy Families Support Centers from 2011 to 2013. The results are as follows; First, the number of families in crisis which received public services from the family empowerment service by the Healthy Family Support Centers in 2013 were less than the number in 2011, but increased from 2012. Second, according to the types of crisis, school violence was the most service needed family crisis in 2011, and it was suicide in 2012 and 2013. Third, in the specific services in emergency support for families and family function recovery program, Psychological and emotional support services were the most offered services during 3 years. Accordingly, efficiency of the programs and services in terms of budget is higher than that of any other services. Fourth, analysing the evaluation results of amily empowerment services in 2014, we found that its network is still heavily weighted in certain side by the lack of the utilization and the foundation of the network.

The purpose of this study is to resolve the factors that affect happiness levels and leisure life satisfaction of middle-class and to find way to incorporate them into policy. In this study, a status analysis on leisure life and One-Way ANOVA conduct a study on leisure resource and income levels that affect the happiness level and leisure life satisfaction. To recap briefly, to reduce the social and cultural polarization caused by economic disparity and to promote leisure life satisfaction and happiness level is possible quantitative-qualitative growth and maturation of middle class. The most important thing here is increasing in leisure time and leisure costs that consumed in real leisure life. In other words, leisure life satisfaction and happiness levels in the middle class has seen a significant difference in depending on whether and how much to spend on leisure time and cost, rather than differences of the monthly average household income. More particularly, analysis results seem to hoping of the extra leisure costs about 50,000 won per person and increasing the leisure time on weekdays and long weekend holiday. Above all, It is important to redefine the middle class that meets the recognition of the people and it should reflect government policy. Ultimately, The state of the socio-economic-welfare policies will be further expanded in the direction for the middle class, thinking of themselves as middle class and leading national consciousness.
