In this study, we survey the 2 buildings at the Central 1 and 8 buildings at the Central 2, which are divided by each climate region in the rural regions. Major heat loss factors are 47% loss of the outer shell including outer wall, roof , and bottom, 30% loss through window, and 23% loss through crevice wind. We analyze the energy simulation of ECO2 program to construct a zero energy building regarding village hall located in Jung Juk 4-le at Centeral 2. We simulate the primary energy requirement regarding village hall and the simulated results show the 265.3 kWh/m²・a and it may estimate `2` energy efficiency grade. The energy requirement regarding village hall is the 183.2 kWh/m²・a when the passive technology are applied in village hall. We research total amount of energy requirement in village hall when the passive and active technologies such as solar cell with 3kW and solar thermal with 20m², geothermal power with 17.5kW. The simulated results show the improved energy efficiency certification grade with 1+++ due to the reduced primary energy requirement with 73% when passive technology including 3kW of solar panel is applied and the energy independence rate is 54%, which is estimated to be 4th grade of zero energy buildings. The order of energy consumption are solar panel, solar thermal, and geothermal power under applied passive technology in the building. In order to expand the zero energy building, it is necessary to introduce the zero energy evaluation system in the rural region.

The purpose of the study is to suggest ways to improve the Landscape Review system and Landscape Management System of Jeju Special Self-governing Province through Analysis of the Landscape Review Results and Jeju Special Self-governing Ordinance. For this purpose, the research methods were reviewed for preliminary study and reviewing the laws and ordinances related to landscape, and 318 cases of landscape review, which have been implemented since 2010, were analyzed by item by item along with the result of the review. The main results of the analysis are as follows. First, Jeju Special Self-governing Province, which currently operates an enhanced ordinance of development project review, is experiencing problems such as building the wrong construction projects due to the weak legal basis for follow-up management after landscape Review. Second, Jeju Special Self-governing Province expects efficient management of the province through expansion of the scope of the landscape review. Third, the current status of the decisions by the Landscape review showed that 57.7% of the bills passed, the lowest at 41.9% for the development projects. Fourth, analysis of the landscape review contents by categorization by item showed that ' Landscape Control Guideline' and 'Document not completed' are relatively high. Thus, eight years have passed since the start of the Landscape Management System and the Landscape Review, but systematic institutional stability is not sufficient, so it is necessary to make the Landscape Control Guideline easier to understand.

This study examines the 1960s’ townscape through the small-scale restoration model in Seongan-dong and Jungang-dong, Cheongju, one of the historical cities in South Korea. In the 1960s, Jungang-dong actively was developed outside the north gate of Cheongju castle, and Cheongju's townscape was changed by the relocation of railway station and construction of city hall. In the streetscape, the new roads, the east-west Sajik-ro and north-south Sangdang-ro were opened instead of old railroads, and they clarified the typical grid road system with the existing Seongan-ro, which connected north and south gate of the old castle. In the buildingscape, city hall was built in front of the railway station outside the north gate of old castle, and had a great effect on the existing buildings and facilities. The public, educational, and commercial buildings had been replaced by reinforced concrete, and the cement brick & block public housing were distributed widely. But the existing dwelling areas, located in the inside of old castle and outside south gate, showed the low and dense townscape, sustaining the former streets and building types.

In order to improve the housing environment and quality of life for the rural elderly, this study aims to identify and present the status of community centers, most widely used by the elderly in rural areas. Through the literature review, type and space elements of community centers were derived and selected three target areas were investigated. As a result of literature analysis, the space type of rural community centers were classified as indoor space and outdoor space. The indoor space types were classified as entry space, public space, sanitary space and the outdoor space were classified as entry space and leisure space. Some community centers were surveyed in Seocheon-gun, Wanju-gun, and Cheongju-city. Results indicate the indoor and outdoor space design and elements were undergoing a lot of inconvenience partly because standard design was considered and the space was not planned for the physical, psychological and social health of the rural elderly. Therefore, this study will be used as a basis for building healthier and more friendly residential environments that can enhance the health and quality of life for the elderly in rural areas.

This research aimed to identify transition process of invigoration project of the small-scale schools and status of promoting project of multi-family housing for rental and vacant housing remodeling in Jeju-do, Korea. The results are followings. First, invigoration project of the small-scale schools had been started in villages communities themselves and was institutionalized to local government. To invigorate the small-scale schools was started vacant housing remodeling first in the village itself from 1992. After twenty years had passed, the project was institutionalized to local government in 2013. Second, to enact ordinances about invigoration project of the small-scale schools is the accomplishment of participations and activities of residents who predicted decreasing the number of students in elementary schools. These activities have influenced their communities positively. Finally, to supply multi-family housing for rental or to remodel vacant housing is more effective in increasing residents through influx of students of elementary schools. The average number of students increased from 56.8 in 2013 to 73 in 2018 in 30 elementary schools targeted for invigoration project of the small-scale schools. In particular, the effect in schools targeted the project of rental housing is shown more than schools targeted the project in vacant housing remodeling. In addition, low ratio in the number of closed school is shown in Jeju-do.
