This research aimed to identify walking trails' purpose of its use and the factors that influence the selection. For this, a survey targeting the walking trail users was conducted in 2016 to question the research aim stated above. The mean number of walking trail usage in a month was 2.51 times and the duration of use ranged from one to ten hours, with the average of 2.5 hours. The main reason for the usage was to maintain physical health and the following was for mental relaxation, thus showing more than 90% of the people concerned with physical and mental health. Walking trails near the residences had the greatest percentage and trails that include mountains, rivers, seas and lakes were the following. Trails near historical locations or countryside showed a lower percentage. The choices showed relevance to the proximity as a standard of selection. The next highest percentage was the convenience of transportation. Additionally, people that access the trails three or more times were inclined to be influenced by the installation of exercising equipment. The aspect of facilities showed that the place for relaxation was a significant selection factor such as bathrooms for 20s to 30s and exercising equipments for people older than 50. To access the walking trails, people reach it by automobiles, public transport, walking and bicycles and out of these, automobiles had the highest percentage.

Suhwa Kim Hwan-gi established his own unique world of art based on Korean-style lyricism with his sophisticated and sublimated formative language as the first generation of Korean abstract artist. He made his name known not only in Korea but New York and Paris, the center of contemporary art. Presently, there is almost no material left for us to examine how Kim Hwan-gi's house looked in the first place. But there is a painting that chef Kim Am-gi possesses where we can find the image of painter Kim Hwan-gi’s house drawn by recalling the memories at home in a far-off land. With that, we can see it should be the original looks of that house. To examine the original looks of Kim Hwan-gi's house when it was built, this author studied the closure land registration map. By analyzing 29 land registration maps around Eupdong-ri of Gijwa-myeon in Muan-gun of Jeollanam-do produced in 1917 which National Archives of Korea possesses, this researcher could figure out the status of land registration around Kim Hwan-gi's house with No. 15 and 22 drawing boards. According to the results of considering aerial photographs after the emancipation that National Geographic Information Institute possesses, this author has found that the arrangement of Kim Hwan-gi's house was changed from 1954 up to 2008. In 1954 aerophotos, we can see the main building and studio in Kim Hwan-gi's house and there was an additional structure between them. Kim Hwan-gi's house was built before 1925. The main building presently designated as a cultural asset and also the sarangchae arranged in the east and the studio, too, were built in the similar period.

There are still a number of “olles” existing with traditional alley characteristics in the inner city of Jeju. As a matter of fact, the renovation of old buildings and the protection of alley space are facing a dilemma due to the existence of less than 4m-width-roads in the area of "Mu-geun-sung". This study examines the current status of alley space in "Mu-geun-sung" area; and puts forward to the potential possibility and limitation of alley space regeneration via exploring the applicable scheme of building agreement. In the field survey, a number of regions in inner city of Jeju witnesses the existing majority of invaluable, conventional olles. So as to grasp the feasibility in "Mu-geun-sung" area, we designs a simulating experiment to carry out the Building Agreement; and compares with the current development model in this area. Building Agreement implies to establish gradually a separation of land ownership under the existing unified development of landowners and users, thus to explore a variety of land exploitation systems by separating land ownership and right to use land. As a result, the deterioration of the street landscape results from the increase of building storey numbers. The damages to the surrounding environment brought by the newly built buildings will be minimized as well as keeping the maximum building volume rate. Obviously, these measures will alleviate infringement to the traditional residential sunlight and privacy space effectively, and reduce the pressure from high-rise buildings to the alley space, so that the landscape of the alley will enhance to form a more comfortable alley environment.

This study investigated the public use of Myeon Location in Jeollanam - do where the population is at risk of declining. And discussed the rational provision and coordination of public facilities as a guarantee of fundamental rights. As a result of the study, the rational supply and adjustment directions of public facilities are as follows. First, there are problems such as high availability of management, finance, shopping, and health facilities, lack of culture, leisure, community facilities, and weakening of center function. Therefore, in the continuing declining population situation, face management, safety and health facilities should be upgraded to multifunctional facilities, and utilization efficiency and integration should be promoted. In addition, town center rehabilitation should be centered on multifunctional facilities. In addition, elementary schools will have to utilize and preserve them to take advantage of local cultural values as nostalgia storing place that provide incentives for young people and elementary school children in the future. Second, in order to cope with population decline, public facilities need to strengthen public services through complexity and multifunctionality, wide-area operation with neighboring areas, and user-centered operation management.

There are many advantages to unit-care welfare facilities’ care services for the elderly in Japan. The field research was conducted after holding interviews with employees at five elderly welfare facilities in Japan. This research analyzes the space arrangement of unit-care welfare facilities in Japan’s Tohoku rural area. The purpose of this study is to provide design data on the space arrangement of a unit-care facility for Korea. The results of research are as follows. 1. Cafes, restaurants, and stores were operated in the elderly welfare facilities, which were open to the general public as well. Therefore, local residents frequently visited. 2. The kitchen, living rooms, private bedrooms and construction of the elderly welfare facilities were similar to that of normal residential houses. 3. The event hall is conveniently located at the center of the facility. 4. It was easy to understand the health status of the elderly by having a health office in the open living room. 5. There were open spaces which are frequently used by the homebound elderly, including room rehabilitation, daycare and short term residence. The above results will be used for space planning data in Korean unit-care facilities.

This study is to research the military remains of Korean War(1950~53) focused on Yeonchen, Cheorwon, and Hwacheon-gun in the central border of DMZ. The Yeoncheon-gun is installing ‘Yeolsoe’ and ‘Taepung’ observatory in the frontline battlefield adjacent to Southern Limit Line(SLL), and not only protects many military remains including war memorial and crematory facilities of UN troops, but also utilizes them as active educational places. The Cheorwon-gun is actively making known ‘Baengmagoji memorial, ‘Labor party office’ and other buildings adjacent to ‘Tourist security DMZ’, but needs to set up many monuments around battlefields of ‘Gimhwa’ and ‘Daeseongsan’ adjacent to ‘Eco-peace park DMZ’. With the battlefield of ‘Paroho’ as the center, which our troops made brilliant military gains during the war, the Hwacheon-gun protects and informs military remains such as ‘643 and 490 battlefields’, ‘Kkeomeok and Guman bridge’. Developing a network for military remains in connection with the annual local festivals, the experience tour and security will be available at these places.
