The purpose of this paper is to analysis on periodical changes of rural houses of Korean-Chinese people residing in Yanbian area, China focused on periodical changes of floor plans according to Chinese government’s policies and regulations influencing on rural houses. Changes of floor plans are classified into four periods; immigrating·settled period, 1960-1970s, 1980-1990s, and after 2000. Total number of 67 cases were analyzed that data was collected 48 cases of literature studies and 19 cases of field study in Yanbian, China. The results are as followings. In immigrating·settled period, floor plans of the rural houses have tended to be continued the pattern of the Korean traditional rural houses. Nevertheless China was changed socialism system, rarely floor plans were influenced by the system during this period. From 1960s to 1970s, the livestock and rural mechanization are influenced by the “People’s Commune” policy. The “Barn” and “Mill” were converted into “warehouse”. The residential part consists of one Jeongji (space mixed dinning and kitchen) and one to three of Ondolbang (room). From 1980s to 1990s influenced by the policies of “Cultural Revolution”, “Birth Control” and “Chinese Economic Reform”, the Korean traditional customs like “elders first” and “distinction between the male and female have been gradually vanished. Meanwhile, spaces of the rural houses have consisted of Jeongji, big Utppang (room), and warehouse. Each space is opened and mutual. Since 2000, influenced by the policy of a “new Socialist Countryside Construction”, the bathroom and kitchen are added in interior spaces, the life style in rural houses has been changed as for both the sedentary style and western style.

This study is aimed to clarify the transitional characteristics of old roads and alleys lasting more than 100 years(1 915-2015) in traditional urban area(Seongan-dong) of cheongju, historic inland and castle city of Korea. Cheongju castle had been completely destroyed In 1915, and urban structures been also altered last 100 years from 2015 now. Periodically, after destruction of castle, existing roads were extended and transformed to straight line for connecting with around. Expanding urban area to all directions of castle boundary in 1930-40s, town planning were created. These projects were completed in 1960-70s, the street network was built as they are. Since the 1980s, changes had been occurred in the details such as an extension of the unexecuted roads, the opening of fire lane in a block, and etc. In change and construction of roads, urban district plan in 1939 and reorganization since 1967 were planned and established with the type, location, and width of the large, medium and small roads based on data before destruction of castle. Except the width of 25m SajikroOarge3-1) and SangdangroOarge3-8,9,10), the width of 15m Namsaro(medium2-1) and Namjuro (medium2-4) as an extension of the roads, the other roads were small roads equivalent to the existing roads, and so remain intact figure of streetscape. As such, roads of east-west and north-south cross type, roads showing the outline of Cheongju castle fortress, and alleys outside the south gate are sustained in Seongan-dong of cheongju as historic urban area, and also present roads are delicately executed to the existing urban fabric.

Korea’s housing polices, which have tended to be focused on quantity rather than quality, have since the 1970s given rise to a housing culture centered on apartment units. Such housing polices have resulted in urban sprawl in the metropolitan areas, and a growing polarization between urban and rural areas. In addition, the issue of “dehumanization” has emerged as a result of the interchangeable urban landscapes and the growing number of high-rise residential buildings. In short, the residential communities of the past, such as towns and villages, have disappeared and been replaced with societies that value individuality and anonymity. The purpose of this paper is to analyze urban structure Gyeongju traditional housing complex. This is to analyze the traditional Hanok residential complex of superiority and characteristics of Gyeongju. This enables future planning should be introduced in Gyeongju hanok.

This research studies the adequate size standard of Seogwipo cruise terminal CIQ facility that is scheduled to be built around Gangjeong harbor area in Seogwipo-city. In order to respond to the highly increasing number of passenger cruise ships compared to Seogwipo cruise terminal design in 2010, the adequate size standard of Seogwipo cruise terminal CIQ facility was examined for passenger service level grade. Based on size computation elements such as the number of passengers of cruise ships with the largest size of port entry, ship landing rate, passenger processing ratio, and surge factor, the CIQ facility size for each service level grade was reviewed. As a result, the area of 2,971m2 (A grade), 2,409 m2 (B grade), and 2,088 m2 (C grade) were computed. This showed that the area of B grade was about 82% and C grade 70% compared to the area of A grade. The CIQ facility size computed for each service level grade in this research was analyzed that its area needed to be increased by 322% at least and 458% at most, compared to the CIQ facility area of 649m2 of the existing design (2010). In order to respond to the increasing number of cruise passengers, provide high-level passenger service, and improve the international image of Jeju, Seogwipo cruise terminal should secure the size that is equal to or higher than the B grade of service level.

The purpose of this study is to find important factors for establishment of masterplanner operating model in residents' participation regeneration project suitable for small provincial city compared with Seoul city's which were already operated these days. The study showed the following results: 1) Conditions required for masterplanners are professional, regionality, sustainability, balance, independence. 2) Regionality and professionality can be guaranteed by expert-recommendation and perform manual suitable for character of project and regional conditions. 3) Conditions required for masterplanners are applied flexibly depending on the size and duration of project.

This paper aims to find out the effective solutions for overcoming the crisis of school closure in rural villages. Fortunately, we have some relevant cases that show the important roles of local communities providing rental houses to the potential residents. This study researches eight cases of elementary schools and their communities in Jeju which have overcome the crisis by providing rental houses to the immigrants. The results are as follows. First, it is effective to provide rental houses to prevent school closure crisis. Second, it is highly recommended to consider advancing schools for students and to offer possible jobs for their parents in order to make sustainable schools and communities. Third, in addition to the treatments for overcoming crisis of school closure, comprehensive measurements for improving new residents’ quality of lives along with the collaboration between schools and communities, relations between natives and immigrants, and financial aids from central and local government should be implemented.

Recently as return farmers has been increased rapidly, the introduction of a system of rental housing is being considerated in order to induce regional fixation. It was examined organizational management, business scope of rural type rental housing, management role, through the analysis about the management realities of the business of similar form Rural-Fishing New Town project. Jangseonggun and Hwasungun have maneged rental housing 280ho in Rural-Fishing New Town project. It is large village among Rural Rental Housing. And these counties have organized the complex on a large scale among the rental housing. Local governments have managed and operated directly, also these governments have two different methods for the co-management, and the way of making payment. Rental housing management services are divided into rental management, housing management, tenant management. Rental management services such as residents of recruitment, tenants and retreat, rent collection and the storage, management and leasing promotion of the cantilever, surveys of residents. Housing management services such as check of various facilities, maintenance and maintenance work, security and cleaning and daily facility management. Tenant management is life management in connection with housing welfare. In the rural type of rental housing, there are few cases to operate a management office. It is often supplied by rental housing to buy a house or vacant land within the existing village. In this case, by utilizing community facilities within the existing village instead of establishment of extra facilities,It doesn't need to make payment for maintenance fee. In the smaller complex than No. 20, it is self-managed by the tenants in order to reduce the administrative costs and specify the necessary municipal manager. Organization form can be maneged directly from local governments and part of for the management of the building can be employed a mixed management system to delegate management to private organizations such as non-profit organizations or neighborhood association. Tenant management helps people who move in a rental house live on stable circumstance in there area by connection with the program of life support.

Recently, the rural village development projects are proceeding as enhancement of the rural landscape as the interest toward rural tourism and rural immigrant has increased. However, the projects are solely to support construction of community space and there has been a lack of community facility remodeling in term of both deterioration facilities and abandoned facilities. Thus in this study proposes rural community facility remodeling process to utilize remodeling of rural deterioration facilities and abandoned facilities. For setting rural community remodeling process, this study analysed preceding research data and suggested rural community remodeling process stage ; planning, spacial resolution, remodeling factor analysis, implementation, maintenance control, based on research data. For systematic performed this process, this study regulated role of local resident, expert and local government on remodeling process stage.

This paper analyses connecting space of the 'ㅁ' shaped houses from Chosun Dynasty, Korea. Houses are reflected by various factors such as shapes, locations and territoriality by the social class system. Because of their spatial arrangements, 'ㅁ' shaped houses might have various planning approaches. This paper looks at Sarang-chae and An-chae, which are the common elements of the houses, and analyses their architectural characteristics in spatial arrangements and territoriality. The territoriality was formed by the combination of Chae and Madang. The spatial arrangement was formed by the social norms of its time. Hengrang-chae and Dam-jang, which were located in-between Chae and Madang, limit territoriality by providing privacy and interrupting the circulation.

The aim of this study is to provide readers with the development strategies in terms of the Ancient Capital Plan through its status analysis and field survey. In particular, This study is expected to contribute to establish reasonable policies and prepare with development strategies of ancient capital Buyeo. The followings are specific conclusions : Firstly, Ancient Capital Preservation Plan and boundaries of district designation should be reasonably adjusted. Secondly, The relevant Act Ancient Capital Preservation and Promotion should be revised corresponding to the present state. Thirdly, exclusive organization should be established and kept consistently to produce experts. Fourthly, strategies for revitalizing Historical and Cultural Environment are required for the future. Fifthly, it should be mentioned how Cultural heritage and people in region should co-exist. Therefore life benefit and welfare for the peoples should follow. Sixthly, the commercial environment and cultural tourism environment should be improved.
