Paper angle, environment friendly packaging material, has been mainly used as an edge protector. But, we have perceived its application to package design of heavy product such as strength reinforcement or unit load system (ULS) in the future. Above all, understanding of buckling behavior for angle itself and compression strength and quality standard have to be accomplished for the paper angle to be used for this purpose. The purpose of this study was to elucidate the buckling behavior through theoretical and finite element analysis, and to develop compression strength model by compression test for symetric and asymetric paper angle. Based on the result of theoretical and finite element analysis, increasing rate of buckling of asymmetric paper angle was higher as applied load level was bigger and/or the length of angle was longer than that of symmetric paper angle. Decreasing rate of minimum principal moment of inertia was remarkably increased as the extent of asymmetric angle is bigger, and buckling orientation of angle was open direction near the small web. Increasing rate of maximum compression strength (MCS) for thickness of angle was smaller as the web size was bigger in symmetric angle. MCS of asymmetric angle of 43×57 and 33×67 was decreased 15~18% and 65~78%, and change of buckling was increased 12~13% and 62~66%, respectively.

Fruits are subjected to complex dynamic stresses in the transportation environment. During a long journey form the production area to markets, there is always some degree of vibration present. Vibration inputs are transmitted from the vehicle through the packaging to the fruit. Inside, these cause sustained bouncing of fruits against each other and container wall. These steady state vibration input may cause serious fruit injury, and this damage is particularly severe whenever the fruit inside the package is free to bounce, and is vibrated at its resonance frequency. The determination of the resonant frequencies of the fruit may help the packaging designer to determine the proper packaging system providing adequate protection for the fruit, and to understand the complex interaction between the components of fruit when they relate to expected transportation vibration inputs. The first frequency of the pear in packaged freight be stacked in resonance frequency band of the pear packaged freight was increased from the bottom to the top of the stack but the second frequency of that in resonance frequency band of the pear was decreased. This indicated that the high damage score of the pear in bottom tier in vibration test was due to higher acceleration level in resonance frequency band of the pear.

During handling unitized products, they are subjected to a variety environmental hazards. Shock and vibration hazards are generally considered the most damaging of the environmental hazards on a product, and it may encounter while passing through the distribution environment. A major cause of shock damage to products is drops during manual handling. The increasing use of unitization on pallets has been resulted in a reduction in the manual handling of products and with it a reduction in the shock hazards. This has caused and increasing interest in research focused on vibration caused damage. the use of pallets as a base for unitizing loads, aids in the mechanical handling, transportation and storage of products. Besides aiding in the handling, transportation and storage of products, a pallet also acts on and interface between the packaged goods and the distribution environment. The determination of the impact deformation of the cushioning materials such as tray cup (polymeric foam) and corrugated fiberboard pad must be carried out to design the proper packaging system providing adequate protection for the fruit, and to understand the complex interaction between the components of fruit when they relate to expected transportation vibration inputs. In this study, the theoretical analysis of impact deformation for cushioning materials by dynamic vibration. The impact deformations of SW and DW corrugated fiberboard pad in acceleration amplitudes of 0.25 G-rms and 0.5 G-rms that were usually generated in transport vehicles during distribution environments were very small compare with the thickness of corrugated fiberboard pad. The maximum of vibration acceleration level of tray cup by vibration impact was about 3.2 G-rms. The theoretical allowable acceleration (G-factor) of the pear was 0.7102 G-rms, and the maximum dynamic deformation estimated within G-factor was about 1 mm.

국내 패키징 산업 현황과 방향

This study was conducted in 2005 to investigate the current status of total packaging industries in Korea. The trends in development of the packaging industry were observed and interpreted as several factors such as the number of packaging industries, the number of employee in packaging industries, size, employee salary, and locations of packaging industry. The number of companies showed the increase of 6.3% per year until 2002 compared to 2175 companies at packaging industry in 1991. Based on the data of the number of companies to produce packaging materials, the packaging companies for plastic, metal, and wood were rapidly increased up to over 9%, whereas the glass and paper companies were only increased in 2%. The number of paper, plastic, wood, and packaging machine companies located at Seoul in 2002 was showed the great reduction, except to glass company compared to the number of the packaging industries in 1993 according to location of the company. Value added per employee in total packaging material industries were showed about 53-thousand dollars in 2002. These values were showed about 64.5% for total manufacture industries and increased to 8.1% from 1991 to 2002.

This study was carried out for effective utilization of recycling resources to investigate the repulping conditions of car air filter waste paper and to evaluate the application into corrugating medium papermaking by blending these repulped pulps. Car air filter waste paper was made of virgin BKP and it was dipped into phenol resin solution. It was well disintegrated by laboratory Valley beater with 10%(basis on oven-dried pulp weight) NaOH addition and defoamer usage. The optimal temperature, beating consistency and treatment time were mainly 40℃, 1% and $30{\sim}40$ minutes, respectively. Handsheets were prepared with various blending ratios between air filter recycled pulp and KOCC. In the case of 10~20% substitution with air filter recycled pulp, physical properties reductions as compressive strength and burst strength of sheets were lower than others. These results showed more favour than the partial substitution of KOCC for corrugating medium even though some strength reduction of paper. It was also observed that the waste water of air filter recycling was not affective to environmental problems.

For both economic and ecological reasons corrugated box manufacturers are seeking to produce acceptably strong boxes while using more recycled paper. This study was to develop hydrophilic coating agents in order to improve overall physical properties of recycled corrugated fiberboard liners. Two coating agents were developed and applied to ``S`` corrugating medium. The results showed that compression strength of new liners, named ``S-A`` and ``S-B``, were increased significantly both standard humidity and high humidity environment and it was as much as ``SK`` liner. New developed liners were also economically advantageous since new liners were estimated about one hundred fifty dollars per ton cheaper than SK liner. The study indicated that further work is needed on the coating technology and machine development.

The wasted plastic PC/ABS retainer, polyurethane foam (PUF) and vinyl (PVC) skin. In order to investigate the recycling process, the multi-layered instrument panel Each of materials separated was shredded and crushed to create many small particles respectively. The separation of the foam and skin and retainer of zigzagged air blower. Pilot tests performed at the equipment yielded 98.8% by weight of the available PVC and 99.3% by weight of the available PC/ABS respectively. Secondly, the thermal stabilizer and the compatabilizer have been used to improve the physical propertied of recycled materials.. The properties of recycled PVC materials resulted in about 50% compared to that of virgin materials after treatment by Pb-St thermal stabilizer. In addition, the properties of recycled PC/ABS materials was also obtained about 80% compared to that of virgn materials after treatment by PMMA compatabilizer.

Titanoalumino silicalite (TAS) was prepared hydrothermally, and the effects of synthesis parameters such as silica/alumina sources, $SiO_2/TiO2 ratio, and aging treatment were investigated. The structure, crystal size, and shape were examined by XRD and SEM, and the extent of titanium incorporation into the zeolite framework was examined using UV-vis DRS spectroscopy. For TAS preparation, aging of ca. 24h was essential, and the faster crystallization rates were achieved with Cab-O-Sil than with Ludox or TEOS as a silica source. In addition, the higher crystallinity and faster crystallization rate were obtained using sodium aluminate as an aluminum source.
