PVA/메틸셀루로스 블랜드의 상용성에 관한 연구

The state of compatability of poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) and methyl cellulose(MC), prepared by an aqueous solution casting, were investigated over the entire compositions by dynamical mechanical analyzer(DMA) and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC). The glass transition temperatures of the blends, estimated by DMA, indicate that the blends of PVA and MC showed a definite degree of partial miscibility by showing two glass transition temperatures below 80 wt % MC contents in the blends and one glass transition temperature above 80 wt % of MC contents. The DSC results show a depression of melting point and crystallization temperature of PVA in the blends containing more than 80 wt % MC. This indicates that a considerable compatibility in the blend above 80 wt % MC contents may be attribute to the presence of interaction of hydroxyl groups of component polymers through hydrogen bonding. The DMA study of the effect of plasticizer on the polymers showed that water was a good plasticizer for PVA and PEG400 for MC. The addition of water and PEG400 in the blends showed a synergic plasticizing effect on these blends, which resulted in the large extent of the improvement of the compatibility. The elongation of PVA, MC and blonds was found to increase with addition of PEG400 in the blends, but the tensile strength to decrease with addition of plasticizer.

비지 단백질로 제조한 가식성필름의 기계적 및 물질투과특성

두부생산시 부산물로 다량 생산되는 두부비지를 효과적으로 이용하기 위해 이로부터 가식성 필름을 제조하였으며, 가소제로서 glycerol과 sorbitol을 사용하였을때 필름형성용액의 pH와 가소제의 농도가 가식성필름의 기계적특성(인장강도와 신장률), 수분투과도, 산소투과도 및 유지투과도에 미치는 영향에 대하여 조사하였다. 건조하지 않은 두부비지에 10배의 물을 가하여 pH 11에서 1시간동안 교반하면서 단백질을 추출한 후, 등전점(pH 4.3) 처리하고 동결건조하여 농축단백질 시료를 만들고, 이로부터 solution casting 법으로 가식성필름을 제조하였다. 필름용액의 pH를 10으로 조절하여 제조한 가식성필름의 인장강도와 신장률이 우수한 것으로 나타났으며, 제조된 가식성필름의 인장강도는 가소제의 농도가 증가함에 따라 15.0 MPa에서 2.9 MPa로 감소하였으며 특히 sorbitol을 첨가하였을 때 가장 높은 인장강도와 신장률을 보였으며. 수분투과도는 첨가된 가소제의 양과 종류에 따라 $0.48{\sim}0.83nm{\cdot}m/m^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}Pa$의 범위를 보였으며 많은 양의 가소제가 사용될수록 수분투과도가 높았다. 또한 가소제로서 sorbitol을 사용하였을 때가 glycerol을 사용하였을 때보다 수분투과에 대한 차단효과가 전 가소제 농도 범위 ($0.4{\sim}0.8g$ plasticizer/g protein)에 걸쳐 우수하였다. 또한 이들 필름들은 낮은 산소투과도($29.5~61.1aL{\cdot}m/m^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}Pa$)와 유지투과도를 보여 산소와 유지의 투과에 대한 차단성이 높은 것으로 나타났다.

Edible films were prepared from proteins extracted from soybean curd residue by alkaline extraction and isoelectric precipitation. Effects of film forming solution pH and plasticizers on mechanical and barrier properties of edible films were studied. films were formed within pH $7{\sim}11$ with tensile strength (TS) of 2.9~3.3 MPa. Films produced under pH 10 had the highest TS and Elongation (E) (3.3 MPa and 60.1%) but no significant difference was observed among water vapor permeabilities (WVP) of film. Glycerol, sorbitol and its mixture (1:1, w/w) were added as plasticizers. The concentration and mixing ratio of plasticizers also affected the TS, E and WVP of films. TS of films decreased from 15.0 MPa to 2.9 MPa as plasticizer concentration increased from 0.4 to 0.8 g plasticizer/g protein. At a plasticizer concentration, the highest TS was observed when sorbitol was used whereas the highest E was measured when mixture of glycerol and sorbitol was used as plasticizer WVP of films increased as the plasticizer concentration increased. Films plasticized with glycerol showed the highest WVP among the films with the same plasticizer concentrations. Edible films prepared from soybean curd residue protein showed very low oxygen permeabilities ($29.5~61.1aL{\cdot}m/m^2{\cdot}s{\cdot}Pa$) and oil resistance at all plasticizer concentration level tested.

Top-to-bottom compression strength of corrugated fiberboard boxes is partly dependent on the load-carrying ability of the central panel areas. The ability of these central areas to resist bending under load will increase the stacking strength of the box. The difference of box compression strengths, among boxes which are made with identical dimensions and fabricated with same components but different flute sizes, is primarily due to difference of the flexural stiffness of the box panels. Top-to-bottom compression strength of a box is accurately predicted by flexural stiffness measurements and the edge crush test of the combined boards. This study was rallied out to analyze the flexural stiffness, maximum bending force and maximum deflection for various corrugated fiber-boards by experimental investigation. There were significant differences between the machine direction (MD) and the cross-machine direction (CD) of corrugated fiberboards tested. It was about 50% in SW and DW, and $62%{\sim}74%$ in dual-medium corrugated fiberboards(e.g. DM, DMA and DMB), respectively. There were no significant differences of maximum deflection in machine direction among the tested fiberboards but, in cross direction, DM showed the highest value and followed by SW, DMA, DMB and DW in order. For the corrugated fiberboards tested, flexural stiffness in machine direction is about $29%{\sim}48%$ larger than cross direction, and difference of flexural stiffness between the two direction is the lowest in DMA and DMB.

황동제 주방기구에서 유해중금속의 용출기작에 관한연구

구이용 불판인 주방용 기구에 사용되는 황동제에서 Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn, Sn등 유해 중금속의 용출과 메카니즘에 대하여 연구하였다. 황동을 대표금속으로 선정하여 용출 온도 (30, 60, 80, 95℃), pH (2.5, 4.3, 6.0, 7.0) 및 시간 (30, 90, 180, 360분)에 따른 금속 용출량 조사에서 온도 및 pH 변화에 따른 시험결과, 95℃, pH 2.5인 조건에서 용출이 가장 많았던 반면, 용출 시간별 시험에서는 180분 이후까지 Pb가 용출된 후 평형 상태를 유지하였다. 납이 용출되는 가시적 현상은 SEM을 통하여 확인할 수 있었다. 황동의 경우, 재질중의 Pb 함량과 용출량과의 관계를 규명하기 위해 Pb 함량별 10종 (0, 0.02, 0.09, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 0.9, 1.7, 5.4, 9.2%(w/w))의 시편를 제작하여 4% 초산, 95℃, 30분에서 시험한 결과, 용출규격인 중금속이 1.0 ppm (납으로서) 이하가 되기 위해서는 재질중 허용 Pb 함량은 0.2% 이하가 되어야 했다.

The migration mechanism of trace elements, Pb, Cd, Cu, Zn and Sn from brass food-contact utensiles was investigated. The migration of metals from brass was affected by the migration temperature (30, 60, 80 and 95℃), the simulant pH (2.5, 4.3, 6.0 and 7.0) and the migration time (30, 90, 180 and 360 min.). The amount of Pb migration was maximum at 95℃ with pH 2.5. This study indicated that the equilibrium of Pb migration was reached at 180 minutes. The mechanism of Pb migration was investigated with Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Electron Probe Micro Analyzer (EPMA). To correlate the relations between the migration and the content of Pb in brass samples, ten brass samples having known content of Pb (the quantities of Pb in brass ; 0, 0.02, 0.09, 0.1, 0.2, 0.5, 0.9, 1.4, 5.4 and 9.2% (w/w)) were tested in the following conditions, 4% acetic acid, 95℃ and 30 minutes. The result represented that content of Pb in brass samples must be below 0.2% (w/w) to satisfy the 1.0 ppm (as Pb) of Korea Food Code.

항균기능정보가 각인된 플라스틱 저장용기의 항균 특성에 관한 연구

본 연구에서는 새로운 개념의 항균처리 기술을 도입하여 항균 물질을 플라스틱 용기에 혼입하지 않고도 항균기능이 발휘되도록 하는 기술을 개발하고자 하였다. 기술의 요체는 항균기능정보를 물에 각인한 다음에 이를 플라스틱 제조용 원료 수지에 전사하여 최종 제품에서도 같은 기능이 나타나도록 한 것이다. 이러한 개념에 입각한 기능 정보 각인 기술의 실용화 가능성을 검토하기 위하여 시제품을 만들어 항균 실험을 수행한 결과 세균 증식 억제율이 75% 전후의 수준인 것으로 나타났다. 앞으로 이러한 기술이 보다 더 다듬어지고 그 작용기전이 밝혀진다면 더욱 뛰어난 제품이 개발될 가능성이 높다고 하겠다.

To enhance antibiotic function of plastic containers, many methods have been applied. Most of the methods utilize antibiotic properties of antibiotic substances such as silver containing chemicals. Sometimes antibiotic substances are used without long term stability test as food container additives. Basically, this kind of methods is not safe since it is based on the antibiotic properties of the material itself and hence direct contact between food and container additives is unavoidable to obtain antibiotic effect. In this paper, a new concept of information templation was applied to make food containers with antibiotic function. It has been known recently that water memorize informations and this information could be tempelated to other materials through appropriate methods. One of the participating company developed this method to template informations onto plastic materials. Food containers were produced using this plastic chips and experimental results showed that antibiotic functional information temptation method is effective for practical application. Results and discussions are reported in this paper.

This study was carried out to investigate improvement of kraft paper sack mixed with recycled paper for sugars and assorted feeds. Four Plies of kraft paper mixed with recycled paper(basis weight : $80g/m^2$) were taken place of two plies of kraft paper made from all pulp(basis weight : $98g/m^2$) and one ply of kraft paper mixed with recycled paper(basis weight : $80g/m^2$) for sugar 30kg. Three Plies of kraft paper mixed with recycled paper(basis weight : $80g/m^2$) were taken place of two plies of kraft paper made from all pulp(basis weight $98g/m^2$) for sugar 15kg and assorted feed 25kg. Physical properties, tensile strength, internal tearing strength and bursting strength, were improved by exchanging kraft paper mixed with recycled paper for kraft paper from all pulp and so kraft paper sacks made from all pulp were no damage in handling. They had so high friction coefficient that there was no danger of collapse on pallet by slipperiness in transportation and handling. And they had high printability so disappearance of printing by the contact with other paper sack in transportation was not found.

Packaging materials and articles that are used in food contact applications can transfer constituents in the foodstuffs. This kind of risk of possible health hazards to consumers has been generally recognized for a long time with the consequence of establishing corresponding food regulations in most developed countries. However, the language of these laws, their interpretation, and their level of enforcement vary from country to country. Accordingly, the actual migrating levels from packaging materials can be varied depending on the migration testing methods as prescribed in the national legislation in each countries. Therefore, there are needs of elimination of non-tariff trade barriers raised by sanitary and phytosanitary or technical measures under the Final Act of the UR Agreement. In this connection, the EU and USA are currently in an ongoing process of legislation harmonization to overcome potential barriers to free trade. In general, regulations governing component transfer in the USA are more complicated and comprehensive than similar regulations in Europe. In future, standard migration testing procedures for microwave heat susceptor materials and for the use of fatty food simulant should be established and also harmonized among countries. The objective of this investigation is to compare the current regulations for migration testing for plastic containers and packaging materials in USA, EU and Korea or Japan. For those regulations, Korean standards are required to be kept up with the international standards. By doing this, the related Korean regulation could be amended along with the worldwide progress for harmonization.

After reported that Styrene dimer and Styrene trimer was Endocrine Disrupter, if it was a fact or not, the sales of PSP noodle cup was rapidly decreased and social responsibilities of the substitution materials development was raised. Therefore we had studied many materials like paper, pulp mold, PP injection molding, PP lamination, etc as substitution materials and selected paper cup which was safe in many sides and easy to recycle. Mainly we had checked the shape, safety, stability and recycling possibility of paper cup and secured many data which could prove them.
