This study was to renew conceptual definition of exercise rehabilitation with the changes of the times and explore possibility of exercise rehabilitation as multidisciplinary research. There is a rising interest on health in modern society. A great deal of research is being carried out to discover psychological & social health as well as physical health. World Health Organization(WHO) defined health is "a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and merely the absence of disease or infirmity". Therefore, studies on multi-dimensional health are needed and multidisciplinary research become accepted as an effective means. Korean Society of Exercise Rehabilitation consist of 9 branches that is physical education(humane studies & science), social welfare, nursing, public health, nutrition, physical therapy, psychology, special(exercise), medicine(rehabilitation). So, Korean Society of Exercise Rehabilitation is suitable for multidisciplinary research and multidisciplinary research is strongly recommended for new research method nowadays. After careful consideration of multidisciplinary research trend in Korean Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation until now 2012, 32 among 261 research papers(about 12%) were multidisciplinary research and insufficient. Multidisciplinary research is to realize thinking and theory and develop various procedures and programs. In the future, Korean Journal of Exercise Rehabilitation demand a great deal of multidisciplinary research according to Korean Society of Exercise Rehabilitation conditions.

In this study, we reviewed the therapeutic effects of horseback riding on the various diseases. In general, the movement of the horse has been used to alleviate physical and mental impairments of the clients. The therapeutic horse is one of the most warm, flexible, and responsive animals for humans. Its walking has similar physiological mechanism as the human walking. Adjusting of rider's body to horse's walking rhythm through striving to maintain balance causes alternative contraction and relaxation of the muscles, particularly in the trunk, spine, hip, and pelvis. The most important effect of therapeutic horseback riding is its' strong driving action on motivation for the mental and physical achievements. From many studies, therapeutic horseback riding showed effectiveness on the neuromuscular diseases, cerebral palsy, mental retardation, autism, and attention deficit disorders. Moreover, horse riding therapy ameliorates cognitive dysfunction, mediates emothonal unbalance, and also enhances the socialization. Studies on the efficacies of therapeutic horseback riding can open new horizon of the therapeutic programs for the cureless diseases.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of suspension exercise on visual analogue scale (VAS), and isokinetic torque in chronic lower back pain (LBP) patients after 4 weeks. The thirty female subjects aged between 20 and 22 years (mean 20.76 years) were recruited from the H University in Korea. The subjects were randomly divided into three groups : the Supine group (0°G; n=10), the suspension 30° group (30°G; n=10), and the suspension 60° group (60°G; n=10), respectively. Each group completed a 3-minute × 3-set, 3 days/1 week for 4 weeks suspension exercise protocol at 0°, suspended -30°, or suspended -60°, respectively. Prior to comparison of VAS and isokinetic torque variables in 60°/s, the one-way ANOVA was performed for comparison of the anthropometric data among 3 groups. And then to examine the differences of the variables of 0°G, 30°G, and 60°G, a 3×2 mixed-model analysis of variance was completed. Also, we gained delta % between pre- and post-data. These delta % analyzed through non-parametric Kruscal-Wallis test and Scheffe' post hoc test. In the present results, suspension exercise were significantly decreased the expression of VAS parameters, and much more suppressed the expression of VAS parameters in the 60°G. In the isokinetic torque, suspension exercise were significantly increased the extensor peak torque (PT) and peak torque % body weight (PTBW), and much more enhanced the PT and PTBW in the 60°G. From our results, it can be inferred that suspension exercise can provide the protective LBP effect against LBP-induced pain and decreased isokinetic toque in extensor ability of LBP patients. Thus, the -60° suspension exercise is recommended for patients with chronic LBP.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of the blended learning method in a badminton class for an effective healthy activity. Total 20 college students who took the badminton class were allocated to blended learning group (n=10) and off-line group (n=10). After a badminton class for 9 weeks, the class satisfaction, thought, opinion, and “High Clear” skill improvement were evaluated using a pre- and post-test method. The results were as follows: First, the extent of class satisfaction and “High Clear” skill improvement appears to be higher in the blended learning group than in off-line group. This result indicates that the blended learning may prevent the decrease in learning efficiency that occurred in the off-line class due to many students’ participation. It appears that the effective allocation for the on-line or off-line class results in a similar learning effect, even though the students don't perform any physical activity. Second, it seems that the general thought and opinion for the class was positive in both the blended learning group and the off-line group. In particular, the students who learned the “High Clear” skill through a blended learning method were very affirmative of the effect of the on-line class. Finally, we suggest that the blended learning strategies may solve the safety problem that occurred due to the large numbers of students and the narrowness of the practice space in the badminton class, and be helpful in improving motor skill even without actual physical activity.

This paper is for patients who have chronic back pain and will demonstrate the effects of established applications of acupoints in conjunction with muscle energy techniques(MET) by using SPSS. Backache causes a lot of pain for modern age people. Even though muscle energy techniques have been regarded and utilized as an effective method to treat chronic backache, little study has been done on the efficiencies surrounding this type of treatment. We will study the connection between MET treatment and the cross-functional relationship with acupuncture. Using the test group composed of 60 patients who visited our clinic; we constructed three groups and initiated MET treatment several times. The sample groups were A(=only MET treatment), B(=MET treatment after distal acupoint treatment) and C(=MET treatment after distal local treatment). Group A only received MET treatment, Group B was treated using both MET and local acupoints, with group C receiving distal acupoints treatment concurrent with MET. We used ROM, VAS(=visual analogue scale score) and TRV Test to compare the results after the treatment with data gathered prior to the treatment of the entire test samples. The tests demonstrate that MET with distal acupoints is the most effective in suppressing pain, restoring function, and strengthening muscles, while MET with local acupoints failed to show any significant difference from the result of MET only.
