In the development of eco-friendly vehicles such as electric vehicles, weight reduction has become a very important design target. Seat weight reduction is very important in vehicle weight reduction. In this study, the energy absorption characteristics of Almag material, an alloy of aluminum and magnesium, and mild steel SAFH440, SAFH590, SAFC780, and SAFH980 were analyzed to obtain a true stress versus true strain curve that was correlated with the test. By performing the seat frame structure analysis using the obtained analysis material property, it was possible to compare the deformation between lightweight material, Almag and mild steel materials. In addition, it was confirmed that the weight reduction effect was 25.8% when applying Almag, an equivalent lightweight material that gives the same maximum deformation as SAFH980, a high-strength mild steel.

We introduce the technology required todevelop a bracket process for installing and verifying FRT bumper sensors for passenger cars. Establish and demonstrate process automation through actual design and manufaturing. We conduct quality inspection of the production process using artificial intelligence and develop technology to automatically detect good and defective products and increase the reliability of the process.

In the past, aviation technology developed from wood to alloys to composite materials. Propellers have also evolved from wood to composite materials for modern small aircraft. In this context, research is needed on a three-blade composite propeller based on the Rotax 912 engine, which is widely used in Korea. In this study, the goal is to select the optimal propeller pitch angle by investigating noise changes according to changes in blade angle and engine 4000RPM of three types of three-blade propellers different from each propeller manufacturer. By comparing the noise of the three types of propellers most commonly used in Korea and suggesting the minimum noise blade angle for each propeller, we aim to help aircraft operators select propellers and resolve noise complaints around airfields.

세계적인 환경 규제로 인해 마그네슘 합금과 같은 경량 소재에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있으며, 마그네슘 합금 소재의 다양한 산업계 적용을 위한 용접 및 접합 방식에 대한 연구도 지속적으로 수행되고 있다. 앞선 Part I 연구에서는 마그네슘 합금에 대한 파이버 레이저 Bead on Plate(BOP) 실험을 수행하여 맞대기 용접 조건의 확보를 위한 기초 연구를 수행하였으며, 본 연구에서는 Part I의 기초 BOP 실험에서 도출된 적합한 레이저 출력과 용접 속도를 바탕으로 두께 3mm의 AZ31B 마그네슘 합금에 대해 맞대기 용접을 시행하였고, 인장시험 및 경도시험을 수행한 후 기계 물성 데이터를 분석하였다. 분석 결과 레이저 출력 2.0 kW, 50 mm/s (Heat input)의 조건에서 항복강도 151.5 MPa, 인장강도 224.1 Mpa으로 우수한 인장, 항복강도를 얻을 수 있었다.

Recently injection mold processing is necessary for the development of efficient solar concentrator system with a Fresnel lenses. Heat transfer mechanism in the Fresnel lens manufacturing process have a significant influence on precision machining and optical performance of solar power generation. In this study, we analyzed the thermal characteristics of temperature and heat flux distributions near the lens for transient molding process using CFD method. Initially for one second fast temperature variation on the upper surface of the lens leads to high heat flux distribution. It is gradually cooled to around 128℃ over a period of 60 seconds which is largely affected by the mold structure and the characteristics of the cooling lines. There is also high heat flux occurred on the lens upper side and lower surfaces with rapid temperature change. These results can be applied as fundamental design data for the manufacturing process in the development of Fresnel lenses.

In this paper, a shot peening was conducted to improve fatigue life by increasing resistance to hydrogen embrittlement of STS316 steel, which is widely used in hydrogen environments. First, considering the efficiency of the shot peening process, an effective Almen intensity was selected and applied to the specimen surface. Second, the specimen was hydrogen embrittled at room temperature (25°C) and high temperature (60°C) using electrochemical hydrogen charging. Third, the mechanical property tests (tensile, hardness, roughness) and 4-points rotational bending fatigue tests of the specimen were performed. All mechanical properties decreased, but the fatigue life of the shot peened specimens improved at the both temperature conditions. Ultimately, the fatigue characteristics against hydrogen embrittlement of STS316 steel, which is used in various industrial fields, are improved through an effective shot peening process, and the effect is believed to be very significant.

WAAM(Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing) has gained attention as an innovative technology in small-batch, multi-product production due to its advantages of low production costs, rapid build rates, and design flexibility. However, challenges such as relatively low geometric accuracy, surface finish defects, residual stresses, and distortion due to high heat input persist and require improvement. This study analyzes the influence of deposition path angles on deposition performance in the WAAM process. Experiments were conducted using stainless steel (STS309MoL) wire, known for its excellent heat resistance and corrosion resistance due to its relatively high ferrite content within the austenitic structure. To mitigate residual stresses and distortion caused by high heat input, the CMT(Cold Metal Transfer) process was employed for five layers of deposition. Five different deposition path angles were selected as process variables, and the impact of deposition path angles on deposition performance was evaluated based on experimental results.

In this study, we developed a new electric low-height beds mechanism with a stable driven rack and pinion by analyzing the current state of existing beds development and supplementing shortcomings of the beds. Structural safety is evaluated through Finite-Element-Analysis using a simulation method applying existing elevate system types and a new type. Furthermore, we designed and manufactured a trial bed with increased variable height considering medical instrument standards to use both for home and hospital. The elevation mechanism suggested in this study could be valuable to electric beds development.

This study is about the optical properties of InP-based quantum dot nanoparticles depending on their core/shell structure. The need to synthesize non-cadmium-based quantum dot nanoparticles with high quantum efficiency has become necessary due to the harmful effects of the element cadmium. We synthesized three types of quantum dot nanoparticles in 2000ml three-necked flasks by varying the synthesis temperature and time to have the same PL spectra according to the composition of the core and shell. The PL spectra, absolute quantum efficiency, and nanoparticle size were compared and analyzed according to the composition at red emission wavelengths of 614, 616, and 630 nm. InP/ZnSe/ZnS nanoparticles were synthesized with the highest PL-AQY of 94% at 614 μm, and Ga-doped InP/GaP/ZnSe/ZnS nanoparticles were synthesized with the highest PL-AQY of 97% at 616 μm. InZnP/ZnSe/ZnS nanoparticles with alloy cores were able to synthesize quantum dot nanoparticles with a peak PL-AQY of 98% at 630μm.

Handling imbalanced datasets in binary classification, especially in employment big data, is challenging. Traditional methods like oversampling and undersampling have limitations. This paper integrates TabNet and Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs) to address class imbalance. The generator creates synthetic samples for the minority class, and the discriminator, using TabNet, ensures authenticity. Evaluations on benchmark datasets show significant improvements in accuracy, precision, recall, and F1-score for the minority class, outperforming traditional methods. This integration offers a robust solution for imbalanced datasets in employment big data, leading to fairer and more effective predictive models.

Advancements in technology for large aircraft have led to the development of new materials for aviation. Traditional alloy-based components in aircraft, once prevalent, are now being replaced by composite materials that offer superior performance in terms of strength and operational limits. Notably, propellers have evolved from wood to composite materials, finding application in contemporary small aircraft. In this context, there is a need for research on the composite propellers of the 3-blade "W Company," based on the widely used Rotax 914 engine in South Korea. This study aims to investigate the changes in noise and thrust corresponding to variations in propeller blade angles and engine RPM, with the goal of selecting the optimal propeller pitch angle. Particularly, the "W Company's" propellers are durable and cost-effective, widely adopted in domestic aircraft. The research seeks to propose an effective method to minimize noise while maintaining the necessary thrust, contributing to the smooth operation of aircraft and promoting coexistence with local communities.

Wall-embedded ventilators, which are commonly used for ventilation of buildings, greatly damage the aesthetics of the building due to pollutants such as dust and grease sticking to the fan and gaps of the ventilator as the period of use increases. For this aesthetic reason, it is often installed in a place that is not easily visible to people, and if the ventilation fan is not properly arranged and installed, it is difficult to maintain indoor air in an optimal state. In this study, the effect of the arrangement of ventilators on indoor ventilation performance was investigated. Comparisons were made between the case where three ventilators were concentrated and the case where they were spaced apart at regular intervals. It was found that the ventilation performance was different depending on the location where the ventilators were installed.

In the present study, a calorimeter was used to experimentally investigate the cooling capacity and COP changes according to the pipe length of a variable capacity A/C system with long pipes. Cooling capacity, COP, and compressor discharge temperature were obtained by changing pipe length and loading duty. And the operation status and cycle change process of the A/C system were investigated using some experimental data and P-h diagrams. In long pipes, the pressure drop increases and the operating load on the compressor increases. Additionally, at the same loading duty, cooling capacity and COP decrease and the compressor discharge temperature increases. As loading duty increases, cooling capacity and compressor power consumption increase. Since the temperature deviation between the experimental value and the correlation equation for the discharge temperature of the long-pipe compressor shows a maximum of 10.5℃(50m, L/D : 20/0), the existing correlation equation needs to be modified.

This paper aims to study the modeling and controller of an electrically driven tractor optimized for energy efficiency under off-road conditions and when subjected to loads such as plowing. The dynamic model design is aimed at a 30kW electric tractor. The vehicle model consists of a 30kW motor, transmission, wheels, and a controller, designed using the commercial software Matlab/Simulink. In order to optimize energy efficiency under load conditions, this paper designs and implements a PID controller focusing on the vehicle's speed and wheel slip. The newly proposed electric tractor modeling and PID controller aim to demonstrate improved energy efficiency through simulation.

The design variables and material properties as well as the external loads concerned with structural engineering are used to be deterministic in optimization process. These values, however, have variability from expected performance. Therefore, deterministic optimum designs that are obtained without taking these uncertainty into account could lead to unreliable designs, which necessitates the Reliability-Based Design Optimization(RBDO). RBDO involves an evaluation of probabilistic constraints which constitutes another optimization procedure. So, an expensive computational cost is required. Therefore, how to decrease the computational cost has been an important challenge in the RBDO research field. Approximation models, response surface model and Kriging model, are employed to improve an efficiency of the RBDO.

We investigated the cause of liquid crystal alignment when an ion beam is irradiated to the liquid crystal(LC) alignment film for liquid crystal alignment. We investigated liquid crystal alignment in response to changes in ion beam (IB) incident angle and electro-optical (EO) properties of twisted nematic (TN)-liquid crystal displays (LCDs) on polyimide (PI) surface. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy(XPS) analysis showed that the C=O chemical bond strength decreased with changes in the IB incident angle, while the C-O chemical bond strength increased. Therefore, it was found that the dipole-dipole interaction between C-O chemical bonds and LC molecules has a chemical ordering effect. Good and uniform alignment of nematic LC was observed on the liquid crystal alignment layer surface by IB irradiation, and good EO properties of IB aligned TN-LCD were achieved on the liquid crystal alignment layer surface.

In this study, the design of parking brake mounting bracket for SUVs (sports utility vehicles) was handled through structural analysis. For safety evaluation, we conducted a shape analysis of parking brake mounting bracket, discovered improvement measures for weak areas, and reflected them in the design. In addition, a strength analysis was performed and the analysis results were reflected in the design. As a result of analysis through various design changes, it was possible to suggest an appropriate parking brake mounting bracket shape. In addition, the effect of changes in the shape of the reinforcement and mounting bracket on the stiffness and strength of the parking brake mounting bracket was investigated.

Environmental pollution has led to global warming, which threatens human life. In response, hydrogen is gaining attention as a next-generation energy source that does not emit carbon. Due to its explosive nature, special care must be taken in the safe storage and transportation of hydrogen. Among various storage methods, liquefied storage, which can reduce its volume to 1/800, is considered efficient. However, since its boiling point reaches -253°C, the design of an insulation system is essential. For the design of insulation systems applied to large containers, a membrane-type design is required, which necessitates the use of cryogenic adhesives. To evaluate whether the cryogenic adhesive is properly implemented, assessments such as tensile and shear tests are necessary. This study presents a methodology for shear evaluation. Conventional methods for shear evaluation of adhesives result in slippage, preventing proper assessment. Therefore, a method involving drilling holes in the gripper and pulling from the holes must be applied. Optimal design concerning the size and location of the holes is required, and this study derives optimal values based on finite element analysis. By conducting experiments based on the results of this study, it is expected that the risk of gripper damage will be minimized, allowing for accurate evaluation of the adhesive’s performance.

In this study, two alignment methods were used to create a Fringe-Field Switching (FFS) mode liquid crystal device using an organic thin film (polyimide: PI) as an alignment layer. In addition, the electro-optical (EO) characteristics of the liquid crystal device manufactured in this way were investigated to evaluate the feasibility of mass production application of the technology. In general, the photo-alignment method using unpolarized ultraviolet rays can obtain a relatively low pretilt angle, so a liquid crystal device in FFS mode, which is a driving mode of the liquid crystal device that reflects the characteristics of liquid crystal alignment, was manufactured, and the liquid crystal has a high reactivity with the alignment film. Considering this, nematic liquid crystal (NLC) was used. In addition, in order to improve the misalignment, it was observed whether more stable orientation occurred by irradiating ultraviolet rays for an additional 1 to 3 hours in the aligned state. As a result of the experiment, it was found that NLC alignment occurs through a photodecomposition reaction caused by unpolarized UV irradiation oblique to the PI surface. In addition to the existing orientation method, UV irradiation was used to achieve a more stable orientation state and stable V-T curve and response characteristics. With liquid crystal alignment completed, more stable orientation characteristics and EO characteristics at the mass production level were obtained through additional UV irradiation for 3 hours. This method can further stabilize the orientation stability caused by existing UV irradiation through an additional process.

In this study, we examined the assembly and components of a 40-feet container chassis based on its 3D shape. Utilizing the finite element method, we conducted structural analysis considering the total weight, including the 40-ton weight specified in automotive regulations, along with a safety margin of 1.5 under extreme load conditions. And also fixed and junction conditions were applied to the chassis system. Subsequently, we presented the maximum stress results derived from the structural analysis of both the overall chassis system and its individual components. Finally, we evaluated the structural stability of the 40-feet container chassis by comparing and reviewing the maximum stress with the yield strength of the material used for each component.

Hydrogen is considered as one of the most promising future energy carriers due to its noteworthy advantages of renewable, environmentally friendly and high calorific value. However, the low density of hydrogen makes its storage an urgent technical problem for hydrogen energy development. Compared with the density of gas hydrogen, the density of liquid hydrogen is more than 1.5 times higher. Liquid hydrogen is thus more advantageous for large-scale storage and transportation. However, due to the large difference between the liquid hydrogen temperature and the environment temperature, an inevitable heat leak into the storage tanks of liquid hydrogen occurs, causing boil-off losses and vent of hydrogen gas. Researches on insulation materials for liquid hydrogen are actively being conducted, but research on support design for minimal heat transfer and enhanced rigidity remains insufficient. In this study, to design support for liquid hydrogen storage tank, technique of thermal-structural coupled analysis including geometry, mesh, and boundary condition were developed using Ansys workbench, and equivalent stress and deformation distributions were analyzed.

V-type coupling, which is often applied to wastegate-turbochargers(WGT), is a mechanical fastener. Its radial forces generated from the bolt pretension load colse contact with each other to the axial direction for turbine housing and center housing rotating assembly(CHRA). In addition, the torsional stiffness between two bodies should be sufficiently secured to minimize the linkage angle change from the EWGA to the valve spindle. Therefore, in this study, the torsional stiffnesses according to the effects of positioning pins and friction coefficient, and the bolt pretension loads were calculated for V-coupling turbocharger. As a result, it can be seen that the torsional stiffness of the coupling according to the number of position pins is very small. And, when the friction coefficient and the axial force of the bolt are large, the torsional stiffness is greatly increased, and gradually decreasing when the bolt load of the coupling is about 6,000 N or more.

This study evaluates the analytical performance of a newly developed miniaturized disposable U-tube for an automated blood viscometer and compares it to conventional viscometers. Whole blood viscosity (WBV), essential for circulatory function, exhibits non-Newtonian behavior, posing challenges for measurement at low shear rates. The blood viscometer, based on a scanning capillary tube method, used disposable U-tubes to measure viscosities across a shear rate range of 1s⁻¹ to 1,000s⁻¹. Precision evaluation showed stable coefficients of variation (CV) across different viscosity levels. Repeatability assessment indicated consistent CV values, demonstrating the reliability of the device. The agreement with the LV-III Brookfield viscometer and MCR 92 Rheometer was analyzed using Bland-Altman plots, which revealed minor systematic biases and consistent differences across the measurement range. Correlation analysis using Passing-Bablok regression showed high correlation coefficients (R > 0.96) with regression slopes close to 1. The newly developed miniaturized disposable U-tube exhibits excellent precision, reliable repeatability, and high correlation with established methods, enhancing laboratory productivity and offering potential for clinical applications. Further studies with human blood samples are recommended to confirm its clinical applicability.

A cyclone separator is a device that separates solid particles from a fluid using centrifugal force and gravity in its inner chamber. Among cyclone separators, the separator that uses water as a working fluid is called as hydrocyclone separator, which has been developed for the purpose of dehydrating solid mixtures with a proportion of solids floating in liquids greater than 1, such as soil, coal, and cement slurry. In this paper, a hydrocyclone was designed based on the previously proposed design method, and how different the performance is from the targeted value was investigated using the computational fluid dynamics.

This study aims to predict return-to-work outcomes for workers injured in industrial accidents using a TabNet-RUSBoost hybrid model. The study analyzed data from 1,383 workers who had completed recuperation. Key predictors identified include length of recuperation, disability grade, occupation activity, self-efficacy, and socioeconomic status. The model effectively addresses class imbalance and demonstrates superior predictive performance. These findings underscore the importance of a holistic approach, incorporating both medical and psychosocial factors.

In the present study, a calorimeter was used to experimentally investigate the cooling capacity and COP changes according to the pipe length of a variable capacity A/C system with long pipes. Cooling capacity, COP, and compressor discharge temperature were obtained by changing pipe length and loading duty. And the operation status and cycle change process of the A/C system were investigated using some experimental data and P-h diagrams. In long pipes, the pressure drop increases and the operating load on the compressor increases. Additionally, at the same loading duty, cooling capacity and COP decrease and the compressor discharge temperature increases. As loading duty increases, cooling capacity and compressor power consumption increase. Since the temperature deviation between the experimental value and the correlation equation for the discharge temperature of the long-pipe compressor shows a maximum of 10.5℃(50m, L/D : 20/0), the existing correlation equation needs to be modified.

In this study, the design of fuel tank for SUVs (sports utility vehicles) was addressed through structural FE-simulation. For safety evaluation, we performed a shape analysis of fuel tank, discovered improvement measures for weak areas, and reflected them in the fuel tank design. Additionally, a strength analysis was conducted and the analysis results were reflected in the design. As a result of analysis through various design changes, it was possible to propose an appropriate fuel tank shape. Additionally, the effect of changes in the shape of the reinforcement and mounting bracket on the stiffness and strength of the fuel tank bracket was investigated.

"Reducing underwater radiated noise from a ship is a critical issue for ensuring the survivability of the vessel. As high-speed signal processing and interlocking algorithms become more sophisticated, the heat intensity of shipboard equipment is increasing per unit volume. When designing shipboard equipment, it is necessary to consider the trade-off between heat dissipation and noise reduction. Following an analysis of the trade-offs, it was determined that the arrangement of Fan Ass'y A and B exhibited excellent noise and heat dissipation characteristics. Based on this, PWM control operating zones were derived. It was determined that the placement of Fan Ass'y A and B in the operating zone would increase the PWM duty cycle from 33% to 58% using a signal frequency of 25kHz band with guaranteed reliability. This would increase the noise by approximately 9dB(A) but reduce the internal board reference temperature by up to 15℃."

This study secured the field technology of z-axis auto-leveling according to the standalone lift boarding box structure, measured the weight measurement and usage time of the used load, and found the measured value of the deviation of the allowable range and rotation angle of the y-axis rotation range.The Z-axis leveling deviation of the boarding box can also be checked, and auto-leveling technology using a hydraulic system is a very useful technology, and it is judged that this technology can be applied to various forms using the acquired technology.

This study presents a systematic causal analysis of the fuel consumption rate reduction phenomenon observed in mortar-carrier tracked vehicles during driving tests. The investigation focused on identifying the root causes and developing effective improvement measures. Through comprehensive inspections and tests of the chassis and power pack components, along with data analysis, the study identified the damage of the engine flywheel housing gasket and the clogging of the transmission exhaust pump strainer as the main causes of the reduced fuel consumption rate. The causal relationship between the two phenomena was empirically proven using material composition analysis and statistical techniques, enhancing the reliability and validity of the diagnosis. Based on the root cause analysis results, improvements were implemented, including the replacement of the engine gasket and the cleaning of the transmission exhaust pump strainer. The effectiveness of the improvements was quantitatively verified, confirming a significant enhancement in fuel consumption rate and cruising range. By employing a systematic and scientific analysis methodology, this study provides a foundation for improving the reliability and maintenance efficiency of similar weapon systems and power transmission systems in general.
